  • It is well known that ISO 9001 and TQM have significant effects on business success. We analyzed the effects of ISO 9001 requirements and TQM on financial performance with structural equation modeling. Hypotheses are proposed and tested based on existing beliefs, proposition and prior research concerning quality. Survey data were collected from 291 manufacturing companies with ISO 9001 certifications. The data show that ISO 9001:2008 requirements have significant positive direct effects on TQM practices, but do not have positive direct effects on financial performance. As expected, TQM has significant positive direct effects on financial performance. One of the important results is that efforts to meet ISO 9001:2008 requirements enhance TQM practices which, in turn, helps to improve financial performance. Findings in this study support the claims that ISO 9001:2008 would be a good step toward total quality management and is a meaningful component of TQM.

  • The engine is the most significant and essential part of the aircraft. As a result, systematical handling in the aircraft development stage is required from engine design to implementation to the full-scale airframe. This survey demonstrates the procedures demanded by the KAS 23 Civil Aircraft to acquire the engine Type Certification and the flight test procedures for ensuring the operational stability. Surveys were conducted on domestic and international aircraft engine certifications, technical regulations and documentations related to the Means of Compliance for flight test development stage. In addition, organized reference items that should be considered for the certification of engine flight test procedures were reviewed based on the KC-100.

  • In this paper, we analyzed two methodologies to evaluate the total quality management activities comparatively. One of them is the traditional scoring system (TSS) by analytic hierarchy process (AHP) and the other is the efficiency measuring system (EMS) by data envelop analysis (DEA). It is demonstrated that the index by TSS and the efficiency index by EMS are not correlated. Also, the efficiency index by EMS in terms of company characteristics such as the size of company and ISO certifications is different from the index by TSS. The result implies that to evaluate the quality activities by EMS is needed as a supplementary methodology.

The certification system where the private organization operates but recently on the legal notarization outside is disordering and the trust regarding the certification falls and the objective and gist of origin are damaged. But recently the trust of certification has fallen and the objective and gist of origin are damaged. Because the non-government certifications are disordering. Also the damage of the consumers majority occurs but it is insufficient the investigation analysis against the present condition regarding a non-government certification system and the operation actual condition. So it is necessary the actual condition where the countermeasure against hereupon is urgent. The study results are as follows. First, satisfaction with educational curriculum was higher in students than librarians. Second, both students and librarians regarded workplace based practical training as employment requirements and also evaluated certifications and academic performance as important requirements. Third, both groups asked that information on employment rates be available in a timely manner, and perceived that the librarian's job prospects were not bright. Therefore, in order to improve employment of librarians, it will be necessary to establish a job information system, reorganize the current educational curriculum into a practice-oriented curriculum, and introduce the national curriculum statements (NCS)-based curriculum.

  • Many organizations require their current and perspective employees to obtain industry-based certification to maintain, and seek promotions. However, many certifications are simple knowledge based examinations that reward memorization instead of actual performance. With industry's increased reliance and demand to hire certified professionals, there is much more dishonesty, as well as incompetence, entering the system. This paper examines the issues and difficulties faced by organizations trying to hire IT staff based on current certification methodologies and recommends that IT assessments should be shifted from knowledge-based to performance-based examinations through the use of scenario-based simulations. It also demonstrates how to integrate simulations into certification and assessment testing using a proposed digital forensics certification as an example.
