  • Procurement decisions for inspection equipment are often made heavily based on the initial purchase price instead of the effects of inspection cost, equipment calibration and utilization over the lifetime. Cost of ownership(COO) models that take into account all of these cost factors together have been developed focusing on a single quality characteristic. In modern manufacturing environment, inspection equipment often can deal with more than one quality characteristic simultaneously. In this paper, we propose the revised COO model for the economic evaluation of the inspection equipment that can accommodate multiple quality characteristics. We also employ an engineering economy model to compare equipments with different life span. Software is developed for handy comparison of the COO of alternative equipments along with sensitivity analysis far the optimal procurement decision.

  • A commercially de-waxer which kinds of solvent after was used to remove a thick organic wax film after polishing process and several steps of SC-1 cleanings were followed for the removal of organic wax residues and particles which requires long process time and high cost of ownership (COO). DIO3 was used to remove organic wax residues too achieve low COO. In this study, 0103 rinsing could use instead of 01 water rinsing. The process time and chemical consumption were reduced by using DIO3.

  • In this paper, in order to reduce the high COO (cost of ownership) and COC (cost of consumables), we have collected the silica abrasive powders by filtering method after subsequent CMP (chemical mechanical polishing) process for the purpose of abrasives recycling. And then, we have studied the possibility of recycle of reused silica abrasive through the analysis of particle size distribution and FE-SEM (field emission-scanning electron microscope) measurements of abrasive powders. It was annealed the collected abrasive powders to promote the mechanical strength of reduced abrasion force. Finally, we compared the CMP characteristics between self-developed KOH-based silica abrasive slurry and original slurry. As our experimental results, we obtained the comparable rate of removal and good planarity with commercial products. Consequently we can expect the saving of high cost slurry.

  • CMP(chemical mechanical polishing) process has been attracted as an essential technology of multi-level interconnection. However, the COO(cost of ownership) is very high, because of high consumable cost. Especially, among the consumables, slurry dominates more than 40 %. So, we focused how to reduce the consumption of raw slurry. In this paper, We have studied the CMP (chemical mechanical polishing) characteristics of slurry by adding of raw alumina abrasive and annealed alumina abrasive. As a experimental results, we obtained the comparable slurry characteristics compared with original silica slurry in the view point of high removal rate and low non-uniformity. Therefore, we can reduce the cost of consumables(COC) of CMP process for ULSI applications.

  • The chemical mechanical polishing (CMP) process has been widely used for the global planarization of multi-layer structures in semiconductor manufacturing. The CMP process can be optimized by several parameters such as equipment, consumables (pad, backing film and slurry), process variables and post-CMP cleaning. However, the COO(cost of ownership) is very high, because of high consumable cost. Especially, among the consumables, the slurry dominates more than 40 %. In this paper, we have studied the CMP characteristics of diluted silica slurry by adding of raw alumina abrasives and annealed alumina abrasives. As an experimental result, we obtained the comparable slurry characteristics compared with original silica slurry in the view-point of high removal rate and low non-uniformity. Therefore, we can reduce the cost of consumables(COC) of CMP process for ULSI applications.

  • Costs have long since become a major issue in railway system analysis, attention is not limited to the acquisition costs alone, but encompasses all costs involved in the use and disposal of the systems. Concepts such as Life Cycle Cost(LCC), Costs Of Ownership(COO), or Total Ownership Cost(TOC) are more and more frequent in any document dealing with system analysis. Most of railway projects have applied this LCC Model to evaluate effectiveness of system acquisition cost. But these action of LCC model does not applied all the rest of system life cycle period due to the differences of its responsibility. This is why a study has been undertaken by the operation party to harmonize the most important aspects of the LCC model. This study focused on these and other objectives for introduction of method and needs for an action plan for maintenance actions involved relevant cost allocation.

  • Recently, the recycle of CMP (chemical mechanical polishing) slurries have been positively considered in order to reduce the high COO (cost of ownership) and COC (cost of consumables) in CMP process. Among the composition of slurries (buffer solution, bulk solution, abrasive particle, oxidizer, inhibitor, suspension, antifoaming agent, dispersion agent), the abrasive particles are one of the most important components. Especially, the abrasive particles of slurry are needed in order to achieve a good removal rate. However, the cost of abrasives, is still very high. In this paper, we have collected the silica abrasive powders by filtering after subsequent CMP process for the purpose of abrasive particle recycling. And then, we have studied the possibility of recycle of reused silica abrasive through the analysis of particle size and hardness. Also, we annealed the collected abrasive powders to promote the mechanical strength of reduced abrasion force. Consequently, we can expect the saving of high cost slurry.

  • CMP (chemical mechanical polishing) process remained to solve several problems in deep sub-micron integrated circuit manufacturing process. especially consumables (polishing pad, backing film, slurry, pad conditioner), one of the most important components in the CMP system is the slurry. Among the composition of slurries (buffer solution, bulk solution, abrasive particle, oxidizer, inhibitor, suspension, antifoaming agent, dispersion agent), the abrasive particles are important in determining polish rate and planarization ability of a CMP process. However, the cost of abrasives is still very high. So, in order to reduce the high COO (cost of ownership) and COC (cost of consumables) in this paper, we have collected the silica abrasive powders by filtering after subsequent CMP process for the purpose of abrasive particle recycling.
