  • The objective of this study was to determine the status of star chart game applications in the Google play store in Korea. The share of game genres in paid and free star charts of game applications was searched. Also, the average reviewer's rating, average number of reviews, and average age rating based on the genre of paid and free star charts of game applications, and the average price of paid applications based on genre were analyzed. Hypothesis tests for the differences in average reviewer's rating, average number of reviews, average age rating according to the genre of game applications were performed. Also, hypothesis tests for the differences in average reviewer's rating, average number of reviews, average age rating between the paid and free game applications along with the hypothesis test for the differences in price according to the genre of paid game applications were performed. Lastly, hypothesis tests for the correlation between the start chart ranking and number of reviews in association with the correlation between the start chart ranking and reviewer's rating were performed. Statistically significant differences in average reviewer's rating, average number of reviews, average age rating according to the genre of game applications, and between the paid and free game applications were verified. However, the correlation between the start chart ranking and number of reviews in association with the correlation between the start chart ranking and reviewer's rating were not statistically significant.

  • Now Korea Hydrographic and Oceanographic Administration(KHOA) publishes 309 charts of 38 kinds of scale. Korea chart index number system is established with east, south and west sea areas. The chart number has been given irregularly in accordance with publication order so there is no consistence. The present chart index number system can classify sea areas but does not have information of scale, object and location. Therefore this chart's unsystematic management gives rise to inconvenience to the chart user. So, the standards of chart index number system is urgently needed for the efficient management & use of chart. In this paper, we intend to propose new chart index number system through adjusting area of chart and rearranging scale of charts. As a result, it is necessary to change from 3 digits to 4 digits index number to gain competitiveness & systematic management of Korea nautical charts.

  • This paper proposes a curtailed-sequential probability ratio test (SPRT) control chart. For using the conventional SPRT control chart, the number of items inspected in a sampling point should have no restriction since items in a sampling point are inspected one by one until an SPRT Is terminated. The number of observations taken in a sampling point, however, has an upper bound since sampling and testing of an item is time-consuming or expensive. When the sample size reaches the upper bound without evidence of an in-control or out-of-control state of a process, the proposed chart makes a decision using the sample mean of all observations taken in a sampling point. The properties of the Proposed chart are obtained by a Markov chain approach and the performance of the chart is compared with fixed sample size (FSS) and variable sample size (VSS) control charts. A comparative study shows that the proposed chart performs better than VSS control charts as well as conventional FSS control charts.

  • As charts to monitor the process fraction defectives, P, in the high-yield processes, Mishima et al. (2002) discussed a synthetic chart, the Synthetic CS chart, which integrates the CS (Confirmation Sample)$_{CCC(\text{Cumulative Count of Conforming})-r}$ chart and the CCC-r chart. The Synthetic CS chart is designed to monitor quality characteristics in real-time. Recently, Kotani et al. (2005) presented the EWMA (Exponentially Weighted Moving-Average)$_{CCC-r}$ chart, which considers combining the quality characteristics monitored in the past with one monitored in real-time. In this paper, we present an alternative chart that is more superior to the $EWMA_{CCC-r}$ chart. It is an integration of the $EWMA_{CCC-r}$ chart and the CCC-r chart. In using the proposed chart, the quality characteristic is initially judged as either the in-control state or the out-of-control state, using the lower and upper control limits of the $EWMA_{CCC-r}$ chart. If the process is not judged as the in-control state by the $EWMA_{CCC-r}$ chart, the process is successively judged, using the $EWMA_{CCC-r}$ chart. We compare the ANOS (Average Number of Observations to Signal) of the proposed chart with those of the $EWMA_{CCC-r}$ chart and the Synthetic CS chart. From the numerical experiments, with the small size of inspection items, the proposed chart is the most sensitive to detect especially the small shifts in P among other charts.

  • Borror et al. discussed the EWMA(Exponentially Weighted Moving Average) chart to monitor the count of defects which follows the Poisson distribution, referred to the $EWMA_c$ chart, as an alternative Shewhart c chart. In the $EWMA_c$ chart, the Markov chain approach is used to calculate the ARL (Average Run Length). On the other hand, in order to monitor the process fraction defectives P in high-yield processes, Xie et al. presented the CCC(Cumulative Count of Conforming)-r chart of which quality characteristic is the cumulative count of conforming item inspected until observing $r({\geq}2)$ nonconforming items. Furthermore, Ohta and Kusukawa presented the $CS(Confirmation Sample)_{CCC-r}$ chart as an alternative of the CCC-r chart. As a more superior chart in high-yield processes, in this paper we present an $EWMA_{CCC-r}$ chart to detect more sensitively small or moderate shifts in P than the $CS_{CCC-r}$ chart. The proposed $EWMA_{CCC-r}$ chart can be constructed by applying the designing method of the $EWMA_C$ chart to the CCC-r chart. ANOS(Average Number of Observations to Signal) of the proposed chart is compared with that of the $CS_{CCC-r}$ chart through computer simulation. It is demonstrated from numerical examples that the performance of proposed chart is more superior to the $CS_{CCC-r}$ chart.

  • Previous VSI control chart works have been done on quality variable whose distribution is normal. But there are many situations in which hte assumption of not a, pp.opriate. Also, in many industrial processes, the interest is to monitor the number of defectives. In this paper, we will take the existing properties of VSI control chart developed for the normal distribution and a, pp.y them to the np-chart based on the discrete binomial distribution. We will consider the CUSUM chart for the number of defectives. Here, the interesting object is to compute the VSI ATS for CUSUM control chart using Markov chain a, pp.oach and to compare FSI ATS and VSI ATS.

  • Determining the number of operators who set up the machines in a human-machine system is crucial for maximizing the benefits of automated production machines. A man-machine chart is an effective tool for identifying bottlenecks, improving process efficiency, and determining the optimal number of machines per operator. However, traditional man-machine charts are lacking in accounting for idle times, such as interruptions caused by other material handling equipment. We present an adjusted man-machine chart that determines the number of machines per operator, incorporating idleness as a penalty term. The adjusted man-machine chart efficiently deploys and schedules operators for the hole machining process to enhance productivity, where operators have various idle times, such as break times and waiting times by forklifts or trailers. Further, we conduct a simulation validation of traditional and proposed charts under various operational environments of operators' fixed and flexible break times. The simulation results indicate that the adjusted man-machine chart is better suited for real-world work environments and significantly improves productivity.

  • The number of nonconformities in a unit is commonly modeled by a Poisson distribution. As an extension of a Poisson distribution, a zero-inflated Poisson(ZIP) process can be used to fit count data with an excessive number of zeroes. In this paper, we propose a generalized likelihood ratio(GLR) chart to monitor shifts in the two parameters of the ZIP process. We also compare the proposed GLR chart with the combined cumulative sum(CUSUM) chart and the single CUSUM chart. It is shown that the overall performance of the GLR chart is comparable with CUSUM charts and is significantly better in some cases where the actual directions of the shifts are different from the pre-specified directions in CUSUM charts.

  • Kusukawa and Ohta presented the $CS_{CQ-r}$ chart to monitor the process defect $rate{\lambda}$ in high-yield processes that is derived from the count of defects. The $CS_{CQ-r}$ chart is more sensitive to $monitor{\lambda}$ than the CQ (Cumulative Quantity) chart proposed by Chan et al.. As a more superior chart in high-yield processes, we propose a Synthetic chart that is the integration of the CQ_-r chart and the $CS_{CQ-r}$chart. The quality characteristic of both charts is the number of units y required to observe r $({\geq}2)$ defects. It is assumed that this quantity is an Erlang random variable from the property that the quality characteristic of the CQ chart follows the exponential distribution. In use of the proposed Synthetic chart, the process is initially judged as either in-control or out-of-control by using the $CS_{CQ-r}$chart. If the process was not judged as in-control by the $CS_{CQ-r}$chart, the process is successively judged by using the $CQ_{-r}$chart to confirm the judgment of the $CS_{CQ-r}$chart. Through comparisons of ARL (Average Run Length), the proposed Synthetic chart is more superior to monitor the process defect rate in high-yield processes to the stand-alone $CS_{CQ-r}$ chart.

  • A new method for approximating the average run length (ARL) of cumulative sum (CUSUM) chart is proposed. This method uses the conditional expectation for the test statistic before the stopping time and its asymptotic conditional density function. The values obtained by this method are compared with some other methods in normal and exponential case.
