  • US DoD operated JCIDS(Joint Capability Integration and Development System) for top down requirement generation. Although the JCIDS can be a good practice for the countries which are trying to shift from bottom up to top down requirement generation, it contains many processes related with review and approval. In this study we structured a joint capability integration and development process from the JCIDS eliminating the organization dependent review or approval process so that it can be applied to any organization with some modification. Furthermore we implemented the process in the computer aided systems engineering tool, Cradle, for convenient use of the process. The result of this study can provide a basic process for top down capability development, and an efficient why of doing each element of the process using CASE tool.

  • The effect of learning orientation on company innovation and innovation capability are explored based on survey data collected from 154 small and medium-sized manufacturing firms. The theoretical links between learning orientation and company innovation as well as innovation capability are investigated in four research models that compare textile and non-textile manufacturing firms. Learning orientation has a significant effect on company innovation and innovation capability in the model test. However, some of the three segmented factors (commitment to learning, shared vision, and open-mindedness) of learning orientation had no significant effect on company innovation and innovation capability. Company innovation and innovation capability of textile manufacturing firms are predicted by the commitment to learning and shared vision, whereas those of non-textile firms were determined by shared vision and open-mindedness. Differences show that firms may need to put weight on some distinctive aspects of learning orientation according to the business categories in order to enhance company innovation.

  • Process capability indices are widely used in industries and quality assurance system. In past years, process capability analysis have been used to characterize process performance on the basis of univariate quality characteristics. However, in actual manufacturing industrial, statistical process control (SPC) often entails characterizing or assessing processes or products based on more than one engineering specification or quality characteristic. Therefore, the analysis have to be required a multivariate statistical technique. This paper introduces to multivariate capability indices and then selects a multivariate process capability index incorporated both the process variation and the process deviation from target among these indices under the multivariate normal distribution. We propose a new multivariate capability index $MC_{pm}^+$ using quality loss function instead of the process variation and this index is compared with the proposed indices when quality characteristics are independent and dependent of each other.

  • IoT (Internet of Things) propels current networked communities into a advanced hyper-connected society/world where uniquely identifiable embedded computing devices are associated with the existing internet infrastructure. Therefore, the IoT services go beyond mere M2M (Machine-to-Machine communications) and should be able to empower users with more flexible communication capabilities over protocols, domains, and applications. In addition, The access control in IoT need a differentiated methods from the traditional access control to increase a security and dependability. In this paper, we describe implementation and design of the capability token based system for secure access control in IoT environments. In the proposed system, Authorities are symbolized into concepts of the capability tokens, and the access control systems manage the tokens, creation, (re)delegation and revocation. The proposed system is expected to decrease the process time of access control by using capability tokens.

  • This study identifies influential factors for invigorating the public management office (PMO) system for system integration (SI) projects in public sectors and analyzes the priority of each factor from the point of different stakeholders, i.e., owners, SI company, and PMO. Based on the literature review, four first-level influential factors are identified: legal system maintenance, owner's capability, SI company's capability, and PMO's capability. Among them, the PMO's capability is determined as the most critical factor by all the stakeholders. Among the second-level influential factors, the capabilities of professional engineers and project managers are considered as important among the PMO's capability, whereas the reasonable consulting fee is considered as the most critical factor among the legal system maintenance. With respect to each stakeholder, project management capability is considered as the most important factor for owners, while the reasonable consulting fee is considered as the most important factor for PMO.

  • In order to prepare against the unpredictable provocation of nK on NWI, instead of the threat based force enhancement, sufficient capability based force planning is required in consideration to enemy capability, operations environment, and technological development. This thesis proposes a method on how to prioritize the required capabilities of NWI during the process of identifying capabilities and investing on the decided acquisition assets. Ambiguity in deciding the priority is eliminated and detailed planning is possible through instituting relationship of organization, operation and capability, and by designating weight based on the above relationship. This method identify the various operations and required capabilities, classify the order of priority clearly for NWI, when compare to other method of priority decision. Although capability based force planning requires more assets and faces limitations due to budget, this method will provide and efficient decision making procedure through precise prioritization.

  • "Performance-based design (PBD)" is based on designing a structure with choosing a performance target under design criteria to increase the structure's resistance against earthquake effect. The plastic hinge formation is determined as one of the fundamental data in finite elements nonlinear analysis to distinguish the condition of the structure where more significant potential damage could occur. If the number of plastic hinges in the structure is increased, the total horizontal load capability of the structure is increased, also. Theoretically, when the number of plastic hinges of the plane frame structure reaches "the degree of hyperstaticity plus one", the structure will reach the capability of the largest ultimate horizontal load. As the number of plastic hinges to be formed in the structure increases towards the theoretical plastic hinge number (TPHN), the total horizontal load capability of the structure increases, proportionally. In the previous studies of the authors, the features of examining the new performance criteria were revealed and it was formulated as follows "Increase the total number of plastic hinges to be formed in the structure to the number of theoretical plastic hinges as much as possible and keep the structure below its targeted performance with related codes". With this new performance criterion, it has been shown that the total lateral load capability of the building is higher than the total lateral load capability obtained with the traditional PBD method by the FEMA 440 and FEMA 356 design guides. In this study, PBD analysis results of structures with frame carrier systems are presented in the light of the Turkey Building Earthquake Code 2019. As a result of this study, it has been shown that the load capability of the structure in the examples of structures with frame carrier system increases by using this new performance criterion presented, compared to the results of the examination with the traditional PBD method in TBEC 2019.

  • This study analyzed the impact of supply chain management (SCM) and e-SCM on change acceptance capability, information sharing capability, partnership management capability, and business performance. This study and analysis were conducted targeting the employees of companies that introduced SCM and e-SCM in the metropolitan area and provinces. Change Acceptance Capability, Information Sharing Capability, Partnership Management Capability and Business Performance and the degree of relationship, between outcome variables, which are characteristic factors of SCM, were analyzed through a research model. Based on the survey results, nine research hypotheses were postulated, and the reliability, validity, and importance were examined. The research results supported by the research hypothesis can be summarized in two ways as follows. First, the company's capabilities were analyzed as major variables such as Acceptance Capability, Information Sharing Capability, Partnership Management Capability, and Business Performance. Second, the degree of relationship was analyzed in detail by classifying the necessary competencies in SCM into 4 categories, not the competencies of a specific company. This study is expected to provide appropriate information to SCM-related companies.

  • The objective of this research is to study the confirmative components of strategic intuition capability and the study of causal influence between strategic intuition capability and firm performance of SMEs in Thailand. The consistency method, structural equation models and empirical data were used to test the influential factors on firm performance. Models were then proposed for the development of the strategic intuition capability of entrepreneurs in Thailand. The research sample consisted of 342 SME provincial champion entrepreneurs listed with Thailand's Office of Small and Medium Enterprises. The research results reveal that the model of strategic intuition capability responded well to the empirical data. Additionally, a relationship was identified between firm performance and the causal influence of the strategic intuition capability of entrepreneurs. In accordance with the empirical data, the strategic intuition capability of entrepreneurs had a significant causal influence on firm performance (Chi-square = 35.71, df = 25, P-value = 0.07615, GFI = 0.98, AGFI = 0.96, RMSEA = 0.033, RMR = 0.027). Furthermore, with respect to the development of strategic intuition capability, the development of genuine wisdom based on systematic knowledge management achieved via conscious mental concentration may lead to the next stage of strategic intuition.
