A Study on the Development of Maintenance System for Equipment of LNG-FPSO Ship (LNG-FPSO 선박 장비들의 보전활동 지원시스템 개발에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, a maintenance system is developed for LNG-FPSO topside and hullside equipment based CBM (Condition Based Maintenance) methodology. First, the development system defined the PWBS(Product Work Breakdown Structure) of major equipment of LNG-FPSO. Second, the development system developed the failure analysis, economic evaluation for optimal maintenance plan and database systems that save and manage information about equipment, failure mode, failure rate and failure cause. Finally, the verification of the development system was applied to the inlet system of topside and the pump tower system of hullside and the system was confirmed the effectiveness of CBMS(Condition Based Maintenance System).

  • The primary aim for using a Korean Condition Based Maintenance (CBM) system is to maintain military operational readiness using Interactive Collection Analysis Systems (ICAS) installed on naval vessels. Other aims are to preemptively provision maintenance and supply functions, to guarantee economical management of logistical assets, and to implement data driven equipment life cycle management. In order to accomplish these aims, it is necessary to establish standard system conditions. However, because manufacturers do not provide the technology necessary for maintenance management, it is required to retain component performance maps for each piece of equipment, and to accumulate data about frequently occurring fault patterns. This study confirms the validity of component performance maps using micro gas turbines and provides accumulated data on machine break downs. This would allow real time equipment performance checks and present performance trends. Then analysis would provide solutions for maintaining the best machine operating conditions with detailed maintenance manuals for operators. This study is a basis for further research to investigate additional ways to develop CBM using data obtained from naval vessels used in actual military operations.

  • In this study, the inverted structured electroluminescence (EL) devices were fabricated with double electron transport layers (ETLs). The conduction band minimum (CBM) of TiO2 NPs is lower than SnO2 NPs. Therefore, it is expected that inserting TiO2 NPs between the SnO2 layer and the emission layer (EML) will reduce the energy barrier and transport electrons smoothly. The quantum dot light emitting diodes (QLEDs) with double ETLs showed the enhanced emission characteristics than those with only SnO2 layer.

  • Two field research stations based upon atmospheric corrosivity monitoring combined with reinforced concrete corrosion rate sensors have been established in Kuwait. This was established for the purpose of remote monitoring of building materials performance for concrete under Kuwait atmospheric environment. The two field research sites for concrete have been based upon an outcome from a research investigation intended for monitoring the atmospheric corrosivity from weathering station distributed in eight areas, and in different regions in Kuwait. Data on corrosivity measurements are essential for the development of specification of an optimized corrosion resistance system for reinforced concrete manufactured products. This study aims to optimize, characterize, and utilize long-term concrete structural health monitoring through on line corrosion measurement and to determine the feasibility and viability of the integrated anode ladder corrosion sensors embedded in concrete. The atmospheric corrosivity categories supported with GSM remote data acquisition system from eight corrosion monitoring stations at different regions in Kuwait are being classified according to standard ISO 9223. The two nominated field sites where based upon time of wetness and bimetallic corrosion rate from atmospheric data where metals and rebar's concrete are likely to be used. Eight concrete blocks with embeddable anodic ladder corrosion sensors were placed in the atmospheric zone adjacent to the sea shore at KISR site. The anodic ladder corrosion rate sensors for concrete were installed to provide an early warning system on prediction of the corrosion propagation and on developing new insights on the long-term durability performance and repair of concrete structures to lower labor cost. The results show the atmospheric corrosivity data of the environment and the feasibility of data retrieval of the corrosion potential of concrete from the embeddable sets of anodic ladder corrosion sensors.

Enzymatic Modification of Cellulose Using Leuconostoc mesenteroides B-742CBM Dextransucrase

  • In addition to catalyzing the synthesis of dextran from sucrose as a primary reaction, dextransucrase also catalyzes the transfer of glucose from sucrose to other carbohydrates that are present or are added to the reaction digest. We have synthesized new glucans having new structures and new characteristics, by transferring D-glucose of sucrose to $\alpha$-cellulose and by using the constitutive dextransucrase obtained from Leuconostoc mesenteroides B-742CBM. The final reaction products were composed of soluble- and insoluble-glucans. The yields of soluble- and insoluble-glucans were theoretically 21% $\pm$ 2.2 and 68% $\pm$ 5.1, respectively. The remainder of the reaction products was recovered as a mixture of olgiosaccharides that could not be precipitated by 67%(v/v) ethanol. Treating the modified glucans with endo-dextranase and/or cellulase, oligosaccharides were produced that were not formed from the hydrolysis of native cellulose or B-742CBM dextran. The modification of the cellulose was confirmed by methylation and acid hydrolysis of the soluble-and insoluble-glucan. Both (1->4) and(1->6) glycosidic linkages were found in both of the glucans.

Development of Volume Modified Sorption Model and Prediction for Volumetric Strain of Coal Matrix (흡착에 의한 석탄암체의 부피변화가 고려된 흡착모델 개선 및 부피변형률 예측)

  • We proposed the improved Langmuir adsorption relations considering volume change effect of coal matrix during primary production of CBM and Enhanced-CBM with injection of carbon dioxide or CCS in coalseam but also volumetric strain. To verify this model, experimental data of pure gas adsorption such as $CO_2$, $CH_4$, and $N_2$ on coals were used to compare conventional Langmuir model with this model. From the results, we obtained that the larger adsorption capacity of coal and the higher adsorption affinity of gas, the larger error occur with Langmuir model. Using this model, however, we found not only substantially better fit in all condition but also reasonable volumetric strain of the coal matrix. We also applied this volume modified pure gas adsorption model to the IAS model to describe gas adsorption and volumetric strain for mixed gas. This modified-IAS model fitting experimental data by Hall et al(1994) improved accuracy of mixed gas adsorption calculation compared with conventional model.

  • As the COVID-19 continues, the demand for robotic technology that can be applied in face-to-face tasks such as delivery and transportation, is increasing. Although these technologies have been developed and applied in various industries, the robots can only be operated in a tidy indoor environment and have limitations in terms of payload. To overcome these problems, we developed a 2 degree of freedom(DOF) environmental adaptive robot leg with a double 1-DOF counterbalance mechanism (CBM) based on wire roller. The double 1-DOF CBM is applied to the two revolute joints of the proposed robot leg to compensate for the weight of the mobile robot platform and part of the payload. In addition, the link of the robot leg is designed in a parallelogram structure based on a belt pulley to enable efficient control of the mobile platform. In this study, we propose the principle and structure of the CBM that is suitable for the robot leg, and design of the counterbalance robot leg module for the environment-adaptive control. Further, we verify the performance of the proposed counterbalance robot leg by using dynamic simulations and experiments.

  • On a Mobile Ad hoc NETwork(MANET), it is difficult to detect and prevent misbehaviors nodes existing between end nodes, as communication between remote nodes is made through multiple hop routes due to lack of a fixed networked structure. Therefore, to maintain MANET's performance and security, a technique to identify misbehaving middle nodes and nodes that are compromise by such nodes is required. However, previously proposed techniques assumed that nodes comprising MANET are in a friendly and cooperative relationship, and suggested only methods to identify misbehaving nodes. When these methods are applied to a larger-scale MANET, large overhead is induced. As such, this paper suggests a system model called Secure Cluster-based MANET(SecCBM) to provide secure communication between components aperANET and to ensure eed. As such, this pand managems suapemisbehavior nodes. SecCBM consists apetwo stages. The first is the preventis pstage, whereemisbehavior nodes are identified when rANET is comprised by using a cluster-based hierarchical control structure through dynamic authentication. The second is the post-preventis pstage, whereemisbehavior nodes created during the course apecommunication amongst nodes comprising the network are dh, thed by using FC and MN tables. Through this, MANET's communication safety and efficiency were improved and the proposed method was confirmed to be suitable for MANET through simulation performance evaluation.

Cloning a Mannanase 26AT Gene from Paenibacillus woosongensis and Characterization of the Gene Product (Paenibacillus woosongensis으로부터 Mannanase 26AT 유전자의 클로닝과 유전자 산물의 분석)

  • An open reading frame coding for mannanase predicted from the partial genomic sequence of Paenibacillus woosongensis was cloned into Escherichia coli by polymerase chain reaction amplification, and completely sequenced. This mannanase gene, designated man26AT, consisted of 3,162 nucleotides encoding a polypeptide of 1,053 amino acid residues. Based on the deduced amino acid sequence, Man26AT was identified as a modular enzyme, which included a catalytic domain belonging to the glycosyl hydrolase family 26 and two carbohydrate-binding modules, CBM27 and CBM11. The amino acid sequence of Man26AT was homologous to that of several putative mannanases, with identity of 81% for P. ihumii and identity of less than 57% for other strains of Paenibacillus. A cell-free extract of recombinant E. coli carrying the man26AT gene showed maximal mannanase activity at $55^{\circ}C$ and pH 5.5. The enzyme retained above 80% of maximal activity after preincubation for 1 h at $50^{\circ}C$. Man26AT was comparably active on locust bean gum (LBG), galactomanan, and kojac glucomannan, whereas it did not exhibit activity on carboxymethylcellulose, xylan, or para-nitrophenyl-${\beta}$-mannopyranoside. The common end products liberated from mannooligosaccharides, including mannotriose, mannotetraose, mannopentaose, and mannohexaose, or LBG by Man26AT were mannose, mannobiose, and mannotriose. Mannooligosacchrides larger than mannotriose were found in enzymatic hydrolyzates of LBG and guar gum, respectively. However, Man26AT was unable to hydrolyze mannobiose. Man26AT was intracellularly degraded into at least three active proteins with different molecular masses by zymogram.

  • This study is a development on condition based maintenance(CBM) technology which is a core item of future autonomous ships. It is developing to design & installation of condition monitoring system and acquisition & processing of data from ongoing ships for fault prediction & prognosis of engine in operation. The ultimate goal of this study is to develop a predicts and decision support software for marine engine faults. To do this, the FMEA and fault tree analysis of the main engine should be accompanied by the analysis of classification of system, identification of the components, the type of faults, and the cause and phenomenon of the failure. Finally, the CBM system solution software could predict and diagnose the failure of main engine through integrated analysis for bid-data of ongoing ships and engineering knowledge. Through this study, it is possible to pro-actively cope with abnormal signals of engine and to manage efficiently, and as a result, expected that marine accident and ship operation loss during navigation will be prevented in advance.
