DIP 및 BTMP 혼합비율에 따른 인쇄용지의 LCCO2 분석 (LCCO2 analysis of wood-containing printing paper by mixed ratio of de-inked pulp and BTMP)

  • Recently, there are growing interests on carbon emissions related in climate change which is worldwide emerging important issue. Some research works are now carrying out in order to reduce the carbon emission in pulp and paper industries by the synthesis of precipitated calcium carbonate using the exhaust carbon dioxide from combustion furnace or incinerator. However, for solving the original problems on carbon emission, we need to consider the analysis of basic methodology on $CO_2$ through the process efficiencies. There are two general tools for carbon emissions; one is the greenhouse gas inventory and the other is $LCCO_2$ method which is applied to particular items of raw materials and utilities in unit process. In this study, the carbon emissions in wood-containing printing paper production line were calculated by using $LCCO_2$ method. The general materials and utilities for paper production, such as fibrous materials, chemical additives, electric power, steam, and industrial water were analyzed. As the results, $Na_2SiO_3$ showed the highest loads in carbon emissions, and the total amount of carbon emissions was the highest in electricity. In the production line of printing paper using de-inked pulp and BTMP, as the mixing ratio of DIP was higher, the carbon emissions were decreased because of high use of electric power in TMP process.

The effect of nuclear energy on the environment in the context of globalization: Consumption vs production-based CO2 emissions

  • The earlier studies have analyzed theoretical links between nuclear energy and carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions concerning territorial (or production-based) emissions. Here using the latest available dataset, this study explores the impacts of nuclear energy on production-based and consumption-based CO2 emission in the era of globalization for the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) countries. The Driscoll-Kraay regression method reveals that nuclear energy is beneficial for the reduction of production-based CO2 emissions. However, it is revealed that nuclear energy does not reduce consumption-based CO2 emissions that are traded internationally and hence not comprised in conventional production-based emissions (territory) inventories. Globalization tends to reduce both production-based and demand-based carbon emissions. Finally, Environmental Kuznets Curve (EKC) is validated for both kinds of CO2 emissions. The findings may deliver practical policy implications related to nuclear energy and CO2 emissions for selected countries.

승용차의 $CO_2$ 배출가스 영향인자 특성에 관한 연구 (Study on the Characteristics of Carbon Dioxide Emissions Factors from Passenger Cars)

  • Emission regulations on greenhouse gas(GHG) in automobiles have been stringent because of global warming effect. Over 90% of total GHG emission are carbon dioxides and about 20% of this $CO_2$ emission are emitted from automobiles. In this study, 110 vehicles were tested on a chassis dynamometer and $CO_2$ emissions and fuel economy were measured in order to investigate the characteristics of $CO_2$ emission factor from passenger vehicles which are the most dominant vehicle type in Korea. The characteristics of emissions in accordance with displacements, gross vehicle weight, NIER and CVS-75 speed mode were discussed. It was found that vehicles having larger displacement, heavier gross vehicle weight, automatic transmission and specially at cold start emitted more $CO_2$ emissions. From these results, correlation between $CO_2$ emission and fuel economy was also obtained. This study may contribute to evaluate domestic greenhouse gas emissions and establish national policies on climate changes in future.

LAEEM에 의한 전국 매립가스 발생량 추정에 대한 연구 (A Study on the Estimation of Landfill Gas Emission by LAEEM in KOREA)

  • Recently almost wastes except recycled garbage are dumped into landfill site in Korea. Landfills are significant compounds (NMOCS) are produced. NMOCS include reactive volative organic compound (VOC) and hazardous air pollutants. LAEEM (Landfill Air Emissions Estimation Model) developed by Control Technology Center, V.S. EPA is used to estimate a mount of landfill gas from all landfills. As the result, landfill gas 4,121,000 ton, carbon dioxide 2,951,000 ton, methane 1,1120,000 ton are estimated as emissions from all landfills in Korea.

우리나라 쇠고기 소비 행태 변화에 의한 이산화탄소 배출 변화량 예측 (Prediction of the Carbon Dioxide Emission Change Resulting from the Changes in Bovine Meat Consumption Behavior in Korea)

  • A consumption based study on the carbon dioxide ($CO_2$) emission change due to the changes in the bovine meat consumption behavior in Korea was carried out. It was found that if the consumption of bovine meat be reduced by half, the reduction amount of $CO_2$ emissions be over 0.8 $MtCO_2e$ in all senarios in 2023. This amount is equivalent to over 50% of the greenhouse gases (GHGs) emission reduction target in agriculture and forestry, and fishery, a significant reduction. It was also found that the $CO_2$ emission reduction amount in consumption-based approach was the largest when the consumption of the imported bovine meat be reduced, though the difference was not that large.

  • Recently, carbon dioxide emissions have increased in succession according to the development of industry. also, cement of construction materials is being increased carbon dioxide during the manufacturing process. it is predicted that amount of carbon dioxide will be produced about 10 % in the world. as a way of solve this problem, it is used to reduce the amount of cement and to replace cement using industrial by-products such as blast furnace slag, fly ash, and red-mud. but, these are not advanced in our country. Thus, the purpose of this study is to analyze the strength property of binary blended geopolymer concrete. So, this study carries out the basic performance test of concrete such as, slump, air content and compressive strength.

우리나라 이산화탄소의 배출량 및 전지구적 대기중 농도에 대한 기여도 분석 (The Analysis of Carbon Dioxide Emission in Korea and Its Contribution to Global-Scale Average Carbon Dioxide Concentration)

  • Carbon dioxide emission has been increased by 7% in an annual average toward 212.5 million tons in 1990 from 108.7 million tons in 1980. Among emissions in 1990, industry, residential / commercial, transportation, other and non-energy have occupied 91.12, 68.04, 42.13, 7.13 and 4.09 million tons respectively. The Korea-scenarios corresponding to those of IPCC that is Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (A : modest control of $CO_2$; B : stringent control of $CO_2$, C: shifting fuel to renewable and nuclear energy in the second half of the next century ; and D: shifting fuel to renewable and nuclear energy in the first half of the next century show that the global-scale contributions of atmospheric $CO_2$ concentration are 0.77, 0.64 and 0.78% in 2050 for cases A,B, and C respectively. In all cases, the contributions were smaller than 0.09 % in 1985.

지속가능 섬유 소재 추적성과 저탄소화 공정 (Low Carbonization Technology & Traceability for Sustainable Textile Materials)

  • To realize the traceability of sustainable textile products, this study presents a low-carbon process through energy savings in the textile material manufacturing process. Traceability is becoming an important element of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), which confirms the eco-friendliness of textile products as well as supply chain information. Textile products with complex manufacturing processes require traceability of each step of the process to calculate carbon emissions and power usage. Additionally, an understanding of the characteristics of the product planning-manufacturing-distribution process and an overall understanding of carbon emissions sources are required. Energy use in the textile material manufacturing stage produces the largest amount of carbon dioxide, and the amount of carbon emitted from processes such as dyeing, weaving and knitting can be calculated. Energy saving methods include efficiency improvement and energy recycling, and carbon dioxide emissions can be reduced through waste heat recovery, sensor-based smart systems, and replacement of old facilities. In the dyeing process, which uses a considerable amount of heat energy, LNG, steam can be saved by using "heat exchangers," "condensate management traps," and "tenter exhaust fan controllers." In weaving and knitting processes, which use a considerable amount of electrical energy, about 10- 20% of energy can be saved by using old compressors and motors.

  • 연구목적: 본 연구는 수도권 폐기물 차량을 대상으로 네트워크 차원에서의 자율주행기술 적용에 따른 이산화탄소(CO2) 배출량 변화를 정량적으로 제시하는데 목적이 있다. 연구방법: 2030년을 목표연도로 분석 방법은 미시행시 사용자균형배정을 통해 도로 링크별 이산화탄소(CO2) 배출량을 추정하였다. 시행시는 폐기물 차량의 자율주행기술 적용에 따라 군집주행한다는 전제하는 노선배정을 수행하였으며, 그 외 수단은 노선배정 결과를 반영한 사용자균형배정으로 이산화탄소(CO2) 배출량을 추정하였다. 연구결과: 분석 결과, 이산화탄소(CO2) 배출량은 전국단위의 네트워크에서 약 56.9톤/일이 감축되는 것으로 나타났으며, 수도권은 약 54.7톤/일이 감축되는 것으로 분석되었다. 결론: 본 연구는 자율주행기술이 가져올 다양한 사회적 효과 중 환경적 측면에서의 영향을 정량적으로 제시하였으며, 향후 다양한 분석 방법론 개발과 관련 연구가 지속적으로 수행되어야 할 것이다.

국산 구조용 집성재의 환경부하 정량화를 위한 온실가스 배출량 분석 (Assessment of Carbon Emission for Quantification of Environmental Load on Structural Glued Laminated Timber in Korea)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 국산 구조용 집성재를 대상으로, 제조과정의 탄소배출을 정량화하고 탄소배출 저감방안을 제시하는 것이다. 총 2개소의 구조용 집성재 제조업체를 대상으로 원료, 수송, 제조 공정, 제조에 의한 에너지소비량 등을 현장 실사하였다. 현장에서 수집한 자료 및 구축된 전과정목록과 같은 관련문헌을 토대로 단위부피당 탄소배출을 정량화하였다. 국산 구조용 집성재의 제재 및 건조, 집성 공정별 온실가스 배출결과는 각각 31.0, 109.0, 94.2 kg $CO_2eq./m^3$으로 나타났다. 수입 구조용 집성재와 비교하였을 때 약 13% 온실가스를 적게 배출하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 기존의 건조 에너지원을 바이오매스로 전환시에는 기존 대비 37%의 온실가스를 감축하여 친환경성을 제고할 수 있을 것으로 판단되었다. 본 결과는 향후 목조주택의 환경성을 규명하기 위한 전과정평가 수행 시, 투입된 목재제품의 전과정목록분석을 위한 기초자료로 활용될 것으로 기대된다.
