유아의 정서지능과 관련된 어머니의 행동억제/활성화체계 및 정서표현성 (Maternal Behavioral Inhibition/Activation System and Preschooler's Emotional Intelligence : Mediated by Maternal Emotional Expressiveness)

  • This study explored mediating effects of the maternal emotional expressiveness between maternal behavioral inhibition/behavioral activation system and children's emotional intelligence. subjects were 138 4- to 5-year-old preschoolers (92 boys, 46 girls) and their mothers. The maternal behavioral inhibition/behavioral activation system was measured by BIS/BAS(Behavioral Inhibition System/Behavioral Activation System, Carver & White, 1994), maternal emotional expressiveness was measured by the Self-Expressiveness in the Family Questionnaire (Halberstadt, 1995), and children's emotional intelligence was measured by the Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire (Lee, 1998). Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics and multiple regression analysis. Results were that maternal positive expressiveness mediated the effects of maternal BIS on children's self-understanding and maternal negative expressiveness mediated the effects of maternal BAS on children's self-regulation.

유아학습행동 유형에 따른 유아의 자기조절, 인지양식, 문제행동과 어머니의 양육신념, 학습지원행동 (Preschooler's Characteristics, Mother's Beliefs and Involvement According to Preschool Learning Behaviors)

  • This study employed a child-centered approach in the examination of patterns of preschooler's learning behaviors. A hierarchical cluster analysis was employed in order to discern a meaningful typology of such behavior. The subjects consisted of 232 children (117 boys, 106 girls) and their mothers from 6 kindergartens and 6 day care centers. The results of this study were as follows. The cluster analysis yielded five types of learning behaviors; the competent type, the average type, the low attention/persistence type, the low motivation -attitude type, and the deficient type. The most consistent level differences among these types appeared to lie in distinctions among the average Attention/Persistence scores. The composition of the cluster types, including both the age and gender of the children, was ascertained. Our results indicated that preschool learning behavior types could be seen to differentially relate to children's self-regulation, cognitive styles, problem behaviors, and the level of maternal involvement. It was revealed that a child's characteristics was more important than maternal involvement and beliefs. As there were more girls and older children in the learning type, this type was seen to be more competent.

조선시대 아동교육용 문헌에 나타난 정서과정에 대한 구범적 기대(II) (A Study on Normative Expectation of Emotional Process in Children′s Tectbooks of the Chosen Dynasty(II))

  • The purpose of this study was to explore the normative expectations of positive emotions such as happiness and pride in Korean culture by analyzing the children's textbooks in the Chosen Dynasty period. The method of this study was document analysis and the materials for analysis were 'Dongmongsensp', 'Gyukmongyogyul', 'Myungimbogam', and 'Sohak', that were the textbooks for children's education and invoked the ethics of individual life based on Confucianism. The analysis was focused on the antecedent events, emotional consequences, and emotional regulation in the emotional process of happiness and pride. According to the analysis, happiness was caused by the accomplishment of cultural tasks such as supporting parents, observing laws, being moderate, improving oneself with reading good books, and modeling good deeds, as well as parents' love, which had desirable consequences. Hence, the emotional regulation was to enhance happiness, but far as immoderate experience of happiness, the regulatory rule was expected to suppress it. Also, the antecedents of pride were those demonstrating to have power or occupying a high social position, and the consequences of pride led to self-destruction, and pride was therefore not allowed to be expressed. Consequently, happiness was enhanced because it motivated individuals to accomplish cultural tasks of interdependence, whereas pride was inhibited because it tended to disengage self from social connectedness.

부모의 외모관련 양육유형과 대학생 자녀의 자기존중감에 따른 외모만족도 (The Appearance Satisfaction according to Parents' Appearance-related Parenting Style and Undergraduate Children's Self-esteem)

  • 남녀 대학생을 대상으로 청소년기 부모의 외모관련 양육유형과 자신의 자기존중감이 외모만족도에 미치는 영향을 살펴보았다. 그 결과, 아버지의 외모관련 양육유형은 무관심형(45.5%), 보수적 규제형(32.0%), 외모추구형(22.5%)으로 분류되었으며, 어머니의 경우에는 의견존중형(39.5%), 보수적 규제형(32.6%), 외모추구형(27.9%)으로 분류되었다. 또한 부모의 양육유형과 대학생 자녀의 자기존중감에 따른 외모만족도와의 관계를 살펴본 결과, 남학생에게 있어서는 부모의 외모관련 양육태도보다는 자녀의 자기존중감이 그들의 외모만족도에 영향을 미쳤다. 이에 비하여 여학생들은 부모의 양육유형에 따른 외모만족도 면에서 차이가 있었는데, 자녀의 의견을 존중하는 어머니를 가진 여학생의 경우 외만족도와 신체만족도가 높았으며, 아버지가 외모추구형인 여학생의 경우 오히려 자녀의 신체만족도가 낮았다. 또한 자녀들은 의견존중형을 가장 이상적인 양육유형으로 인식하고 있었고 전반적으로 자기존중감이 높은 학생의 경우 외모만족도도 높았다. 이것은 부모들이 자녀의 외모 관련 양육태도로서 자녀의 의견을 존중하고 그들이 자신의 개성을 찾도록 지도하는 것이 자녀의 외모만족과 자기존중감 고양에 도움이 됨을 보여준다.

초등학생 고학년의 정서인식 명확성, 정서조절전략, 가족관계가 비자살적 자해 및 우울에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Senior Elementary School Students' Emotional Perception Clarity, Emotion Regulation, and Family Relationship on Non-Suicidal Self-Injury and Depression)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the correlations among emotional perception clarity, emotion regulation, family relationship, non-suicidal self-injury, and depression, and to determine associated factors of non-suicidal self-injury and depression for senior elementary school students. Methods: Data were collected from 150 early adolescences in K region, Korea. A self-report questionnaire consisted of Trait Meta-Mood Scale, Cognitive Emotion Regulation Questionnaire, Family Relationship Assessment Scale, Functional Assessment of Self-Mutilation, and Children's Depression Inventory. The data were analyzed using t-test, Pearson's correlation coefficient, logistic regression, and multiple regression analysis. Results: Non-suicidal self-injury and depression were positively associated with maladaptive emotion regulation strategy and family conflict, but negatively related to emotional perception clarity and family support. Adaptive emotion regulation strategy and family togetherness were only significantly correlated with depression. In logistic regression analysis, significant predictors of non-suicidal self-injury were emotional perception clarity, maladaptive emotion regulation strategy, and family support. Multiple regression analysis found that significant factors of depression were adaptive and maladaptive emotion regulation strategies, which explained 38.0% of the variance. Conclusion: Our study findings suggest that targeted intervention to reinforce the adaptive emotion regulation strategy and family relationship may prevent non-suicidal self-injury, and depression for senior elementary school students.

유아의 숲동화 구연학습이 자기감정조절과 공동체의식 함양에 미치는 효과 (The Effect of Oral Narration Learning for Children's Forest Fairy Tale on Self-Emotional Regulation and Community Spirit Cultivation)

  • 본 연구는 유아의 숲동화 구연학습이 자기감정조절과 공동체의식 함양에 미치는 효과를 밝히는데 목적을 갖고 S시소재 유아 40명을 대상으로 8주간 16회기 실험 연구 하였다. 연구결과 전체적으로 숲동화 구연학습을 한 실험집단이 통제집단보다 높게 나타나 실험집단의 숲동화 구연학습의 유용성을 입증해주었다. 특히 공동체의식 요인의 기본생활 습관과 공동체 의식, 사회성발달, 자기인식에서 모두 실험집단이 비교집단에 비해 높게 나타났다. 이는 숲 체험 활동에서의 자연과에서 소통과 함께 동화소재를 자연 속에서 읽으면서 듣고 직접 체험함으로써 유아들이 동화를 통해 주의 집중하고 자연과의 교감 속에 자연 그대로 느끼는 순수한 감성을 바탕으로 또래와 함께 상호 협력하고 공존을 위한 관계 향상은 물론 원칙과 질서를 지키고 이를 실천하려는 소중한 마음이 동화 속 이야기와 함께 자기감정조절까지 증가시킴을 실증해준 것으로 볼 수 있다. 이같은 결과는 숲 활동에 있어 단순한 놀이나 교육 중심에서 벗어나 숲동화 연계 활동을 통해 감정조절 뿐만 아니라 공동체의식 향상에도 긍정적인 교육효과를 가져다 줌에 따라 이의 활용이 보다 확산될 필요가 있음을 시사한 것으로 평가할 수 있다.

어머니의 정서표현 및 자기자비가 유아의 정서조절능력에 미치는 영향: 유아 자기자비의 매개효과 (The Effects of Mothers' Emotional Expression and Self-compassion on Preschoolers' Emotion Regulation: The Mediating Role of Preschoolers' Self-compassion)

  • Objective: This study aimed to determine whether preschoolers' self-compassion mediates the effects of mothers' emotional expression and self-compassion on preschoolers' emotional regulation abilities in children aged 4 to 6 years. Methods: The study included 305 mothers residing in City J who were raising preschoolers aged 4 to 6. Data collected were analyzed for the significance of the mediating effects among the main variables using the GLM Mediation Model in the JAMM package of the Jamovi 2.3.16 statistical program. Results: Firstly, statistically significant positive and negative correlations were found among the main variables. Secondly, preschoolers' positive self-compassion was found to partially mediate the relationship between mothers' positive emotional expression and preschoolers' emotional regulation abilities. Furthermore, preschoolers' negative self-compassion partially mediated the relationship between mothers' negative emotional expressions and preschoolers' emotional regulation abilities. Conclusion/Implications: This study identified parental and child variables influencing preschoolers' emotional regulation abilities and discussed intervention strategies for education and counseling to enhance these abilities.

Effects of Programmed Information on Coping Behavior and Emotions of Mothers of Young Children Undergoing IV Procedures

  • Purpose. To determine the effects of provision of information on mother's problem focused coping ability during their child's intravenous procedure. Methods. Data were collected from 56 mothers whose children have admitted to pediatric ward in the hospital. The participants included 27 intervention group mothers and 29 control group mothers. For the information intervention, 'Programmed Information for Parental Coping before Intravenous Procedure (PIPC- IP)', video program was made based on self-regulation theory for the experimental group mothers. Mother's coping ability was measured by parental supportive behavior, parental beliefs and Profile of Mood State (POMS). Results. Mothers who received PIPC-IP showed significantly higher levels of supportive behavior (t = 3.55, p = .005) and Parental Beliefs (t = 2.95, p = .005), but no significant difference in negative mood on POMS (t = .15, p = .87) compared to mothers in the control group. Conclusions. These results demonstrate that PIPC-IP is an effective intervention to increase the supportive behaviors and beliefs of mothers' problem focused coping ability but not the negative mood.

유아 놀이성에 대한 성격강점의 예측요인 분석 (An Analysis of the Prediction Factors of Character Strengths on the Playfulness of Young Children)

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to examine cluster types according to the playfulness factors of young children and to predict the character strengths of young children which have an influence on the types of children's playfulness. Methods: Playfulness and character strength tests were administered to 237 young children. The playfulness groups were classified by cluster analysis and the logistic regression analysis. It was used to find the character strengths of young children that have a effect on the types of children's playfulness. Results: First, the children's playfulness groups were divided into a high playfulness group and a low playfulness group. Second, there was a significant difference in all character strengths according to the children's playfulness cluster, and the high playfulness group was statistically significantly high in all character strengths. Third, the children's character strengths influencing the high playfulness group were vitality and positivity, self-regulation, self-esteem, and sensibility. Conclusion/Implications: Based on these results, the necessity of supporting these character strengths was discussed in order to improve the playfulness of children in the education field.

아동의 조직화 책략에서의 회상, 책략행동, 메타기억수준의 변화 : 이용결여에 대한 미시 발생적 연구 (Development of Recall, Organizational Strategic Behavior, and Meta-Memory in Children : A Microgenetic Study of Utilization Deficiencies)

  • This study was designed to examine various patterns of developmental change in children's recall, strategic behaviors, and meta-memory with a sort-recall task in relation to utilization deficiencies. Memory tasks consisting of 18 pictures were presented individually to 48 seven-year-old children in each of 7 sessions. Sessions 1 and 2 were baseline; Sessions 3 and 4 were for strategy training, including the organization group, the self-regulation group, the organization/self-regulation group and control group. Sessions 5, 6, and 7 were unprompted tests of strategy maintenance. Results showed significant differences between the 4 groups in their recall, strategy repertories and strategy evaluation. Findings were discussed in terms of the analysis of memory strategy and memory development.
