  • The recent large-spatial structures are frequently made from light-weight structural system and it has a good mechanical efficiency and uses new materials. The large space is made by light-weight structural system using tension members mainly, and generally it is called a soft structure. The cable dome structures which are a soft structures are very flexible, the stresses and nodal coordinates of other members are changed when we control the stress of one member. Therefore, we have to do two kind of works for effective and accurate construction of the cable dome structures. The first work is making a working scenario to complete the final objective form and the second is revising constructional errors occurred in process of the actual works. These works are called constructional analysis. At this time, we have to consider geometric nonlinearity to reflect the sensitivity by the initial stresses of cable dome structures, and constructional analysis comes down to a nonlinear problem after all. In this study, we try to approach the constructional analysis of the cable dome structures using the numerical method, and then verify it.

  • Recently nonlinear materials are used in construction of building and bridge then various structure formats are achieved positively. one of them, cable members, are the interesting study object which increase rigidity of a total structure by inducing tension. The way of construction using cable members is increasing, so the technology of design and construction are developing. Protection Fretting Fatigue is very important to maintain efficiency of cable member permanently. However, recognition of this is somewhat humble and this paper considers anti-corrosive performance of cable.

  • The cable connection zone of the cable-stayed bridge transfers deal-load, live-load, and second-load to the cables on the structural joint zone of the cables and the main girders are the most critical parts in which big cable tensile forces are generated by those loads. Therefore, it is necessary to thoroughly check the main girder, structurally to secure the required stability. Because of the heavy tensile force of cables linked in the connection zone of the cable-stayed bridge, locally concentrated stress, as well as the dispersion of stress, occurs in the structurally contacted point of cable and main girder thus, we need to make a thorough investigation through a detailed structural analysis. Directly delivering the tensile force to the connection zone of the cable, the consequently big effect in the tensile force fluctuation caused by the live-load will make it necessary to review the fatigue strength. As the connection zone of the cable is designed to resist the tensile force of the cable, which is applied to a connecting section as a concentrated force, thick plates are used. These plates are frequently made of welded structure, thus, the investigation of the welding workability is inevitable.

  • The object of this paper is to verify possible to monitor the deformation of cable in the tensegrity structure. Also, always monitoring system of tensegrity structure using Fiber Bragg Grating Sensor is described. We carry out experiments with measuring deformation of cable in the tensegrity structure based on loading conditions. In the result of experiment, the Fiber Bragg Grating Sensors shows accurate response to the loading conditions. Therefore, we can make sure the possibility of Fiber Bragg Grating Sensor in health monitoring of the cable structure like tensegrity structure.

  • We investigate long-term motions of the cable when cable has different types of periodic forcing term. Various different types of solutions are presented by using the 2nd order Runge-Kutta method under various initial conditions. There appeared to be small- and large-amplitude solutions which have different nodal structure.

  • The High-Tc superconducting power cable consists of a multi-layer high-Tc superconducting cable core and a stabilizer which is used to bypass the current at fault time. Eddy current loss is generated in the stabilizer in normal operating condition and affects the whole system. In this paper, the eddy current losses are analyzed with respect to various structure of stabilizer by using opera-3d. Moreover, optimal conditions of the stabilizer are derived to minimize the eddy current losses from the analyzed results. The obtained results could be applied to the design and manufacture of the high-Tc superconducting power cable system.

  • Chemical structure and electrical properties such as water treeing and space charge accumulation of various raw materials(XLPE) used for power cable insulation were investigated. It was found that chemical structure was changed after crosslinking reaction and every materials have different amounts of DCP and antioxidant. Electrical properties were also changed after extraction using $CHCl_3$ and xylene. Water tree length was smaller with additives such as DCP and antioxidant and bigger with low molecular weight components of polyethylene than that of extracted samples. Heterocharge was changed into homocharge after extraction. This shows that additives and low molecular weight components of polyethylene cause the heterocharge.

  • Internal and external forces may be applied on the power cable in the both process of transportation and installation. Even though the EHV power cables have the structure of metal sheath and plastic jacket etc. to minimize these negative influences, the unusual forces result in the unexpected deformation of the cable. Compressing moulded XLPE model cable sheets were prepared and locally dented with round-edge and square-edge tools. All data were analyzed employing Weibull distribution. The breakdown strength of dented molded specimens showed lower values than the normal ones by 10-60%.
