Photo-capacitor electrodes are attracting great attention because of their high capacitance and potential applications in electronic devices. Carbon capacitor, active carbon capacitor and its combination will be fabricated using simple sandwich capacitor electrode method as carbonaceous material on each type of capacitor electrodes with 20 ${\times}$ 15 mm cell size. Carbon/active carbon cell was fabricated using sol-gel process with 120oC dry temperature in l hour and using sintering process with 500oC in 2 hour. The effect of sintering temperature on carbon properties was also investigated with X-ray diffraction technique to get the best sintering temperature. The detail of fabrication process will be explained. Elemental composition in electrode material can be measured using quantitative spectroscopic as and a cyclic voltammetric technique was used to study the combined effects of electrode material and effect of annealing temperature and also time on the capacitance of thermally treated in capacitor electrode. In this work, characterization impedance technique is used to measurement of capacitance and giving complementary results. Active carbon as carbonaceous material has a better capacitance in charge/discharge process with mean thickness $32{\mu}m$ and with particle size $1{\mu}m$ to $4.5{\mu}m$ in 20 ${\times}$ 15 mm sample size of capacitor electrode.

This paper presents characteristics of frequency-dependent grounding impedance and transient grounding impedance for the carbon compound grounding electrode used in the installation of computerized electronic equipment and lightning protection system. The frequency-dependent grounding impedances were measured by applying sinusoidal currents in the frequency range from 100 [Hz] to 10[MHz], and the transient grounding impedances were examined by subjecting the impulse current with the front-time between 1~80[${\mu}s$]. As a result, the ground resistance of the carbon compound grounding electrode is less than that of another type grounding electrodes. The transient grounding impedance is relatively low and the conventional grounding impedance is rather lower than the ground resistance. The frequency-dependent grounding impedance of the carbon compound grounding electrode is capacitive and the grounding impedance is decreased with increasing the frequency of injected currents. Therefore in the case that the carbon compound grounding electrode is jointly used with large-scaled grounding electrodes, it is possible to reduce the high frequency grounding impedance of the integrated grounding electrode system.

A highly sensitive electrochemical detection method for dopamine (DA) has been developed by relying on a multiwalled carbon nanotube (CNT)-sol-gel titania-Nafion composite film modified glassy carbon (GC) electrode. The CNT-titania-Nafion/GC electrode exhibited excellent electrocatalytic activity towards DA. Therefore, the CNT-titania-Nafion/GC electrode showed improved voltammetric and amperometric responses for DA compared to those obtained with both titania-Nafion/GC and Nafion/GC electrodes. The CNT-titania-Nafion/GC electrode gave a linear response ($R^2$ = 0.999) for DA from $0.5\;{\mu}M$ to 0.5 mM with a detection limit (S/N = 3) of $0.1\;{\mu}M$ and a good sensitivity of 150 mA/M while other electrodes such as CNT-Nafion/GC, titania-Nafion/GC, and a bare GC gave a sensitivity of 89, 39, and 36 mA/M, respectively. Besides, the CNT-titania-Nafion/GC electrode displayed very fast response time within 2 s. The modified electrode showed good selectivity against ascorbic acid. The modified electrode showed good stability and reproducibility. The CNT-titania-Nafion/GC electrode was applied to the determination of DA in urine and serum samples.

Studies on porous oxide electrode, dye and electrolyte for dye-sensitized solar cells have been intensively carried out until now. However, counter electrode have not been much studied so far. Accordingly, it is needed to investigate new counter electrode materials with superior catalyst property and to substitute for Pt electrode. In this case, carbon nano-tubes (CNTs) are one of alternatives for counter electrodes as following merits: low resistivity, excellent electron emission property, large surface area and low cost due to development of mass production technique. Such advantages gave us to select multiwalled CNTs (MWCNT) as counter electrode for dye-sensitized solar cell. Also, cyclic voltammetry and impedance spectroscopy were used to investigate electrochemical properties of both CNT electrode and Pt electrode. It was found that sheet resistance of CNT electrode was similar to that of Pt electrode, also, electrochemical properties of CNT electrode was superior to that of Pt electrode on the basis on the measurement of CV and impedance spectrum. It was found that CNT is likely to be a very promising electrode material for dye solar cells.

Differences in electrode properties and in fluorine electrolysis behaviors of various carbon anodes, which were the YBD-like grade carbon, the YBD grade carbon and the P2X grade carbon, containing different pore sizes and distributions were investigated. The evaluations were performed by measuring their mechanical properties, cyclic voltammograms and chronoamperometries in 0.5 M $K_2SO_4$ solution with 1 mM $[[Fe(CN)_6]^\;{3-}/Fe(CN)_6$] $^{4-}$ redox couple and electrochemical behaviours of fluorine electrolysis in molten KF . 2HF electrolyte at $85^{\circ}C$. It was found that the P2X grade carbon anode showed better electrode properties in the cyclic voltammogram and chronoamperometry than the other carbon anodes while the YBD-like grade carbon anode which contained the pore size of 200~300$\mu$m showed superior electrode properties for fluorine electrolysis to the others. These differences in the electrode properties of various carbon anodes seemed to be owing to different sizes and distributions of pores on their surfaces.
The electrode for gas sensor was prepared by using pitch-based activated carbon fibers and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) to investigate the toxic gas sensing characteristics. The physicochemical properties of activated carbon fibers electrode for gas sensor were analyzed with SEM and BET. Toxic gases sensing property of the electrode was also identified by different toxic gases such as $NH_3$, NO and $CO_2$. The specific surface area of activated carbon fibers electrode for gas sensor was decreased by 33% owing to PVA used as a binder compared with the activated carbon fibers. However, its pore size distribution of the ACF electrode was not greatly influenced by PVA. The activated carbon fibers electrode for gas sensor responded to toxic gases by electron hopping unlike semiconductor based gas sensors. In this study, activated carbon fibers electrode was decreased to 7.5% in resistance for the NH3 gas of the 100 ppm concentration and its $NH_3$ gas sensing property was confirmed the most excellent compared with other toxic gases.

The photovoltaic properties and microstructure changes were observed while perovskite solar cells (PSCs) with a fabricated carbon electrode were formed using the following annealing processes: hot-plate, oven, and rapid thermal annealing (RTA). Perovskite solar cells with a glass/FTO/compact TiO2/meso TiO2/meso ZrO2/carbon structure were prepared. The photovoltaic properties and microstructure changes in the PSCs were analyzed using a solar simulator, optical microscopy, and field emission scanning electron microscopy. An analysis of the photovoltaic properties revealed outstanding properties when RTA was applied to the cells. Microstructure analysis showed that perovskite was formed locally on the carbon electrode surface when hot-plate and oven annealing were applied. On the other hand, PSC with RTA showed a flat surface without extra perovskite agglomeration. Denser perovskite formed on the porous carbon electrode layer with RTA showed superior photovoltaic properties. These results suggest that the RTA process might be appropriate for the massive production of carbon electrode PSCs considering the processing time.

The purpose of this research is to prepare the aluminum electrode coated with activated carbon for removing air pollution dust. The experiments were studied on the selection of optimal polymer for binding aluminum plate with powdered activated carbon, preventing the pore blocking of activated carbon from polymer binder, and the dust treatability for the prepared activated carbon electrode. The optimal adhesive for coating activated carbon on an electric aluminum plate was polyvinyl acetate (PVA) with vinyl functional group. For the opening of the blocked pore with polymer, it was very effective to embed polymer solvent in pore of activated catbon firstly before mixing activated carbon with PVA, and then to devolatilize the embedded solvent of carbon pore at high temperature. The mass of trapped dust on aluminum electrode coated with activated carbon was about double of the trapped one on just aluminum electrode.

Carbon is an attractive material on electro double capacitor which depend on charge storage in the electrode/electrolyte interfacial double layer. Carbonaceous material for double layer capacitor can be obtained from carbon powder, fiber, film and porous carbon sheet. The capacitance of electrodes using an activated carbon was influenced by a filling density of the carbon, thickness and internal resistance of the electrode. In this study. to reduce internal resistance and increase electric conductivity of the electrode. activated carbon/carbon(AC/C) composite electrode was fabricated. The capacitors which have energy densities of 68F/g(at $30^{\circ}C$), 109F/g(at $60^{\circ}C$) and $68F/cm^3$(at $30^{\circ}C$), $111F/cm^3$(at $60^{\circ}C$) were fabricated by using AC/C composite electrodes.
Interconnected meso/microporous activated carbons were prepared from pumpkin seeds using a simple chemical activation method. The porous carbon materials were prepared at different temperatures (PS-600, PS-700, PS-800, and PS-900) and demonstrated huge surface areas ($645-2029m^2g^{-1}$) with excellent pore volumes ($0.27-1.30cm^3g^{-1}$). The well-condensed graphitic structure of the prepared activated carbon materials was confirmed by Raman and X-ray diffraction analyses. The presence of heteroatoms (O and N) in the carbon materials was confirmed by X-ray photoemission spectroscopy. High resolution transmission electron microscopic images and selected area diffraction patters further revealed the porous structure and amorphous nature of the prepared electrode materials. The resultant porous carbons (PS-600, PS-700, PS-800, and PS-900) were utilized as electrode material for supercapacitors. To our delight, the PS-900 demonstrated a maximum specific capacitance (Cs) of $303F\;g^{-1}$ in 1.0 M $H_2SO_4 $ at a scan rate of 5 mV. The electrochemical impedance spectra confirmed the poor electrical resistance of the electrode materials. Moreover, the stability of the PS-900 was found to be excellent (no significant change in the Cs even after 6000 cycles).
