Because of improvement of living standards and increased use of ice at home, built-in ice makers are of interest. In this study, refrigeration cycle of a unitary ice maker for residential usage was optimized using R-404A. Optimization was achieved through a search for proper refrigerant charge amount. For the present ice maker producing ice for 24 cups, the optimum charge amount was 200 g. In this configuration, the ice making cycle time was 17 minutes 53 seconds, ice production was 1.27 kg/h and COP was 0.310. After initial start-up, condensation and evaporation temperatures gradually decreased with time. As ice builds in the cup, heat transfer performance of the evaporator decreases, that results in decrease of evaporation and condensation temperatures. Replacement of existing slit nozzles with individual circular hole nozzles improved ice production capacity by 10 percent. Through visualization of ice formation in the ice cup, growth rate of the ice in the cup was relatively uniform.
This research studied the characteristics of the customer circulation in four department store food court restaurants located in Seoul. The characteristics of the customer circulation are the following: Before customers leave the dining space where they eat food, they come and go to spaces such as the water purifier space, the napkin storage, and the cup storage. On the other hand, they do not come and go from the dining space to the waste area or the area where used cups are returned. Therefore the spaces, that need to be located very near the dining space, are the water purifier space, the cup storage, and the napkin storage. The waste area does not have to be placed very near the dining area and the area where used cups are returned is not needed. A minority of customers drink water and use napkins after going to the waste area and the area where dirty dishes are kept. To prevent these customers from going against the circulation of the majority of customers, a water purifier space, a cup storage, and a napkin storage should be placed additionally connecting to the waste area and the area where dirty dishes are kept. For effective circulation plan and spatial composition of food court restaurants, these characteristics of customer circulation should be considered. It is not recommended to place the water purifier space, the napkin storage, and the cup storage, the waste area or the area where used cups are returned, and the hand cleansing facility in the same location just for the convenience of workers.
We performed an assessment of wearing, purchasing, satisfaction, and the fit of brassieres according to body and breast type for college women to provide basic data on the manufacture of an ergonomic brassiere. The classifications of domed and conical breast type or projecting and conical breast type were unclear. Flat breast were dissatisfied with the shape of small and flat, and drooping breast were dissatisfied with the shape of big, projected, and drooping. In purchasing a brassiere, the majority of subjects were ignorant of their brassiere size, and over 80% of the subjects bought a brassiere without trying it on. Over 50% of those surveyed said they found it difficult to buy a well-fitted brassiere, particularly for the flat and drooping breast type. Over 70% of those surveyed wore a brassiere of 3/4 cup size, the slim body type wore a brassiere of 1/2 cup size; however, the obese body type wore a brassiere of full-cup size. The flat-breast or slim-body wore a brassiere of a thick pad type but projecting-breast or drooping breast wore brassiere of a thin pad type. Many of the subjects wore an unfitted brassiere in cup size and under bust size. In the classification of breast type, there were slight differences between the breast type that they recognized and the breast type that they were shown. There were distinctions in function, satisfaction, and fitness based on breast type. Therefore, the development of an ergonomic brassiere should considered the characteristics of breast type for fitness and comfort.
This study was conducted to select suitable turfarasses for use at 2002 world cup soccer fields in Korea. A 1/1000 scale Inchon worldcup soccer dome was constructed for this research. Species and seeding rates of cool-season grasses used inside and outside the dome were Kentuck bleugrass 10g/$m^2$ (KB), Kentucky bleugrass 10g/$m^2$+ perennial ryegrass 10g/$m^2$ mixture (KB+PR) and Kentucky bleugrass 6g/$m^2$+tall fescue 14g/$m^2$+ perennial ryegrass 4g/$m^2$ mixture (KB+TF+PR). Warm-season grasses also used in this study were Zoysia japonica 'Anyangjungzii' (ZA) and Zoysia japonica 'Zenith'(ZZ) which were layed as sod. So, total 5 types of grasses were used inside and outside the dome. The rootzone was constructed by the multi-layer method(United States Golf Association method). The plots were designed by randomized block design. Cool-season grasses(KB, KB+PR, KB+TF+PR) were found to be better performers for visual rating and visual color than the zoysiagrasses(ZA, ZZ). There were no significant differences in turf performance within cool-season grasses, while ZA showed better turf performances than ZZ within zoysiagrasses. The green color was maintained for about 10 months in the col-season grasses(KB, KB+PR, KB+TF+PR) compared to about 5~6 months in the zoysiagrasses. Root length and density data revealed higher values for KB, KB+PR and KB+TF+PR compared to ZA and ZZ. Root performance of 22 was better than ZA within zoysiagrasses which was the opposite result of turf performances. There was also no significant difference between U performance inside and outside the dome. However, the decreasing tendency of turf quality inside the dome at the end of the study showed that more proper maintenance technology was needed inside the d[me. It could be concluded by this study that cool-season grasses(KB, KB+PR, KB+TF+PR) were more suitable turfgrasses than waits-season zoysiagrasses(ZA, ZZ) for use at 2002 world cup soccer fields in Korea.
This study was conducted to develop a 100 kPa soil tensiometer mainly consisted of a porous ceramic cup, water-holding tube, and a digital vacuum gauge, through theoretical design analysis and experimental performance evaluation. Major findings were as follows. 1. Theoretical analysis showed that air entry value of a porous media decreased as the maximum effective size of the pore increased, and the maximum diameter of the pores was $2.9\;{\mu}m$ for measuring up a 100 kPa of soil-water tension. 2. Property analysis of tensiometer porous cups supplied in Korean domestic market indicated that main components were $SiO_2$ and $Al_2O_3$ with a porosity range of $33.8{\sim}49.3%$. 3. The porous cup selected through sample fabrication and air-permeability tests showed weight ratios of 87% and 11% for $Al_2O_3$ and $SiO_2$. The analysis of SEM (scanning electron microscope) images showed that the sample was sintered at temperatures of about $1150^{\circ}C$, which consisted of pores with sizes of up to 25% of those for commercial porous cups. 4. The prototype soil tensiometer was fabricated using the developed porous cup and a digital vacuum gauge that could measure water tension with a pressure of 85 kPa in air tests. 5. In-soil tests of the prototype conducted during a period of 25-day drying showed that soil-water tension values measured with the prototype and commercial units were not significantly different, and soil-water characteristic curves could be established for different soils, confirming accuracy and stability of the prototype.
In the industrial chemical process involving combustible materials, reliable safety data are required for design prevention, protection and mitigation measures. The accurate combustion properties are necessary to safely treatment, transportation and handling of flammable substances. The combustion parameters necessary for process safety are lower flash point, upper flash point, fire point, lower explosion limit(LEL), upper explosion limit(UEL)and autoignition temperature(AIT) etc.. However, the combustion properties suggested in the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) are presented differently according to the literatures. In the chemical industries, tetralin which is widely used as a raw material of intermediate products, coating substances and rubber chemicals was selected. For safe handling of tetralin, the lower and flash point, the fire point, and the AIT were measured. The LEL and UEL of tetralin were calculated using the lower and upper flash point obtained in the experiment. The flash points of tetralin by using the Setaflash and Pensky-Martens closed-cup testers measured $70^{\circ}C$ and $76^{\circ}C$, respectively. The flash points of tetralin using the Tag and Cleveland open cup testers are measured $78^{\circ}C$ and $81^{\circ}C$, respectively. The AIT of the measured tetralin by the ASTM E659 apparatus was measured at $380^{\circ}C$. The LEL and UEL of tetralin measured by Setaflash closed-cup tester at $70^{\circ}C$ and $109^{\circ}C$ were calculated to be 1.02 vol% and 5.03 vol%, respectively. In this study, it was possible to predict the LEL and the UEL by using the lower and upper flash point of tetralin measured by Setasflash closed-cup tester. A new prediction method for the ignition delay time by the ignition temperature has been developed. It is possible to predict the ignition delay time at different ignition temperatures by the proposed model.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the breast growth variation trends and characteristics of Korean adolescent girls based on 3D body measurements. Subjects were 174 girls aged between 13 and 18. 3D body scanning data were collected and the data were measured by Geomagic Design X program. The total of 18 anthropometric measurements and 4 index items were analyzed. The main results of this study are as follows: 1) Overall, the breast growth of adolescent girls got out of children's body shapes at the age of 14 and the adult's body shapes appeared remarkably at the age of 18. Before the age of 15, the adolescent girls' breast enlarged. 2) The surface lengths of upper body, which means the breast volume, showed significant growth above B cup groups rather than under A cup groups. The demand of B cup size (32.2%) was higher than A cup size (25.9%). And 35.6% of subjects' brassiere band size was 70. 3) The thorax grew evenly in the circumference, depth and breadth. The thoracic development related to the breast volume as well as the whole upper body's development. These results reveal that it is necessary to develop adolescent girls' brassiere reflecting on adolescent girls' breast growth variation trends and characteristics by age, breast size and thoracic development.
Purpose: We consider export of Korea for Muslim population of Cairo residents in Egypt. Product instant cup noodle and yuzu tea are mainly focused on Kano model and Timko's customer satisfaction factor (CS - Coefficient) analysis and conjoint analysis. Methods: Based on the evaluation and conjoint analysis, cluster analysis was additionally applied to further exploratory research as to what kind of population the target customer has. A total of 120 people, each 60 people each, were prosecuted for Muslim women, middle middle class who had over 3,000 Korean won annual income for that study, and in Cairo in August 18. Results: The Kano analysis result Instant cup noodles act as attractive elements for packaging state, cooking method, smell and convenience, and Yuzu tea acted as an attractive element of taste, eating method, raw materials, efficacy, packaging form. Customer satisfaction factor, instant cup noodles, capacity and noodle thickness was a factor of indifference in Kano analysis, but acted as an attractive factor, the way to eat citron tea was classified as a factor of indifference. Conclusion: In the case of instant cup noodles, we first set up the taste of chicken-based soup with high appreciation as a whole, a group that likes chicken-based soup taste and oil noodles for each market segment, a taste of beef based soup And popular group that likes raw noodles Appears that diversification is necessary, and it has been found that it is necessary to develop a product type by hierarchy and marketing with different size priority from group packaging container. In the case of Yuzu tea, it is indispensable to emphasize the efficacy, in particular, energy recovery preference appears high, appealing point matching the needs of energy recovery is necessary, release the citrus fruit as a product without buckwheat in Bisson Ho, the packaging container, The group that likes cups and sticks is different and we found that it is necessary to prepare all two types.

Saccharomyces cerevisiae KNU5377 has potential as an industrial strain that can ferment wasted paper for fuel ethanol at $40^{\circ}C$ [15, 16]. To understand the characteristics of the strain, genome-wide expression was performed using DNA microarray technology. We compared the homology of the DNA microarray between genomic DNAs of S. cerevisiae KNU5377 and a control strain, S. cerevisiae S288C. Approximately $97\%$ of the genes in S. cerevisiae KNU5377 were identified with those of the reference strain. YHR053c (CUP1), YLR155c (ASP3), and YDR038c (ENA5) showed lower homology than those of S. cerevisiae S288C. In particular, the differences in the regions of YHR053c and YLR155c were confirmed by Southern hybridization, but did not with that of the region of YDR038c. The expression level of mRNA in S. cerevisiae KNU5377 and S288C was also compared: the 550 ORFs of S. cerevisiae KNU5377 showed more than two-fold higher intensity than those of S. cerevisiae S288C. Among the 550 ORFs, 59 ORFs belonged to the groups of ribosomal proteins and mitochondrial ribosomal proteins, and 200 ORFs belonged to the group of cellular organization. DIP5 and GAP1 were the most highly expressed genes. These results suggest that upregulated DIP5 and GAP 1 might take the place of ASP3 and, additionally, the sensitivity against copper might be contributable to the lowest expression level of copper-binding metallothioneins encoded by CUP 1a (YHR053c) and CUP1b (YHR055c) in S. cerevisiae KNU5377.
Objectives : This study evaluates how various traditional Korean herbal medicines assess MUC5AC expression for esophageal mucosal defense and analyzes the associated mechanisms involved in inflammation. Methods : Forty types of traditional Korean herbal medicines were assessed for in vitro antioxidant activities, and the real-time PCR method was employed to analyze MUC5AC expression under pH 4.5 conditions in human esophageal epithelial cells (HET-1A). Eight types of Korean herbal medicines were evaluated for in vitro antioxidant activities, and Reactive oxygen specise (ROS) expression was analyzed under bile salt (480 𝜇M) and pH 5.5 conditions in human esophageal epithelial cells (HET-1A). Simulation experiments involving bile salts and acidity were conducted for one hour to assess the efficacy of four drugs, and the activities of Mitogen-activated Protein Kinase (MEK), Nuclear Factor Kappa B (NF-𝜅B), and Cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) were detected through Western blot analysis. Results : Compared to the Normal group, the Control group exhibited higher ROS generation. Such increased ROS levels were significantly reduced by four extracts: Citrus Unshius Pericarpium (CUP), Cnidium officinale Rhizoma (CR), Ginseng Radix (GR), and Linderae Radix (LR). The protein expression of COX-2 decreased with the treatment of LR, CUP, and CR. Particularly, CUP and CR exhibited superior effects compared to other groups in inhibiting the phosphorylation of NF-𝜅B. Conclusion : Based on the results obtained, we have identified drugs that inhibit oxidative stress and inflammation caused by bile acid in esophageal epithelial cells. Our future plans involve comparing and analyzing the efficacy of these herbal medicines through animal experiments.
