  • In the high performance Analog Information Processing Systems(AIPS), gain boosting or additional gain stage is required when the gain is not sufficient with one stage amplification. This work shows that high gain is neatly obtained by enhancing the gain using the negative resistance element. Compared to the conventional techniques, the proposed scheme enjoys full output swing, small circuit area and power consumption, and the applications to various configurations of amplifiers. The negative resistance element is placed between the differential output nodes when used in the Op-Amp. The HSPICE simulation indicates that enhancement of more than 40 dB is readily obtained in this simple configuration when the negative resistance element is implemented in the form of cross-coupled CMOS inverters.

  • In this paper, a 1.5V CMOS high frequency operational amplifier for high frequency signal processing systems is presented. For obtaining the high gain and the high unity gain frequency with the 1.5V supply voltage, the op-amp is designed with simple two stages which are consisting of the rail-to-rail differential input stage and the class-AB output stage. The designed op-amp operates with the 1.5V supply voltage, and shows well the push-pull class-AB operation. The simulation results show the DC open loop gain of 77dB and the unity gain frequency of 100MHz for the 1㏁ ┃ 10pF load. When the resistive load R$_1$. is varied from 1㏁ to 1 ㏀, the DC open loop gain decreases by only 4dB.

  • An analytic design guide was formulated for the design of 3-stage CMOS OP amp with the nested Gm-C(NGCC) frequency compensation. The proposed design guide generates straight-forwardly the design parameters such as the W/L ratio and current of each transistor from the given design specifications, such as, gain-bandwidth, phase margin, the ratio of compensation capacitance to load capacitance. The applications of this design guide to the two cases of 10pF and 100pF load capacitances, shows that the designed OP amp work with a reasonable performance in both cases, for the range of compensation capacitance from 10% to 100% of load capacitance.

  • In this paper, a novel beta-multiplier reference current source circuit for the 800mV power-supply voltage is presented. In order to cope with the narrow input common-mode range of the OpAmp in the reference circuit, shunt resistive voltage divider branches were deployed. High gain OpAmp was designed to compensate intrinsic low output resistance of the MOS transistors. The proposed reference circuit was designed in a standard 0.18um CMOS process with nominal Vth of 420mV and -450mV for nMOS and pMOS transistor respectively. The total power consumption including OpAmp is less than 50uW.

  • VOC(coltage controlled oscillator) circuits are necessary in applications such at the demodul-ation of FM signals, frequency synthesizer, and for clock recovery from digital data. In this paper, we designed the VCO circuit based on a OTA(operational transconductance amplifier) and the OP amp which using a differential amplifier by BiCMOS circuit. It consists of a OTA, voltage contorolled integrator and a schmitt trigger. Conventional VCO circuits are designed using the CMOS circuit, but in this paper we designed newly BiCMOS VCO circuit which has a good drive avlity, As a result of SPICE simulation, output frequency is 141KHz at 105KHz, and sensitivity is 15KHz.

  • An offset compensation scheme for rail-to-rail CMOS op-amps with complementary input stages is presented. Two auxiliary amplifiers are used to compensate for the offsets of NMOS and PMOS differential input stages, and ping-pong control is employed for continuous-time operation. A 3V offset-compensated rail-to-rail CMOS op-amp has been designed and fabricated using a 0.8$\mu\textrm{m}$ single-poly, double-metal CMOS process. Measurement results show that offsets are reduced about 20 times by this scheme.

  • In this paper, a $145{\mu}W$, 87dB SNR, Low power 3rd order Sigma-Delta Modulator with Op-amp sharing is proposed. Conventional architecture with analog path and digital path is improved by adding a delayed feed -forward path for disadvantages that coefficient value of the first integrator is small. Proposed architecture has a larger coefficient value of the first integrator to remove the digital path. Power consumption of proposed architecture using op-amp sharing is lower than conventional architecture. Simulation results for the proposed SDM designed in $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS technology with power supply voltage 1.8V, signal bandwidth 20KHz and sampling frequency 2.8224MHz shows SNR(Signal to Noise Ratio) of 87dB, the power consumption of $145{\mu}W$.

  • A single-pixel photon counter is designed using a folded cascode CMOS operational amplifier which is self-biased. Since there is no need for a voltage bias circuit, the layout area and power consumption of the designed counter are reduced. The signal voltage of the designed charge sensitive amplifier (CSA) with the MagnaChip $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS process is simulated to be 138mv, near the theoretical voltage of 151mV. And the layout area of the designed counter is $100{\mu}m{\times}100{\mu}m$.
