Analysis of the Differences Among Core Competency of Collegiate and Career Preparation Behavior, Career Decision-Making Self-Efficacy, Career Barriers (대학생 핵심역량에 따른 진로준비행동 및 진로결정 자기효능감, 진로장벽의 차이 분석)

  • This study aims to get necessary information for designing the systematic and practical career preparation education program by checking the differences among core competency of collegiate and career variables. In order to do that, the core competence of collegiate was identified through Korea collegiate essential skills assessment(K-CESA), and the survey results about career preparation behavior, career decision-making self efficacy and career barriers were collected. And then the data were compared and analyzed to differentiate relationships among core competency of collegiate and career variables, based on the university types and the locations. The data were analyzed by ANOVAs and t-tests using the SPSS 21.0 program. According to the analysis, firstly, there is a difference in the level of collegiate essential skills depending on the characteristics of schools. Secondly, the students at metropolitan four-year universities feel more difficulties primarily in the variable of career barriers than the students at local universities and students at colleges. Thirdly, the students of high rank at core competence showed higher career decision-making self-efficacy and career preparation behavior than the students of low rank, and they feel less difficulties in the matter of career barrier. This study shows that in order to support students' career efficiently, it is necessary for each college and university to design career program by considering the core competency and the level of career development of students, instead of providing them with a unified and fractional program.

A Field Experiments Study for Coaching Effects Verification: Relation between Coaching and Self-esteem, Career Decision Making Self-efficacy, and Career Preparation Behavior (코칭 효과 검증을 위한 현장실험연구: 코칭과 자아존중감, 진로결정자기효능감 및 진로준비행동 간의 관계)

  • The purpose of this study is to clarify the relationship between coaching and self-esteem, career decision-making self-efficacy, and career preparation behavior through field experiments. To accomplish the purpose of the study, as the purposeful sampling was selected 50 male university students in Chungnam, South Korea. This experimental design, 25 university students were assigned to an experimental group, and another 25 university students were assigned to a control group. The experimental group had four sessions of coaching program. The control group did not have any coaching sessions. After four coaching sessions, questionnaires were administrated again. To conduct ANCOVA, pre-measurement scores for each dependent variable were included as covariates and post-measurement scores were included as dependent variables. The result proved the effect of coaching on self-esteem, career decision-making self-efficacy, and career preparation behavior. As the results of analysis, for control group, there was no difference between before and after measurement for each dependent variable. However, there was statistically significant difference between before and after measurement for each dependent variable in experimental group. This result confirmed that coaching caused increase in the level of self-esteem, career decision-making self-efficacy, and career preparation behavior. The result like this has a significance to be able to be used as a basic data that used efficiently in the field of career guidance and HRD for university student.

The Influence of Career Barriers Perceived by Unemployed Married Women on Career Preparation Behaviors. (미취업 기혼여성이 지각하는 진로장벽이 진로준비행동에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to help prepare basic data which is required for married women's vocation career education through analyzing the influence of career barriers perceived by unemployed married women on career preparation behaviors. Research subjects of this study are following. First, how are career barriers perceived by unemployed married women? Second, how are the career preparation behaviors levels of unemployed married women? Third, how is the influence of career barriers perceived by unemployed married women on career preparation behaviors? The summary of this study results are following. First, married women perceive career barriers highly in 'restriction of employment', 'discrimination', and 'child rearing environment' among 7 subordinate factors. Second, married women's average on career preparation behavior level is 3.06. When comparing with preceeding researches which analyzed career preparation behaviors levels of university students, married women's career preparation behaviors levels are relatively higher. Third, there are negative correlations between career barriers and career preparation behaviors perceived by married women. Furthermore, 'preparation/skill lack' and 'child rearing environment' factors among 7 subordinate factors of career barriers brought out negative effects on career preparation behaviors. 'Restriction of employment' factor, however, gives positive effects on career preparation behaviors. It showed that 7 subordinate factors of career barriers include 14% of career preparation behaviors.

Convergence Study on The Influence of Dental Hygiene Students' Stress in Their Major Satisfaction and Career-Decision Attitude (치위생(학)과 학생들의 스트레스가 전공만족도와 진로결정태도에 미치는 영향에 관한 융합연구)

  • The purpose of study is to investigate the effects of stress on major satisfaction and career decision attitude of dental hygiene students. From April 20, 2016 to May 11, 2016, 321 dental hygienists were enrolled in of colleges in Gwangju and Jeollanam-do. In detailed averages of career decision attitude on usual stress, career preparation behavior was $3.23{\pm}0.63$, career maturity was $2.56{\pm}0.62$ and career decision was $2.64{\pm}0.75$. Average of career preparation behavior was highest. Factors influencing major satisfaction were career maturity, career preparation behavior, grade, and usual stress in details of career decision attitude. Therefore, it is necessary to base the data on stress reduction and development of career program.

  • The purpose of this investigate the effect of the educational institution service quality f the government-supported beauty-related educational institution on the students' perceived usefulness and career preparation behavior. Participations in the study collected 362 students at a government-funded educational institution located in Seoul and Gyeon-ggi by a convenience sampling method. The collected data was analyzed through descriptive statistics, factor analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis using SPSS statistical package version 26.0 version. The results derived through a series of research procedures are as follows: First, educational service quality, perceived usefulness and career preparation behavior showed a statistically significant positive(+) correlation. Second, it was found that educational service quality had a statistically significant positive(+) effect on perceived usefulness. Third, the educational service quality showed a positive(+) influence on the career preparation behavior of information collection activities and job preparation activities. Fourth, the perceived usefulness was found to have a statistically significant positive(+) effect on the career preparation behavior of the information collection activities ad job preparation activities. The results of this research can be used as basic data to increase the efficiency of beauty-related government funding projects by evaluating the quality of education services of state-funded beauty related educational institutions.

The Study on the Influence of Career Selection Type of University Students Major in Foodservice, Class Participation, Career Preparation Behavior (외식전공 대학생의 진로선택유형, 수업참여도, 진로준비행동과의 영향 관계 연구)

  • This study examined the factors that affect the relationship among career selection type, class participation, and career preparation behavior for university students who major in food service. A total of 350 questionnaires were distributed to students, of which 320 were deemed suitable for analysis after the removal of 30 unusable responses. In order to perform statistical analyses required in the study, SPSS 18.0 Statistical Program was employed for frequency analysis, factor analysis, reliability analysis, correlations, and regression analysis. The results of the exploratory factor analysis showed that two factors regarding career selection type were extracted from all measurements with a KMO of 0.754 and a total cumulative variance of 64.555%, with regard to class participation, three factors [I found only 1 factor in the paper; there were 3 variables] were extracted with a total cumulative variance of 71.1% and a KMO score of 0.702. One factor for career preparation behavior was extracted that accounted for a total cumulative variance of 64.312% and a KMO score of 0.765. Based on the study's results, the main research hypothesis that identified the relationships that career selection type had with and between class participation and career preparation behavior was partially adopted.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the mediating effect of career decision-making self-efficacy on the relation between the social support of professors and the career preparation behaviors of students who specialize in foodservice & culinary art. The participants of the study consisted of 250 students from the departments related to foodservice and culinary art of the three universities located in Chungcheong province. A total of 217 responses out of the 250 questionnaire were analyzed without the 33 incomplete questionnaires. The results of this study are as follows. First, it was shown that professors' social support had a significant positive effect on the career decision-making self-efficacy and the career preparation behaviors. Second, it shows that the career decision-making self-efficacy played a partial mediating role when the social support of the professors is related to the career preparation behavior. Therefore, the career education based on emotional, informational, material, and appraisal supports of the professors probably play a critical role in improving the career decision-making self-efficacy and the career preparation behaviors of the students majoring in food service & culinary art.

  • The purpose of this study was to figure out the influence of social capital in out-of-school youths upon career behavior and to examine the mediating effect of resilience in its relationship. To achieve the research objective, the questionnaire survey was conducted targeting 127 out-of-school youths who dwell in Busan Metropolitan City. In the relationship between social capital and career preparation behavior, the resilience appeared to have a mediating effect. Seeing the outcomes of this study, a positive support seems to be necessary so that out-of-school youths can make good use of the social capital in local community in order to increase the career preparation behavior in out-of-school youths. Furthermore, the psychological and emotional programs must be developed that can enhance resilience in out-of-school youths. A career counseling with the focus on resilience will need to be carried out.

Influential Factors on Career Preparation Behavior of Nursing Students (간호대학생의 진로준비행동에 미치는 영향요인)

  • This study aimed to investigate the influence of learning flow, career decision-making self-efficacy, and major satisfaction on career preparation behaviors among nursing students. Data were collected by questionnaire from 15th September 2022 to 14th October 2022, from 208 nursing students at universities in provinces the G and J. And the data answered to the questionnaire were analyzed by descriptive analysis, t-test, One-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation, and Stepwise Regression Analysis. As a result of this study, career preparation behaviors was analysed based on learning flow (r=.515, p<.001), career decision-making self-efficacy (r=.681, p<.001) and major satisfaction (r=.621, p<.001). The results of the multiple regression analysis showed that the influential factors on career preparation behaviour were career decision-making self-efficacy (𝛽=.446, p<.001), major satisfaction (𝛽=.285, p<.001), third grade (𝛽=.157, p=.001), learning flow (𝛽=.133, p=.018), and second grade (𝛽=.106, p=.038), and the explanatory power of the career preparation behavior was 57.0%. Therefore, there is a need to provide customised education through a career programme that takes into account the career path chosen by nursing students.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the effects of entrepreneurship education and individual environmental factor on university student's career decision self-efficacy. A total of 346 university students responded to the survey and the data was analyzed using SPSS 18.0. To test the hypotheses of this study, correlation analysis and regression analysis were conducted. The results of this study showed that entrepreneurship education, role model, family entrepreneurial experience and career preparation behavior were positively related to career decision self-efficacy. While gender were not positively related to career decision self-efficacy. This study reconfirms the importance and change of recognition of university entrepreneurship education for enhancing decision-making self-efficacy as well as the importance of career preparation behavior, role model and family entrepreneurial experience that have a significant effect on career decision of university students.
