Residual salt separation technique using centrifugal force for pyroprocessing

  • Pyroprocessing uses various molten salts during electrochemical unit processes. Reaction products after the electrochemical processes must contain a significant amount of residual salts to be separated. Vacuum distillation is a common method to separate the residual salts; however, its high operation temperature may cause side reactions. In this study, a simple rotation technique using centrifugal force was suggested to separate the residual salts from the reaction products at relatively low temperature compared to the distillation technique. When a reaction product container with porous wall rotates inside a vessel heated above the melting point of the residual salt, the residual salt in the liquid phase is separated through centrifugal force. It was shown that the $LiNO_3-Al_2O_3$ mixture can be separated by this technique to leave solid $Al_2O_3$ inside the container, with a separation efficiency of 99.4%.

원시험 데이터 일반화를 적용한 원심압축기 설계 (Application of Generalized Experimental Data Correlation in Centrifugal Compressor Design)

  • Recently, KARI(Korea Aerospace Research Institute, Korea) and CIAM(Central Institute of Aviation Motors, Russia) have made an effort in developing a centrifugal compressor for a small gas turbine engine as part of a collaboration program. This compressor has been designed as a sub-component for an axial-centrifugal compression system for a small turbo-shaft engine aiming adiabatic efficiency higher than 0.81. The geometrical design requirement imposes restrictions to have high inlet hub-to-tip ratio and inlet swirl flow. In this study, the compressor has been designed using the generalized experimental data established from those compressors having pressure ratio of 3.7 to 5. From this generalized empirical correlation, desirable values of design parameters could be obtained. Subsequently, quasi-3D and 3D viscous flow analyses have been performed to ensure the adopted methodology. It is expected that the centrifugal compressor provides total pressure ratio of 4.89, corrected mass flow-rate of 1.64kg/sec, and adiabatic efficiency of 0.815 with inlet hub-to-tip ratio of 0.641. These relatively high total pressure ratio and inlet hub-to-tip ratio are the main distinctive features in this design. Besides, one of the main features of this centrifugal compressor is the adoption of a double-row bladed diffuser to effectively decelerate the transonic flow leaving the impeller. The compressor has been manufactured and will be tested in the near future.

원심분리 코팅방식을 이용한 홍삼농축액 환의 제조방법 (Manufacturing Method of Red Ginseng Extract Pills by Centrifugal Coating Granulating System)

  • 홍삼농축액분말을 발효주정을 이용하여 과립입자를 제조한 후 이것을 원심력에 의해 부유시키고 성장시켜 100% 홍삼농축액 환을 제조하는 새로운 원심분리 코팅방법을 개발하였다. 본 방법은 홍삼농축액을 순차적으로 분무하면서 흡입공기 온도 60$\sim$70$^{\circ}C$, 분무공기 압력 3.0$\sim$4.0 bar, 투입구 온도 20$\sim$50$^{\circ}C$, 투입속도 1$\sim$1,000 g/min, 회전판속도 1,000$\sim$1,500 rpm, 외부온도 (outlet temperature) 25$\sim$40$^{\circ}C$의 조건으로 제조하였다. 홍삼농축액환의 제조수율은 85% 이었고, 제조에 소요된 시간은 7$\sim$8 시간 이었다. 홍삼농축액환은 홍삼농축액분말에 비해 흡습성 내성이 매우 우수하였고, 비중감소에 의해 물에서의 용해시간도 1 분 이내로 우수하였다. 반면 홍삼의 활성 및 지표성분인 진세노사이드는 제조과정 중 큰 성분 분해없이 안정하였다.

덕트의 유로 최적화를 통한 소음저감 연구 (Study on Noise Reduction by Optimizations of In-line Duct Flow)

  • This paper was a study about noise reduction through flow stabilization in duel using experimental method and numerical analysis at the same time. To determine the fan's type three kinds of fans(axial fan, centrifugal fan, and axial fan with centrifugal type) was examined to investigate the suitability for duct. As a result, under the equal number of rotation 2000 RPM, performance of an axial fan with centrifugal type was the most superior by 55dBA at 4.3CMM among other fans. After this, analyzed the results of the numerical analysis to find out the optimum design of pitch angle such as $0^{\circ},\;10^{\circ},\;15^{\circ}\;and\;20^{\circ}$. The intensity of turbulence was low when pitch angle was $15^{\circ}$ and air volume became peak by 5.08 CMM. It was observed that axis component of velocity increased gradually when pitch angle increased from $0^{\circ}\;to\;20^{\circ}$. Finally, designed the shapes of D/S(Down Stream) in duct that agreed inlet angle($\delta$) of stationary blades with pitch angle($\beta$) of axial fan with centrifugal type and derived flow to duct medial, and changed the shape of motor-mount to reduce occurance of unstable vortex in tip of impeller, and embodied noise reduction and improvement of air flow rate through flow stabilization.

Centrifugal Fan 송풍기의 진동.소음 특성에 관한 연구 (A study on the Characteristics of a Centrifugal Fan Vibration and Noise)

  • 본 연구에서는 Fig.1에 보인 바와 같이 원심휀이 부착된 실내 에어콘을 대상 으로 하여 원심휀의 진동.소음 특성을 연구하였다. Fig.2에서 보인바와 같이 원심휀 은 전기 모터 축에 커플링 되어 있으며 원심휀의 회전으로 발생된 공기유동은 연결된 덕트 시스템(duct system)을 통해 외부로 방출 된다. 이와 같은 송풍시스템에서 발 생하는 진동.소음은 크게 구조물 진동에 의한 구조물진동소음과 공기유동 자체에서 발 생하는 공기유동소음으로 구별된다. 본 연구는 실험적 연구를 통하여 이들 진동. 소 음원의 주파수 특성과 전체 소음에의 기여도 등을 규명하였다.

  • Centrifugal spinning is an emerging technique for fabricating micro-to-nano-fibers in recent years. To obtain fibers with the desired size and morphology, it is necessary to configure and optimize the parameters used in centrifugal spinning. In this study, it was controlled by changing the solution's concentration (7.5, 10, and 12.5 wt.%) and disk's rotational velocity (6,000, 8,000, and 10,000 rpm) to prepare centrifugal spun nano-filter. The morphological property, air permeability, and dust collection efficiency of the PVA/PP bi-layer nanoweb prepared by centrifugal spun PVA on the PP micron nonwoven substrate are studied using a field emission scanning electron microscope, an air permeability tester, and a filter tester equipment, and the analysis results indicate that it is suitable as a nano-filter when the concentration of PVA solution is 10 wt.% and the rotational velocity of the disk is 8,000 rpm. The resultant reduced diameter and uniform fibers also proved that an excellent dust collection efficiency filter could be made.

상부 슬래브와 합성된 원심성형으로 제작된 초고강도 각형보의 실험연구 (The Experimental Study of Full-scale Centrifugal Formed High Strength Concrete Prismatic Beam(CFPB) Composited with Deck Slab )

  • 실리카 흄과 같은 고가의 혼화재 투입 없이 원심성형 공정 활용으로 콘크리트의 수밀성 증대 통한 콘크리트 압축강도 100 MPa급 초고강도 프리스트레스 각형보를 개발하였다. 벽체에 가설된 초고강도 원심성형 각형보는 상부슬래브 콘크리트와 합성된 후에 공용하중을 받게 되는데, 원심성형 보와 바닥판 사이에는 휨에 의해 수평전단응력이 발생되고 이는 스터드나 철근 등의 전단연결재를 통해서 보와 바닥판이 합성거동을 하게 된다. 본 연구에서는 공장에서 생산된 100 MPa급 원심성형 각형보 상부에 RC슬래브를 제작하여 합성시킨 실물모형 시험체에 대한 휨재하시험을 수행하였으며, 합성단면은 설계 공칭휨강도를 넘어 안정적인 합성거동을 하면서 파괴되어 구조적인 신뢰성을 입증하였다.
