Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted with 151 nurses stationed at the cancer care units of four general hospitals located in Seoul and Gyeonggi province in Korea. Data were collected using self-reported questionnaires and the response rate was 96%. The data were analyzed using t-test, ANOVA and Pearson's correlation analysis. SPSS 12.0 was used for data analysis. Results: Nurses experienced a high level of stress in the end-of-life care settings. Their understanding of end-of-life care was above the mid-point of the scale while their training needs for end-of-life care was relatively high. The more experienced the nurses were, the more stressed they were, particularly due to excessive workload. Nurses who served longer in the cancer unit tended to show greater needs for end-of-life care training. Conclusion: This study found nurses perform end-of-life care with a high level of stress but with insufficient understanding, and thus, showed great needs for related training. Such findings can be useful to develop an end-of-life care training program for nurses.

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to perform a systematic literature review focusing on international studies to identify various factors affecting the quality of life(QOL) of dementia patients admitted to long-term care facilities. Methods: From January 2000 to July 2018, the articles published in foreign journals were searched through CINAHL and MEDLINE databases. The main search terms were'dementia or Alzheimer's'. 'quality of life', 'long-term care', 'care home', 'nursing home', 'care institution', 'residential care', 'small- scale setting'. The first 1706 articles were searched, but 10 studies were selected using the selection and exclusion criteria. Results: Analysis of ten cross-sectional studies showed that factors such as physical functioning status, ability to perform activities of daily living, and cognition showed a positive correlation with QOL. Depression and anxiety, severity of dementia, and neuropsychiatric symptoms were found to be negatively correlated with QOL. In addition, two longitudinal studies have confirmed that factors affecting QOL are affected by individual functional status and social environmental factors rather than the size and form of care facilities. Conclusion: This study summarized 10 papers and analyzed them through a systematic review of literature. We found that factors such as individual characteristics and social environment determine QOL of patients with dementia. In this study, various intervention methods to improve QOL of patients with dementia should be developed and used in long-term care facilities by identifying the factors affecting QOL of dementia patients and using them.

It pursues an improvement of service quality of health care, increases of accessability of information, reduction of medical cos and enforcement of competitiveness in health care industry. There are lots of difficulties in implication of internet technology to health care process. This is because that the characteristics of health care industry is very closed and specific and also the internet technology has the very user-oriented characters. So it is necessary to have the system independent conceptual design method to combine these two characteristics. In this paper a new modified conceptual design methodology will be proposed for the successful implementation of e-health system in korean health care industry. The proposed methodology will be verified its validity and feasibility through AHP method. And the results of this research will be implied as the basis for the development and revitalization of e-Health system in Korea.

  • This study has attempted to suggest an assistant model for systematic child care accreditation. This has been carried out from the current consciousness of such needs for child care accreditation as large regional disparity in assistant level, no indication to definite contents and method of assistance, demand for assistant professionals with intensified capacity and requirement for the support of financial and human resources. Six stages of assistant process: the stage of establishment and management of preparation class, the stage of application for assistance and consultation, the stage of assistant meeting, the stage of workshop and observation to exemplary institutions, and the stage of practical application and evaluation of visiting assistance have been suggested. Particularly in order to improve the efficiency of assistance, organization of a committee of expert advisors in each area has been indicated. For the guideline of assistant management, operation of preparation class for accreditation, security of assistant committee members, provision of systematic training and assistant manual, development of supervision program and financial support have been suggested. This assistant manual will contribute to systematic and efficient conduct of assistance program of child care accreditation.
