Estimation of Passenger Car Equivalents at Urban Expressway by Microscopic Headway Method (도시고속도로에 있어서 차두시간의 분석에 의한 승용차환산계수 산정)

  • This research addressed the problem of describing how the operating characteristics of passenger car and large vehicle differ qualitatively and quantitatively through the analysis of field survey data. A formulation that estimates passenger car equivalents used in this paper is derived by microscopic headway method. Regression analysis was used to focus on the effect of vehicle type on intervehicular spacings and the modeling technique for the statistical analysis was detailed.

Trends of Chuna Manual Therapy on Traffic Accident in Korea from 2005 to 2014 (최근 10년간 교통사고 환자의 추나치료에 대한 국내 연구 동향)

  • Objectives This study is to investigate domestic trends of chuna manual therapy on traffic accident for recent 10 years. Methods We searched the studies on chuna manual therapy for traffic accident in 6 Korean web databases. Consequently, 17 research papers were founded. We analyzed these papers according to their published year, the titles of journal, the type of study, the number of cases, the sites of injury, assessment scales of study, and ethics of research. Results 17 papers were published since 2005. The studies on chuna manual therapy about traffic accident were mainly published in the journal of korean society of chuna manual medicine for spine & nerves and the journal of korean medicine rehabilitation. All papers were clinical research include 2 case series, 2 non randomized controlled trials (NRCTs), 13 randomized controlled trials (RCTs). The most frequently occured symptom was neck pain. In assessment scales, visual analog scale (VAS) was mainly used. All clinical studies were not mentioned about approval of institutional review board (IRB). Conclusions In this study, we analyzed the trends of chuna manual therapy on traffic accident in Korea from 2005 to 2014. In reviewing published papers, we found several weak points in methods of research and quality of study protocol. It is needed to adjust these problems for development of future researches.

  • In order to achieve a sustainable competitive advantage in the expanding maritime transportation market, most shipping companies are making every effort to reduce transportation costs. Likewise, the car shipping companies, which carry more than 80% of total car import and export logistics volume, also do their utmost for transportation cost saving. Until now many researches have been made for efficient maritime transportation, but studies for car shipping companies have rarely been made. For this reason, this study has tried to develop a maritime transportation planning support system which can help to save logistics costs and increase a competitive power of car shipping companies. To this end, instead of manual effort to solve the routing problem of car carrier vessels, this study has proposed a genetic algorithm. The performance of the genetic algorithm will be evaluated by comparing with the optimal solution of integer programming model.

  • When raining or snowing, windshield wiper system is very important for safety of driver. However, manual wiper system frequently needed to be controlled for sufficient visibility and it was very uncomfortable. So, rain sensor which controls automatically was developed. This rain sensor technology uses optical sensing technique sensed the rainfall by receiving reflected light of rain dropped on the windshield. The technology used optical sensor was simple and easy to implement as a rain sensing system in the car. However, it is sometime shown low accuracy to measure rainfall on the windshield when affected by ambient lights from surroundings. It is also given inconvenience to the driver to control the car. To solving these problems, we propose a rain sensing system using image sensor and the fuzzy wiper control algorithm.

  • The main concepts in the design and construction of an motorized wheelchair for loading in the car which is intended to drive a disabled to long distance. The wheelchair is basically a powered and folding, so it is designed to motorized manual wheelchair by modularity method. The wheelchair has been installed with a power motor module, battery module, and drive & control module. The goal of this project is to develop a wheelchair that has multifunction and operated disabled who has variety impairment. So we are currently working.

  • Automatic Transmission System(ATS) was designed to replace the human's manual operation of the gear box. So far, this system operates with the fixed shift pattern information. In this paper, new algorithm considering driver's operation tendency is proposed. Also, to get rid of the uselessly frequent shift of the ATS, the conditions and the status of the vehicle would be included for the evaluation in making a decision of shifting. A field test is done in a car equipped with the computer set connected to Transmission Control Units(TCU) to check the status of the test car, and it shows the excellency of the proposed algorithm.

  • As a part of HMS(Human-Machine System), the car is very important thing in common life. It is also a significant part to study on the controllers of car that is intentively related with all sensibilities during driving. There are lots of controllers on seating buck of the car. However, there are few study on the sensibility analysis of them. Most of all, the foot controller could be easily overlooked because it could be invisible. This study was based on relationship that the controllers fitted to the driving posture in the drivers' sensibility difference of two transmission modes, automatic and manual transmission. The results show the driver's preference driving posture and sensibility in two kinds of transmission cars. Consequently, it should be designed the seating buck for two different types respectively to be taken comfort driving posture and improve the safety for drivers. Also, it could reduce the fatigue and discomfort in the task of driving. The design of the controllers strongly effects on the drivers' response time. hereby this study was accessed to the sensibility of Korean with analyzing the relationship, quantitative data, and sensibility difference between two kinds of transmission cars.

Development of Performance Test Equipment for Easy-Hill Assist Valve (EHA 밸브 성능시험 장치 개발)

  • When a manual transmission equipped car stops on an incline where the nose of the car is higher than the rear, hill-start control or hill-holder could prevent the vehicle from rolling backward as the car moves forward. The easy-hill assist valve consists of a check valve and a needle type ON/OFF solenoid valve connected in parallel; it is a hydraulic actuator that can maintain brake pressure using an electrical signal from the ECU. As the EHA valve is a safety-related component of the brake system, high reliability as well as superior dynamic performance is required for it to be applied in commercial vehicles. This paper presents the design of the EHA valve as a piece of equipment that can simulate the brake actuation pressure with a pressurizing piston. Following specific test standards, the experimental results validate the implemented functions of the test equipment, proving the test stand to be effective for the performance and endurance of the EHA valve.

  • The two-lane, two-way highway simulation program(TWOPAS) is evaluated for Korean Highway Capacity Manual Study. TWOPAS program input variables, especially related vehicle performance, traffic flow relationship, car-following model and passing logic are examined and modified through the analysis results of our two-lane, two-way highway traffic characteristics. Simulation outputs with and without modification are compared with the field data. The results show that improved TWOPAS program(TWOPAS KI) is well suitable for simulating our two-lane, two-way highway condition.

  • The electrical detector and computer systems for traffic flow and speed measurement are demonstrated in this paper. For the best traffic control optimization, linear and non-linear equations in the transition state are dealing with the perturbation of the linear car-following. In the conclusions, we construct a realizable system for the central automatic traffic control with a computer. Furthermore, fixed periodic switching system by manual with the automatic traffic control system is recommended for emergency perturbation.
