A study on Machine-Printed Korean Character Recognition by the Character Composition form Information of the Graphemes and Graphemes using the Connection Ingredient and by the Vertical Detection Information in the Weight Center of Graphemes

  • This study is the realization study recognizing the Korean gothic printing letter. This study defined the new grapheme by using the connection ingredient and had the graphemes recognized by means of the feature dots of the isolated dot, end dot, 2-line gathering dots, more than 3 lines gathering dots, and classified the characters by means of the arrangement information of the graphemes and the layers that the graphemes form within the characters, and made the character database for the recognition by using them. The layers and the arrangement information of the graphemes consisting in the characters were presumed by using the weight center position information of the graphemes extracted from the characters to recognize and the information of the graphemes obtained by vertically exploring from the weight center of each grapheme, and it recognized the characters by judging and comparing the character groups of the database by means of the information which was secured this way. 350 characters were used for the character recognition test and about 97% recognition result was obtained by recognizing 338 characters.

  • This paper describes a character retrieval system for TV programs and a set of novel algorithms for detecting and recognizing faces for the system. Our character retrieval system consists of two main components: Face Register and Face Recognizer. The Face Register detects faces in video frames and then guides users to register the detected faces of interest into the database. The Face Recognizer displays the appearance interval of each character on the timeline interface and the list of scenes with the names of characters that appear on each scene. These two components also provide a function to modify incorrect results. which is helpful to provide accurate character retrieval services. In the proposed face detection and recognition algorithms. we reduce the computation time without sacrificing the recognition accuracy by using the DCT/LDA method for face feature extraction. We also develop the character retrieval system in the form of plug-in. By plugging in our system to a cataloguing system. the metadata about the characters in a video can be automatically generated. Through this system, we can easily realize sophisticated on-demand video services which provide the search of scenes of a specific TV star.

Flying Cake: An Augmented Game on Mobile Device (Flying Cake: 모바일 단말기를 이용한 실감형 게임)

  • In the ubiquitous computing age which uses a high quantity network, mobile devices such as wearable and hand-held ones with a small tamers and a wireless communication module will be widely used in near future. Thus, a lot of researches about an augmented game on mobile devices have been attempted recently. The existing augmented games used a traditional 'backpack' system and a pattern marker. The 'backpack' system is expensive, cumbersome and inconvenient to use, and because of the pattern marker, it is only possible to play the game in the previously installed palace. In this paper, we propose an augmented game called Flying Cake using a face region to create the virtual object(character) without the pattern marker, which manually indicates an overlapped location of the virtual object in the real world, on a small and mobile PDA instead of the cumbersome hardware. Flying Cake is an augmented shooting game. This game supplies us with two types: 1) a single player which attacks a virtual character on images captured by a camera in an outdoor physical area, 2) dual players which attack the virtual character on images which we received through a wireless LAN. We overlap the virtual character on the face region using a face detection technique, and users play Flying Cake though attacking the virtual character. Flying Cake supplies new pleasure to flayers with a new game paradigm through an interaction between the user in the physical world captured by the PDA camera and the virtual character in a virtual world using the face detection.

  • With the development of computer and video technology, a lot of contents are being produced as digital media methods to provide are being diversified and the intrest in digital media increases. Such contents are actively researched using human motion and user's information through camera or controller. Contents using user's information can be exposed to various people in public places and used as an advertisement. This paper proposes the character floating hologram system that is implemented using detection of user's height and motion. The purposed system detects user's height and motion from depth images and creates corresponding character from the detected data. Then it is represented using a floating hologram device. This system can be used for marketing, advertising and exhibition events using user information.

  • 웹페이지나 디지털 문서에는 특정 단어나 특정 문구를 검색하는 기능이 있다. 인쇄된 도서나 참고서 등과 같은 인쇄물에는 실시간으로 특정 단어나 특정 문구를 찾는 기능이 없어 어려움을 겪는 경우가 많다. 본 논문에서는 텍스트를 감지(Detection)하는 EAST 모델과 텍스트를 인식(Recognition)하는 EasyOCR을 활용한 실시간 문자 탐지 시스템의 개발내용에 대해 기술한다. 이 시스템을 통해 사용자는 인쇄물에서 실시간으로 원하는 단어나 문구를 찾아 필요한 정보를 빠르게 읽는 것에 효과적일 것을 기대한다.

Speech Synthesis System for Detected Objects by Smart Phone (스마트폰으로 검출된 객체의 음성합성 시스템)

  • This paper designs an application for detecting various objects using a smart phone with camera sensor, then implements the application that detects the number of faces in front of a user by using the Face API provided by android and generates a speech to the user. For implementing the application, the GoF strategy pattern is applied to design the application. It provides some advantages; first, the algorithm development schedule can separate the whole application development schedule; next, it makes easier to add the algorithm. For example, another detecting algorithm for the other objects (character, motion detection) that may be developed in the future, or it may be replaced by a more high-performance algorithm. With the propose method, a general smart phone can make some advantages that can provide information of various objects (such as moving people and objects, and detected character from signboards) to the person who is visually impaired.

A Mark Automatic Checking System to Inspect Character Strings on Chips (칩의 문자들을 검사하기 위한 마크 자동 검사 시스템)

  • The character strings on chips and components are so tiny and numerous that it is a very difficult work for people to perform. In paper, this we propose a mark automatic checking system, which will determine whether chip is wrong-mark or not by recognizing characters on chips. Lots of faulty detection conditions and template matching methods are used to inspect the faulty mark items. The faulty detection classifies conditions as five kinds-darkness, matching, area, broken and branch. A series of experimentation shan that the method proposed here am offer an effective way to determine wrong-mark on chips.

  • In this paper, we propose a method to generate adversarial examples for toxicity detection neural networks. Our dataset is represented by a one-hot vector and we constrain that only one character is allowed to be modified. The location to be changed is founded by the maximum area of input gradient, which represents the most affecting character the model to make decisions. Despite the fact that we have strong constraint compared to the image-based adversarial attack, we have achieved about 49% successful rate.

  • In this paper, a new semi-automated cyber character generating method is presented. Local edge detection tools extract face contour from graphic image files. Some graphic manipulation process detailed touch to obtain neat face contour. This method shortens the making process dramatically while maintaining the good quality similar to real face image. Some of the processed images are illustrated for clear explanation.
