  • Purpose: This study was conducted to test the effect of a Career Search Program on career search efficacy, career search behavior, and career decision making for nursing students. Methods: A non-equivalent pre-post test of a quasi-experimental design was used. Fifty first grade nursing students participated in the study with 22 in the experimental group and 28 in the control group. We used a Career Search Program which was held 6 times over 6 weeks, 90 minutes per session. Descriptive statistics, ${\chi}^2$-test, and independent t-test were used for statistical analysis with SPSS 19.0. Results: There were significant increases in career search efficacy (t=2.07, p=.044) and career search behavior(t=2.65, p=.011) in the experimental group compared to the control group. However, career decision making was not significantly changed (t=0.96, p=.342). Conclusion: These results suggest that a Career grade Search Program has an effect on increasing career search efficacy and career search behavior in first grade nursing students. In addition, more programs to impact career decision making should be developed for nursing college students.

  • Purpose: The purpose of the study is to learn the importance of self-directed learning about career-preparation behavior of department of dental technology students. Methods: Using the questionnaire, the department of dental technology in Gyeongnam Province conducted a survey of students of department of dental technology at A and B college for one month from May 15, 2019 through June 15, 2019, and finally 204 students were surveyed for Self-esteem, Self-determination, Self-efficacy, Internal control, College life adaptation, Self-directed learning, and Career-preparation behavior. Results: Self-esteem among students has been shown to improve self-directed learning by increasing the stress of college life, and self-efficacy has only a direct effect on self-directed learning. In addition, self-determination and internal control of department of dental technology students were found to be variables that have a common positive effect on college life adaptation and self-directed learning. In addition, college life adaptation gives direct positive effect to self-directed learning, but indirect effect through self-directed learning was found to be stronger than direct effect on career-preparation behavior, and the career-preparation behavior of students was further strengthened through self-directed learning. Conclusion: The changes in college restructuring and various policies also suggest that students should actively seek ways to instill certainty about their major's vision and career path within the college rather than deciding their future through extreme measures such as academic secession at a time when anxiety and uncertainty about their career is strong.

  • This study is designed to figure out the effects of major selection motivation on career efficacy and major satisfaction of college students majoring in culinary and foodservice management. To achieve this purpose, a survey was carried out to 209 college students. The findings showed that their major selection had a significant effect on their career efficacy and major satisfaction. But the mediating effect of their career efficacy as a mediator - which improves their major selection and major satisfaction - was partially adopted. Consequently, their internal and external participation motivation for their major selection is a facilitating mechanism to maximize their major satisfaction, and it is necessary to limit the use as a mediating variable of their career efficacy.

A convenience sample of 230 nursing student was selected from S city, between 20 October and 10 November 2017. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation, and multiple regression analysis with the SPSS/WIN 21.0 program. Factors that influenced career maturity included gender(t=2.117, p=.035), age(t=-2.572, p=.011), grade(F=4.716, p=.010), education at the time of admission(t=-2.695, p=.008) and perceived academic achievement(F=11.127, p<.001). Career maturity showed a positive correlation with career decision-making self-efficacy(r=.585, p<.001) and problem solving ability(r=.407, p <.001), but a negative correlation with job-seeking stress(r=-.424, p<.001). Regression analysis revealed that significant factors influencing career maturity were career decision-making self-efficacy, problem solving ability and job-seeking stress. This regression model explained 42.8% of the variance in the career maturity. Based on these findings, it is necessary to develop and test programs to ensure an improvement in career decision-making self-efficacy, problem solving ability and job-seeking stress among nursing students to increase their career maturity.
