Types of career decision status of specialized technical high school students were divided into four groups based on career decision status and types of emotional state. Results showed the decision-comfort(51.3%), decision-discomfort(25.6%), indecision- discomfort(15.3%), indecision-comfort(1.3%) in order. Social support were selected as variables affecting the comfort and discomfort of two groups and the determining factor which distinguished four groups. Result of the analysis showed that social support has statistically significant impact on whether it was decision or not and comfort or not. But career decision-making self-efficacy has no big impact on career decision types. Taking all results of this study together, we can see that specialized technical high school students feel comfortable and they decide the career, but still many students feel uncomfortable on their decision after deciding their career. It suggests the need of development and operation of program about emotional status of career decision which can help specialized technical high school students prepare their career comfortably after they decide on the career, and the need of segmented career counseling approach including social support group.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine study abroad participation and its relationship with career decision self-efficacy. It also aims to explore the explanatory factors for this relationship using mixed methods. Data were collected from 258 study abroad participants using pre- and post-test surveys at the A university. Subsequently, qualitative interviews with 16 participants were conducted to explain quantitative results. Findings showed that the career-related achievement goal and participants' interactions with local students played an important role in participants' career development. On the other hand, the group of participants whose career decision self-efficacy decreased after participation were also identified. This finding can be understood from the qualitative finding that participants bounced back to their previous career plans after return, re-experiencing the barrier of reality in finding a job in the Korean society. This is different from the circumstances in a destination country they studied abroad in. In addition, the quantitative finding can be understood from the qualitative finding that some students decided to participate in study abroad program simply for vacation and international experiences, without trying to relate it to career exploration. Based on findings from this study, implications for higher education institutions running a study abroad program were discussed and suggestions for future research were provided.

  • This study was conducted to investigate the relationship among major satisfaction (MS), clinical competence (CC), career decision-making self-efficacy (CDMS), and career decision level (CDL) for undergraduate nursing students. A self-report instrument was used to measure MS, CC, CDMS, and CDL. Questionnaires were completed by 307 nursing students in three nursing colleges, and path analysis was employed to validate the proposed model and analyze the causal relationships among variables. Four constructs (MS, CC, CDMS, and career decision) were analyzed. To build a path model, MS and CC were linked to CDMS and career decision. The initial analysis suggested that the modification needed modification; therefore, a covariance link was added. The overall goodness of fit for indices indicated satisfactory path analysis. The indices were revealed as $x^2=2412$, GFI=0.996, AGFI=0.961, and RMSEA=0.068. As a result, the proposed model was acceptable with a good fit, and there were significant direct and indirect effects of paths in the model. Specifically, MS and CC had a direct influence on CDMS, and MS and CDMS directly affected CDL. Moreover, MS and CC had indirect effects on CDL through CDMS. These results imply that students' CDMS should be seriously considered when designing counseling programs for career guidance, and substantiality of CC education is needed to improve CDMS. These results may provide a practical guideline to provide educational intervention for nursing students.

The pretest poll was performed on June 1, 2017 and posttest poll was performed 2 weeks later without any treatment in the control group. In the experimental group, the pretest poll was performed on July 25 before the emergency treatment education program and the posttest poll was performed on August 31 after the education program. The emergency treatment education program for the experimental group consisted of 2 hours of emergency treatment instruction, autonomously watching videos, and 4 hours of teaching elementary students about CPR for adults and first aid for airway obstruction, burns, bleeding, and fractures as a lecturer. The data were analyzed using descriptive analysis, independent t-test, $x^2$ test, and paired t-test with SPSS/WIN 20.0. After receiving the emergency treatment education program, a difference was observed in self-leadership (t=2.08, p<.05), career decision-making self-efficacy (t=4.22, p<.05) and nursing performance ability (t=5.02, p<.05) in the experimental group.
