  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of high-heels (HH) modification on metatarsal stress in female workers. Method: Seven females who work in clothing stores ($heights=160.4{\pm}3.9cm$; $weights=47.4{\pm}4.1kg$; $age=31.3{\pm}11.1yrs$; $HH\;wear\;career=8{\pm}6.5yrs$) wore two types of HH (original and modified). The modified HH had been grooved with 1.5 cm radius and 0.2 cm depth around the first metatarsal area inside of the shoes using the modified shoe-last. Participants were asked to walk for 15 minutes on a treadmill and to stand for 10 minutes with original and modified HH, respectively. Kinetics data were collected by the F-scan in-shoe system. After each test, participants were asked to rate their perceived exertion using the Borg's 15-grade RPE scale and interviewed about their feeling of HH. Nonparametric Wilcoxon signed-rank test and effect size (Cohen's d) were used to determine the difference of the variables of interest between the original and modified HH. Results: In the present study, modified HH of the peak contact pressure of 1st metatarsal (PCP) left, PCP right, pressure time integral (PTI) left, peak pressure gradient (PPG) left during standing and PPG right during walking are greater than original HH. And even it didn't show statistically significant, the average in all pressure values of modified HH showed bigger than original HH. It surmised to be related to awkward with modified HH. Even though they said to feel the comfortable cause of big space inside of HH in the interview, they seemed to be not enough time to adapt with new HH. So their walking and standing postures were unstable. Conclusion: Modified the fore-medial part of HH can reduce the stress in the first metatarsal head and big toe area during standing and walking.

  • This study was conducted to investigate the relationship between motivation, stress and flow in bicycle race gambling. To accomplish this, data were collected from gambling users of a bicycle velodrome. A total of 347 samples were employed for analysis. The collected data were analyzed through multiple regression analysis. The results of the analysis were as follows. First, the level of flow increased as the motivation for participating in the contest increased. Second, the influence of the motivation to participate in the race on immersion showed that a higher motivation to participate in the race was associated with a higher level of stress. Third, verification of the motive for participating in the race and the mediated effect of immersion between stress revealed that immersion had a mediated effect on stress. Based on the results of these analyses, practical and policy implications were suggested. Accordingly, there is a need to identify the motivation for career participation in counseling of experienced gamblers. Moreover, it is important to establish a system to prevent excessive gambling flow.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to identify bilateral differences of physeal closure of the lateral compartment of the elbow in osteochondritis dissecans (OCD) and related factors with premature physeal closure. Methods: Initial radiographs of the bilateral elbows in 40 baseball players with OCD (group I) were reviewed for the status of physeal closure of the lateral compartment; capitellum, radial head, lateral epicondyle. Forty baseball players with medial epicondylar apophysitis (group II) were enrolled as a control. Relative status of physeal closure of dominant elbow was defined as early, same, and delayed. Bilateral differences of the status of physeal closure were analyzed between groups, and according to the radiographic stages, extent of the lesions and demographic factors in group I. Results: Significant early physeal closures of dominant elbows were identified in group I in capitellum (group I, 55%; group II, 3%), radial head (group I, 53%; group II, 3%), and lateral epicondyle (group I 37%; group II, 5%). In group I, advanced stage and extended lesion showed early lateral compartment physeal closure especially in capitellum and radial head, and players with longer career length and limitation of motion showed early closure. Conclusion: Over the half of the adolescent baseball players with OCD demonstrated early radiocapitellar physeal closures of dominant elbow in initial presentation. Because premature physeal closure contributes to the development of arthritis without appropriate radiocapitellar remodeling, early detection of OCD is essential for prevention of arthritis and successful conservative management.

  • The purpose of this study was to compare the demographic and job characteristics and job satisfaction of sonographers (SONO) and radiological technologists (RT). The subjects were a total of 148 people (69 SONO, 79 RT), who had been working in clinical and hospitals. The method was conducted using a questionnaire with a total of 54 questions consisting of demographic characteristics, job characteristics, and job satisfaction. Reliability was secured with Cronbach's alpha coefficient of 0.6 or higher for the response of the questionnaire. For statistical analysis, descriptive statistics, cross-analysis, independent sample T-test, and correlation analysis using Pearson's correlation coefficient and Spearman's correlation coefficient were performed for each occupation. As a result, first, the SONO had more female workers than RT. They are more than three times as many in graduate school and above. Second, the SONO had 4.5 times more morning shift than the RT and no form of weekend shift. Third, the average monthly salary of the SONO is higher than that of the RT, but when a certain portion of the salary goes up, the salary no longer goes up. Fourth, satisfaction with expectations, growth desire, positive mentality, growth opportunity, job importance, organizational attachment was higher SONO than the RT, but self-efficacy was higher in RT than SONO. Last, SONO had higher educational background than RT. It is hoped that the results of this study will be able to understand the job characteristics of SONO and RT and identify the factors of job satisfaction and provide them as fundamental materials for job selection.

  • Background: Dental hygienists study dental radiology through the dental hygiene department and curriculum, and most of the radiography work in dental clinics is performed by dental hygienists; however, the legal work regulations for dental hygienists place restrictions on the type of radiography performed. This study aimed to identify the actual conditions of the radiographic work performed by dental hygienists and to determine the difference according to the type of hospital. Methods: This study included 195 dental hygienists working at dental medical institutions in the metropolitan area. A survey was conducted on regarding the radiographic work performed and the clinical career of the main performers. The radiography work was divided into periapical radiography, bite-wing radiography, occlusal radiography, panoramic radiography, computed tomography (CT), and cephalometric radiography. Results: The frequency of performing intraoral radiography was as follows: periapical radiography, 94.9%; bite-wing radiography, 93.8%; and occlusal radiography, 77.9%. The frequency of performing extraoral radiography was 94.4% for panoramic radiography, 89.7% for CT, and 73.3% for cephalometric radiography. The frequency of internal and external radiography performance was higher among hygienists in dental clinics than among those in dental hospitals and university hospitals. The analysis of the dental hygienists' clinical experience in the areas of intraoral and extraoral radiography showed that those working at university hospitals, dental hospitals, and dental clinics had over 5 years, 2~4 years, and 1 year of clinical experience, respectively. The hygienists with less than 1 year of clinical experience showed high performance frequency (p<0.05). Conclusion: For the dental hygienists to perform radiography safely, a discussion regarding the revision of related laws and regulations is warranted.
