As the number of CDMA subscribers increases, CDMA systems utilize more than one CDMA carrier In order to accommodate Increasing capacity requirement. In this paper, we present a new analytical method for evaluating the Erlang capacity of CDMA systems with multiple CDMA carriers. in the case of the algorithm proposed in 〔5〕, the calculation complexity for evaluating the call blocking probability Is increased proportionally to the sixth power of the number of used CDMA carriers when the CDMA system supports voice and data services. Consequently, It is Impractical to calculate Erlang capacity with the algorithm of 〔5〕especially when the number of used CDMA carriers is larger than 3. To resolve this problem, we propose a new analytical method for evaluating the Erlang capacity. The calculation complexity of the proposed method for evaluating call blocking probability is increased just proportionally to the second power of the number of used CDMA carriers when the CDMA systems support voice and data services.

Smart antennas will be used mon widely for the higher data rate and the larger number of users as the demand of wireless multimedia service is increased. Therefore, the BER performance is analyzed in this paper for DS-CDMA and MC-CDMA systems using smart antennas. A reverse link channel is simulated assuming the frequency selective Rayleigh fading. The simulation results are presented based on the characteristics of DS-CDMA and MC-CDMA systems according to the signal spectrum bandwidth and the method of adaptive beamforming. The BER performances of both systems are improved as the beam width of smart antennas is decreased. Also, it is shown that the performance of MC-CDMA system is much better than that of DS-CDMA system as the number of users is increased.

This paper investigates the effect a guard period (GP) in the form of a cyclic prefix for asynchronous multicarrier-code division multiple access (MC-CDMA) systems. At first, we analyze the performance of asynchronous MC-CDMA systems with a GP, which results in closed-form bit error rate (BER) performance. Furthermore, it confirms that the frequency diversity of MC-CDMA systems is identical to the path diversity. The analytical approach proposed here is extended to the case without a GP. The derived analytical results show that a GP is required for MC-CDMA systems in order to mitigate not only the effect of intersymbol interference (ISI) and intercarrier interference (ICI) but also the desired signal power degradation. In addition, the accuracy of the proposed analysis is verified by simulations.

Recently a number of multi-rate CDMA systems have been proposed for the third generation mobile communication system. Multi-Code CDMA (MC-CDMA) offers the system construction advantage of being able to use a single-rate receiver. But MC-CDMA suffers from the distortion due to the nonlinearity of the power amplifier. In this paper, we analyze the effect of the nonlinearity on the bit error rate performance of MC-CDMA systems. A polynomial model is used to represent the amplifier amplitude nonlinearities.

Mobile communication systems are required not only to support high-data-rate transmissions in favorable channel conditions but also to be able to tolerate hostile environments possibly encountered by cellular communications. This paper compares CDMA(Code Division Multiple Access), OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing), and MC-CDMA(Multi-Carrier CDMA)with inaccurate channel estimates and low SNR environments. The equations and simulation results show that the performance losses in CDMA systems due to imprecise channel estimates are not considerable while frequency-hopping of OFDM systems can result in more than l0dB SNR losses. Also, this paper show that frequency-spreading of MC-CDMA can be very helpful for channel compensation performances than frequency-hopping or time-spreading of OFDM.
The MC-CDMA(Multi-Code CDMA) systems for handling various data transmission rate which is demanded in the IMT-2000 systems are effective transmission technology, which can provide the higher data service than the conventional IS-95 CDMA systems because a user takes advantage of a number of channels. The receiver of MC-CDMA systems to be provided these data service have to be structured of demodulating simultaneously a number of traffic channels. This paper is designed the merged rake receiver demodulating simultaneously a number of traffic channels in the MC-CDMA systems. The merged rake receiver is to reduce the complexity of receiver resulting a number of channels.

Binary CDMA(B-CDMA) is a new modulation scheme that employs a constant envelope modulation scheme By quantizing the envelope of multi-codes CDMA signal into a small number of levels, the B-CDMA can reduce the peak-to-average power ratio, while preserving the advantages of CDMA signaling such as the soft capacity and robustness to interference. In this paper, we analyze the performance of B-CDMA systems in multi-path channel assuming that the spreading factor is not too small. Finally, the analytic results are verified by computer simulation.

The reverse link signal power required for multimedia traffic in multipath faded single-code (SC-) and multi-code CDMA (MC-CDMA) systems is investigated. The effect of orthogonality loss among multiple spreading code channels is herein characterized by the orthogonality factor. The required signal power in both the CDMA systems is then analyzed in terms of the relative required signal power ratio of data to voice traffic. The effect of varying system parameters including spreading bandwidth, the of orthogonality factor, and the number of spreading codes are examined. Analytical results show that MC-CDMA users transmitting only a single traffic type require significantly more power than SC-CDMA users with only a single traffic type. On the other hand, MC-CDMA users transmitting multimedia traffic require power levels approximately identical to SC-CDMA users with multimedia traffic. The results can be used in the design of radio resource management (e.g., power allocation) scheme for wireless multimedia services.

In this paper, an RRA_CDMA protocol is proposed for the integrated voice and data services in the cellular packet CDMA systems. The proposed protocol employs the RRA scheme. In the cellular CDMA systems, the backward logical channels are composed of time slots with multiple spreading codes per slot based on WB-TD-CDMA concept. When a voice terminal begins a talkspurt, it reserves one of the available spreading codes in the next slot and uses the reserved channel exclusively untill it ends the talkspurt. On th other hand, whenever a data terminal generates a packet, it selects an avaliable spreading code and transmits its packet. Throughout the results, it is shown that the system capacity increases in proportion to the number of spreading codes.

This paper presents a system to cancel the multi-user interference of synchronous DS/CDMA systems by using the estimation circuit and the reference correlator. In the code-division multiple access(CDMA) scheme, the spectrum of the user's signal is directly spreaded by means of the Simplex coed or the phase offsetted PN code. It is interesting for the Simplex code and the PN code to have a similar correalation property. It these codes are used in DS/CDMA systems, the number of acceptable users can be increased in comparison with conventioal DS/CDMA systems. This thesis presents a interference cancellation model to cancel the multi-use interference in DS/CDMA systems by using Simples code of PN code as a spreading sequence. In AWGN environment, we analyze interference generated from other users and compare the resulting performance with that of the conventioanl receiver in same user side.
