  • This study studied the effect of visual difference on balance and walking ability in college students' life care. The study was conducted on 45 students attending H University in G City, divided into control groups (n=22, not wearing glasses and contact lenses) and experimental groups (n=23, wearing glasses and contact lenses). In not wearing glasses and contact lenses, the subjects measured visual acuity with logMAR charts, evaluated their balance ability with BIOrescue, and evaluated walking ability with G-Walk. The results of this study showed that the experimental group had statistically significantly lower vision than the control group in the visual acuity measurement(p<.01). Static balance ability was statistically significant increase in center of mass movement of the right foot in the experimental group compared to the control group(p<.05). Dynamic balance ability was statistically significantly reduce in limit of stability for groups of experiments compared to control group(p<.05). The walking ability was statistically significantly shorter on step length and stride length, swing of the experimental group compared to the control group in the right foot(p<.05). The findings showed that the visual difference in university students reduces balance and walking ability. Therefore, university students with poor visual acuity are recommended to correct of visual acuity to prevent collision and falls in their daily lives.

  • A case study has been conducted on the changes in the identity and agency of international marriage migrant women who experienced a shift from a immigrant worker to a foreign spouse and a Korean citizen. The life histories of the eight female migrants living in Gumi area, a representative inland industrial complex in Korea, have been investigated by in-depth interview. The aim is to examine how the female migrants reconstruct and interpret their lives. The results reveal that the identy of a female migrant is flexible depending on her social positionality. The identities established from the past experiences in their native countries have been changed by their situations and conditions in Korea. The female immigrants recognize that their problems have been an important issue both in government policy and mass media. However, the female migrants express a strong revolt against the fact that they are considered as underclass victims or innocent people from underdeveloped countries. This implies their ambivalence toward international marriage that they selected subjectively. There is a finding to show a new possibility; the Transnational Marriage & Family Support Center supported by Government may provide a good ground for the female migrants to be a active group agent. The results illustrate that the international marriage migrant women could not be classified into a single group as wives. Called for are diverse researches reflecting the complex situations of migrant women.

  • A comparison was made regarding the extent of anger between 50 hypertensives and 50 normotensives, using anger scale. In addition, correlation was investigated between the extent of anger and biological variables such as systolic and diastolic blood pressure, serum total cholesterol, high density lipoprotein(HDL) and triglyceride in each of both the groups. The two groups were matched to each other regarding age, sex, the level of education and body mass index(BMI). The hypertensives scored significantly higher than normotensives in anger suppression, whereas normotensives scored significantly higher than hypertensives in anger expression. In hypertensives, scores of anger suppression and anger expression did not significantly correlate with blood pressure, serum total cholesterol, HDL and triglyceride, respectively. In normotensives, however, scores of anger suppression correlated positively with systolic blood pressure. Male hypertensives scored significantly higher than female hypertensives regarding anger expression, whereas male normotensives scored significantly higher than female normotensives regarding anger expression and anger total subscale, respectively. These results suggest that hypertensives suppressed more anger than normotensives, and that anger suppression in normotensives was more likely to increase blood pressure, supporting the previous reports that suppressed anger may be related to hypertension.

  • This study aims to analyze the association between the center of mass(C.O.G) and ocular movement(E.O.G) according to the success and failure in the left turn motion on the balance beam, targeting three female gymnasts. When successful, the left-right C.O.G was moved to the left, which was a rotational direction until such time as the body rotated $180^{\circ}$, whereas there appeared to be a greater movement during failure; thus, it was shown to affect the maintenance of dynamic postural control. In case of the subsequent left-right turning motion of E.O.G, this matches the previous theory that the eyeball moves against the direction of rotation of the body. However, there was a difference at the time of movement, and a clear difference emerged in the success and failure in this study. Also, in the E.O.G in the up-down direction, a movement during failure showed a pattern of down direction in most cases; thus, it is deemed to affect the failure. Therefore, the kinetic postural control and E.O.G are supposed to affect the success and failure in a landing, which is the most importantly evaluated movement on the balance beam, in mutual association.

  • Volatile profiles of beverages and encapsulated powders containing Artemisia princeps Pampan extracts were analyzed by solid-phase microextraction-gas chromatography/mass spectrometry during production and storage. Beverages containing 0.32 and 0.64% extracts were stored at room temperature for 8 weeks and $60^{\circ}C$ for 8 days, respectively. Encapsulated particles were stored at room temperature and $60^{\circ}C$ for 8 days. Total volatiles in beverages decreased significantly during storage, irrespective of storage condition (p<0.05). Terpenoids, including cymene, thujone, and ${\beta}$-myrcene, were major volatiles in beverages, and some volatiles including ethylfuran, vinylfuran, and 2-fufural increased in 60oC samples only. Total volatiles in microcapsules at room temperature were not significant different for 8 days (p>0.05), whereas those at $60^{\circ}C$ increased by 16.5 times. Limonene was the most detected volatile in microcapsules, and aldehydes such as hexanal, pentanal, and octanal, and furans such as 2-butylfuran and 2-pentylfuran increased in the $60^{\circ}C$ samples, which may have originated from oxidized lipids used in the microcapsules.

  • The objective of this research is to evaluate both quantitative analysis and qualitative analysis by comparing vital variable factors of the golf swing successes and the failures. At the moment of swing, each body segment and the movement of the club as well as kinematical parameters were produced by utilizing the 3-D swing analysis for the high school female golfers. As kinematical parameters, it analyzes the 3-D analysis and ground reaction force about the location change, velocity and angle. The 3-D swing analysis and ground reaction force location change, velocity and angle are analyzed for Kinematical parameters. As a result, the stable swing is maintained by club head showing very few front-back movement (X) when the address and the top swing. Also, the center of mass velocity contributes to the momentum increase by showing very rapid velocity when successful comparing with when failed at the time of top swing of left-right(Y) and it is thought that by lessening the cocking angle when successful from the top swing to the impact, it influences the linear velocity increase and has a good effect on a non-distance increase. It shows that Ground reaction force (GRF) is examined by showing the stable approval rating in a front-back(X) direction and left-right(Y) and connected to a successful swing.

  • Pellets and prey remains were analyzed to compare diets and foraging tactics of Eurasian eagle owls (Bubo bubo) in two different habitat types: forested areas and open fields. Overall 150 prey items of three taxa were identified from 66 pellets and 82 prey remains, and the birds were the most important prey in biomass (78.04%) and in frequency (56.67%). Eurasian eagle owls frequently used rats (Rattus spp.), ring-necked pheasants (Phasianus colchicus), and stripped field mice (Apodemus agrarius), but the ring-necked pheasant was most important in biomass in both habitat types. The owls generally foraged various prey in biomass but the mean mass of vertebrate prey used by the Eurasian eagle owls was 503.3g in central Korea. According to the comparison of diets in the two different habitat types, the owls used bigger and more diverse prey in forested areas than in open fields. In forested areas, the Eurasian eagle owls frequently foraged the pheasants and Mandarin ducks (Aix galericulata), but they preferred prey of particular sizes to prey of particular taxa. In open fields, however, the owls showed opportunistic foraging tactics by selecting many small mammals such as rodents or a few large birds.

  • This research was performed to develop mass propagation method of Alpine modest primrose (Primula modesta var. hannasanensis T.Yamaz.) for improving the conservation and utilization of the species. Seeds were collected on August 2011 in Jeju-city and well-selected seeds were dry-stored at $4{\pm}1.0^{\circ}C$. Seed size ranged $0.44{\pm}0.07{\times}0.61{\pm}0.04mm$, and weight of 1,000 seeds was $51.78{\pm}0.021mg$. Thus the seed was classified as 'dwarf seeds'. As the result of dormancy characteristics, moisture content of freshly matured seeds increased rapidly by water-soaking treatment and seeds did not germinate at $20^{\circ}C$ for 4 weeks under the light condition. Therefore, seeds were estimated to have physiological dormancy. Germination conditions of dry-stored seeds were found to be $20^{\circ}C$ and light condition, and seeds did not germinated under dark condition regardless of all temperature regimes. Therefore, Alpine modest primrose seed was considered as photoblastic type. Percent germination (PG) and germination energy (GE) were greatly improved by soaking the seeds in $GA_3$ and kinetin for 24 hours. Especially, 200~500 mg/L $GA_3$ treatment resulted in the highest PG (95.5%) and GE (98.3%). So, chemical treatment such as $GA_3$ was thought to be a useful method for raising seedling uniformly.

  • In this present study, we quantified the $SO_2$ effect on $O_3$ retrieval from the Ozone Monitoring Instrument (OMI) measurement. The difference between OMI-Total Ozone Mapping Spectrometer (TOMS) and OMI-Differential Optical Absorption Spectrometer (DOAS) total $O_3$ is calculated in high $SO_2$ volcanic plume on several volcanic eruptions (Anatahan, La Cumbre, Sierra Negra, and Piton) from 2005 through 2008. There is a certain correlation ($R{\geq}0.5$) between the difference and $OMI-SO_2$ in volcanic plumes and the significant difference close to 100 DU. The high $SO_2$ condition found to affect TOMS $O_3$ retrieval significantly due to a strong $SO_2$ absorption at the TOMS $O_3$ retrieval wavelengths. Besides, we calculated the difference against various $SO_2$ levels. There is the considerable difference (average = 32.9 DU; standard deviation = 13.5 DU) in the high $OMI-SO_2$ condition ($OMI-SO_2{\geq}7.0DU$). We also found that the rate of change in the difference per 1.0 DU change in middle troposphere (TRM) and upper troposphere and stratosphere (STL) $SO_2$ columns are 3.9 DU and 4.9 DU, respectively.

  • The accident of mass transit such as a bus could draw the large casualties and this induces social and economic losses. Recently, severe bus accidents caused by tiredness and inattention of bus drivers occurred and those lead to growing interest in bus accidents and the drivers' work environment. Therefore, this study analyzes the accident based on the work environment of bus drivers and route-bus categories. For the research, this study collected digital tachograph data and the bus company information for 271 domestic bus companies in 2017 and used ANOVA test and chi-square test as statistical methodologies. As a result, we figured out there are statistically significant differences in the accident according to the working environments. Especially, the present study confirmed the intracity bus with working every other day has the most frequent accidents. We expect that the results of this study be used as foundations for the improvement of working conditions to reduce route-bus accidents in the future.
