A 5-year-old, male mixed breed dog was presented to Gyeongsang National University Animal Hospital for bilateral mandibular open fracture by bite. The dog had loss of the teeth and injury of the oral mucosa. Radio-graphic and blood examinations were conducted. Fracture lines were observed between first premolar and second premolar, but temporomandibular luxation was not observed on radiographs. In serum analysis, elevated levels of CPK and LDH were found. The dog was anesthetized and prepared for aseptic surgery. Acrylic external skeletal fixator with Kirschiner wire was applied. Pin loosening and malalignment of the right fracture line was observed at 7 weeks after surgery. We applied Kirschner-Ehmer fixator and half pins during the second surgical procedure. At 4 weeks after a second surgical procedure, the fixator and pins were removed from mandible. The fractures were healed with no complications.
This study was performed to estimate the clinical signs and biochemical para meters of indicator on acute hepatic injury induced by the administration of CCl$_{4}$ in rats. Minor behavioral changer brittleness of skin hair and decreased volume of water and food intake were observed in rats after 2 hours of $CCl_{4}$ administration compared to control group. Concentration of serum albumin has shown lower than that of control group. However concentration of total bilirubin has shown higher than that of control group. As times go onto serum LDH activity was significantly increased compared to control Broup. Serum CPK activity hasn't shown change compared to control group. Passive hemagglutination that of afetoprotein was shown negative reaction in all the treatment groups and control group.
As we understand it, Process Capability indices are intended to provide single-number assessments of ability to meet specification limits on quality characteristics of interest. As a consequence of the varied ways in which PCIs are used, there have been two natural lines of research work: $\circled1$ studies on the properties of PCIs and their estimators in many different environments; $\circled2$ construction of new PCIs purporting to have better properties in certain circumstances. The most of existing process capability indices are concerned with the single variable. But, in many cases, a quality characteristic is composed with several factors. In that case, we want to know the integrated process capability of a quality characteristic not those of each factor. In this paper, we proposed a new multivariate system process capability index called $MSPCI:SC_{psk}$ which is the geometric mean of performance measure $C_{psk}$'S, and will be used as the criterion to assess multiple response process designs. Numerical illustration is done for $SC_{psk}$, $\overline{C_p}$(f), Cp, Cpk, Cpm, and Cpsk.

In recent years there has been increasing interest in the issue of process centering in manufacturing process, The traditional process capability indices Cp, Cpk and Cpu are used to provide measure of process performance, but these indices do not represent the issue of process centering. A new measure of the process capability index Cpm is proposed that takes into account the proximity to the target value as well as the process variation when assessing process performance. However, Cpm only considers acceptance cost for deviation from target value within specification limits, do not includes economic consideration for rejected items. This paper proposes flexible process performance measures that considered quadratic loss function caused by quality deviation within specification limits, rejection cost associated with the disposition of rejected items, and inspection cost. In this model disposition of rejected items are considered under perfect corrective procedures and the absence of perfect corrective procedures.
This report was conducted to determine the changes of blood and serum chemical values on dogs infected with Babesia gibsoni. Blood and serum were obtained and analyzed with a blood chemical analyzer and calculated by Chauvent's statistical analysis. The mean values and SD were as follows, $AST 33{\pm} 23 IU/L, ALT 22{\pm}15 IU/L, BUN 18$\pm $8 mg/dl, creatinine 1.6{\pm}0.8 mg/dl, CPK 564{\pm}214 IU/L, LDH 208{\pm} 78 IU/L, ALP 52{\pm} 8 IU/L, glucose 89{\pm}38 mg/dl, RBC 3.04{\pm}0.77{\times}10^{6}/{\mu}l, hemoglobin 6.1{\pm} 1.3 g/dl, PCV 18.0{\pm }4.3%, $respectively.
This study was performed to estimate the clinical signs and changes of biochemical parameters in rats with hepatic injury induced by the administration of 2, 2'-azobis(2- amidinopropane)dihydrochloride (AAPH) . Minor behavioral change, brittleness of skin hair and decreased volume of water and feed intake were observed in ra% 2 hours after AAPH administration compared to control group. Concentration of serum albumin showed lower than that of control group. However, concentration of total bilirubin has shown higher than that of control group. As time goes on, . serum LDH activity increased significantly compared to control group, but senun CPK activity did not change compared to control group. Passive hemanglutination of $\alpha $-fetoprotein was negative in all the treaDent groups and control group.
Most of the studies conducted have investigated the beneficial effects of ischemic preconditioning on normothermic myocardial ischemia. However, the effect of preconditioning could be attenuated through the use of multidose cold cardioplegia as practiced in contemporary clinical heart surgical procedures. The purpose of this study was to investigate whether preconditioning improves postischemic cardiac function in a model of 25℃ moderate hypothermic ischemic heart induced by cold cardioplegia in isolated rat hearts. Material and Method: The isolated Sprague-Dawley rat hearts were randomly assigned to four groups. All hearts were perfused at 37℃ for 20 minutes with Krebs-Henseleit solution before the baseline hemodynamic data were obtained. Group 1 consisted of preconditioned hearts that received 3 minutes of global ischemic preconditioning at 37℃, followed by 5 minutes of reperfusion before 120 minutes of cardioplegic arrest (n=6). Cold (4℃) St. Thomas Hospital cardioplegia solution was infused to induce cardioplegic arrest. Maintaining the heart at 25℃, infusion of the cardioplegia solution was repeated every 20 minutes throughout the 120 minutes of ischemic period. Group 2 consisted of control hearts that underwent no manipulations between the periods of equilibrium and 120 minutes of cardioplegic arrest (n=6). After 2 hours of cardioplegic arrest, Krebs solution was infused and hemodynamic data were obtained for 30 minutes (group 1, 2: cold cardioplegia group). Group 3 received two episodes of ischemic preconditioning before 30 min of 37℃ normothermic ischemia and 30 minutes of reperfusion (n=6). Group 4 served as ischemic controls for group 3 (group 3, 4: warm ischemia group). Result: Preconditioning did not influence parameters such as left ventricular systolic pressure (LVSP), left ventricular end-diastolic pressure (LVEDP), rate-pressure product (RPP) and left ventricular dp/dt (LV dp/dt) in the cold cardioplegia group. (p=NS) However, preconditioning before warm ischemia attenuated the ischemia induced cardiac dysfunction, improving the LVSP, LVEDP, RPP, and LVdp/dt. Less leakage of CPK and LDH were observed in the ischemic preconditioning group compared to the control group (p<0.05). Conclusion: Ischemic preconditioning improved postischemic cardiac function after warm ischemia, but did not protect cold cardioplegic hearts.

Background: Adenosine is secreted by myocardial cells during myocardial ischemia or hypoxia. It has many beneficial effects on arrhythmias, myocardial ischemia, and reperfusion ischemia. Although many investigators have demonstrated that cardioplegia that includes adenosine shows protective effects in myocardial ischemia or reperfusion injury, reports of the optimal dose of adenosine in cardioplegic solutions vary. We reported the results of beneficial effects of single dosage(0.75 mg/Kg/min) adenosine by use of self-made Langendorff system. But it is uncertain that dosage was optimal. The objective of this study is to determine the optimal dose of adenosine in cardioplegic solutions. Material and Method: We used a self-made Langendorff system to evaluate the myocardial protective effect. Isolated rat hearts were subjected to 90 minutes of deep hypothermic arrest(15$^{\circ}C$) with modified St. Thomas' Hospital cardioplegia including adenosine. Myocardial adenosine levels were augmented during ischemia by providing exogenous adenosine in the cardioplegia. Three groups of hearts were studied: (1) group 1 (n=10) : adenosine - 0.5 mg/Kg/min, (2) group 2(n=10): adenosine -0.75 mg/Kg/min, (3) group 3 (n=10) : adenosine -1 mg/Kg/min. Result: Group 3 resulted in a significantly rapid arrest time of the heart beat(p<0.05) but significantly slow recovery time of the heart beat after reperfusion(p<0.05) compared to groups 1 and 2. Group 2 showed a better percentage of recovery(p<0.05) in systolic aortic pressure, aortic overflow volume, coronary flow volume, and cardiac output compared to groups 1 and 3. Group 1 showed a a better percentage of recovery(p<0.05) in the heart rate compared to the others. In biochemical study of drained reperfusates, CPK and lactic acid levels did not show significant differences in all of the groups. Conclusion: We concluded that group 2 [adenosine(0.75 mg/Kg/min) added to cardioplegia] has better recovery effects after reperfusion in myocardial ischemia and is the most appropriate dosage compared to group 1 and 3.
Fracture of the sternum has been considered as a serious injury and also associated with major complications such as myocardial, major thoracic vascular, and spinal injury. Retrospective datas from blunt trauma victims admitted to our hospital were analyzed to determine significance of sternal fractures and possible associated injures. 101 sternal fractures by blunt trauma were admitted from january, 1986 to december, 1995. Frequency was about 3.51 olo of the nonpenetrating chest trauma. The ratio of male to female was 1.82 versus 1. Most common cause in the stemal fracture was high decelerating injury(73 cases). Most common fracture site was sternal body(75 cases). Average days of adm ssion were 26 days. Abnormal ECG findings were sinus bradycardia(Teases), complete or incomplete RBBB(6 cases), sinus tachycardia(4 cases), specific S-T change(3 cases), 1st degree A-V block(2 cases), LVH(1 case), PVC(1 case), and Low voltage(1 case). CPK-MB was increased about 32.Lolo of sternal fractures. Except of expired 2 patients, patients were treated with conservative treatment(94 cases) and open reductions & steel wire fixations(5 cases). Complication after operation was wound infection(1 case). Causes of death were 1 hypovolemia and 1 acute respiratory distress syndrome. In conclusion, although sternal fracture is less frequent, and mostly treats with conservative treatment, it shoed be carefully observed because of critical associated injuries.
