  • The purpose of this study was to compare working mothers' sftisfaction with child day care service between those using child care centers in their workplace and those using child care centers close to their houses. their demand for better child care service was also assessed. The study findings can be used as basic information for establishing alternative solutions and developing child day care programs able to meet the different needs of mothers with preschool children. The results from this study were as follows. Firstly, there was a significant difference in satisfaction levels associated with the quality of child day care centers (programs and safety) between the two groups. There were no significant differences in satisfaction levels associated with demographic factors. Secondly, while working mothers using child care centers in their workplace were most concerned with the quality of the center, the other group of working mothers was most concerned with the distance between their houses and the child care centers. Thirdly, both groups preferred the idea that the government make child care subsidies. Thus study results suggest the need for establishing systematic efforts to increase child care services in workplaces and communities and eventually support working mothers.

We surveyed four Industrial complex (in Seoul, Incheon, Pusan, Ulsan) to collect data. The samples were 282 mothers (Seoul: 95, Incheon: 54, Ulsan: 62, Pusan: 71). The mothers had children under six years of age and they worked at factory for 11 hours. They (65%) rented houses with 1-2 rooms. Their income was not enought to support their family. They were never supported by social network, so they had to work at factory and they need child care services. The mothers had many difficulties of child rearing and early childhood education. They wanted perfect day care programs. They expected it as followings: (1) Day care center placed at factory or near home. (2) The administrater is goverment or employer. (3) It is managed a full time system. (4) It is center-based day care or industrical day care. (5) They share day care expense with employer or goverment. (6) Day care expenses is 35,000 won in case of full time system, 25,000 won in case of half-time system. They desited highly qualifed day care programs, but they would not expense highly cost. So we suggest that goverment and factory employers support the working mothers.

Analysis of 20 protocols made by the participants showed three dimensions of effects (1) reinforcement of their speciality within the field of childcare, (2) psychological satisfaction; e.g. self-confidence and self-fulfillment, and (3) positive perspectives on child care accreditation. Conclusions were that child care accreditation is an effective system as long as it helps the participants achieve successful experiences. These data will be useful for understanding and publicity of the recently established child care accreditation system. Future research on this subject is needed not only to activate childcare study but also to contribute towards acceptance of the new system.

  • This study examined the experience of administrators of home-based child care centers about CCFSM (Center for Children's Foodservice Management) service using a qualitative approach. Eight administrators of home-based child care centers in Seoul with more than one year's experience of CCFSM were interviewed regarding their opinions on support activities, standards, and foodservice management. The interviews were semi-structured with open-ended questions and they were transcribed and classified according to the subjects. There were negative opinions regarding the indications after a hygiene inspection leaving photographs or records behind, but most positive opinions were about round visits for foodservice sanitation and nutrition management. The participants thought that it is not enough that the number of nutrition education sessions for children be twice a year, and there was a suggestion to increase the rentals of nutrition educational materials. There was a complaint about the menus in that were difficult to prepare for lunch time or to obtain food ingredients for. The administrators poorly recognized how to use the standardized recipes and chlorine-based disinfectants, so they could not be applied properly. They also pointed out the problems of joint purchasing as low quality and high prices in the food service operation. They felt discriminated against compared to with larger scale child care centers because of their size and expressed concerns regarding the fact that many home-based child care centers were not included due to the lack of publicity and budget. Through the results, the CCFSM should provide a differentiated service and management by creating a dedicated team or staff for home-based child care centers so they will not feel left out. In addition, It is also important to constantly gather opinions to improve the menus and to use standardized recipes practically. In addition, it will be necessary to develop nutrition educational materials corresponding to the infants' age for home-based child care centers and increase the rent to expand nutrition education.

Methods: Self-report questionnaires were used on 321 child care teachers and data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation and Structural Equation Modeling Analysis. Results: First, significant correlations existed among variables except the relationship between payment/promotion and other variables. The results showed that child care teachers'job satisfaction had a significant and direct influence on teacher-child interaction, and teachers' job satisfaction was partially mediated by teacher-parent partnership on teacher-child interaction. Conclusion/Implications: The findings confirm that teachers' job satisfaction and teacher-parent partnership are preceding factors for positive teacher-child interaction. Significant attention should be paid to child care teachers'psychological satisfaction and teacher-parent relationships to promote the quality of child care and the positive interaction between teachers and children.

For this, this article selected 126 research papers related with adjustment of infants and toddlers that were published from 1996 to 2013. The results of study are as follows: First, there were the highest numbers of study from 2009 to 2013, as the result of analysis by date of research. Second, there are accomplished the most researches targeting infants and toddlers, parents and educare teachers. Third, there were the highest numbers of study related with a influence factor on adjustment of infants and toddlers to child care center, as the result of analysis depending on subjects of research. Fourth, the quantitative researches were mainly conducted for examining a correlation with the factors related with adjustment of infants and toddlers to child care center, as the result of analysis depending on the method of study.

  • The study aims to find out and examine the variables that make a difference between pre-service teachers' child care efficacy (CCE) and general self-efficacy (GSE). The subjects were 232 pre-service child care teachers going to an educational institution and a college. The results are as follows. First, the variables of "age", "teacher training facilities", "field experience in child care centers", and "experience of child care" and "paraprofessional teachers" are important variables in pre-service teachers' CCE. Second, the variables of "age", "level of education", "teacher training facilities", "field experience in child care center", and "experience of child care or paraprofessional teachers" significantly affect the pre-service teachers' GSE. Third, the "age" variable is essential in explaining pre-service teachers' GSE. The Pre-service teachers' GSE is significantly related to the pre-service teachers' CCE.
