A Way for Maximum Use of Cancer Risk Assessment System CARA (암 발생 위험도 분석 시스템 CARA의 활용도 극대화 방안)

  • In this paper, a way for maximum use of cancer risk assessment software system CARA which can assess cancer risks by using health related information only without doctor's diagnosis is proposed. A way of maximizing the usage of CARA with use of nation wide internet network is described along with the general description of CARA. If CARA is used, the damage causing by cancer can be reduced since it is possible to sort a group of people with high risks (before diagnosis at a hospital). Also, CARA is helpful for medical research by used as a tool to reveal correlations between personal information and cancers practically. Unlike other preexisting systems, CARA is a new system which can consider 30 different cancers simultaneously and it is very efficient for early detection of cancer.

  • CARA(CAncer Risk Assessment) 시스템은 과거의 데이터와 유전적 정보를 이용하여 암 발생 위험도가 높은 사람을 선별할 수 있는 시스템이다. 본 논문에서는 과거의 데이터와 유전적 정보를 가계도를 이용하여 표현하고 이를 암 발생 위험도 평가 시스템 개발에 활용한 CARA 시스템의 구현을 시스템의 인터페이스를 중심으로 설명한다.

  • We explore an optimal consumption/portfolio and retirement problem with a CARA utility function of consumption. The relevant Bellman equation for the value function is transformed into a linear equation and the optimal strategies are obtained explicitly.

  • Today's IEEE 802.11 WLANs(Wireless LANs) provide multiple transmission rates so that different rates can be exploited in an adaptive manner depending on the underlying channel condition in order to maximize the system performance. Many rate adaptation schemes have been proposed so far while most(if not all) of the commercial devices implement a simple open-loop rate adaptation scheme(i.e., without feedback from the receiver), called ARF(Automatic Rate Fallback) due to its simplicity. A key problem with such open-loop rate adaptation schemes is that they do not consider the collision effect, and hence, malfunction severely when many transmission failures are due to collisions. In this paper, we propose a novel rate-adaptation scheme, called CARA(Collision-Aware Rate Adaptation). The key idea of CARA is that the transmitter station combines adaptively the Request-to-Send/Clear-to-Send(RTS/CTS) exchange with the Clear Channel Assessment(CCA) functionality to differentiate frame collisions from frame transmission failures cause by channel errors. Therefore, compared with other open-loop rate adaptation schemes, CATA is more likely to make the correct rate adaptation decisions. Through extensive simulation runs, we evaluate our proposed scheme to show that our scheme yields significantly higher throughput performance than the existing schemes in both static and time-varying fading channel environments.

  • I use the dynamic programming approach to study the optimal consumption and investment problem with regime-switching and constant labor income. I derive the optimal solutions in closed-form with constant absolute risk aversion (CARA) utility and constant disutility.

Access Right Assignment Mechanisms for Secure Home Networks

  • The proliferation of advanced technologies has been altering our lifestyle and social interactions-the next frontier is the digital home. Although the future of smart homes is promising, many technical challenges must be addressed to achieve convenience and security. In this paper, we delineate the unique combination of security challenges specifically for access control and consider the challenges of how to simply and securely assign access control policies to visitors for home devices and resources. We present a set of intuitive access control policies and suggest four access control settings based on our in-person interview results. Furthermore, we propose the automated Clairvoyant access right assignment (CARA) mechanism that utilizes home owners' social relationship to automatically deduce to which class a visitor belongs. The combination of CARA and the suggested mapping provides a promising first step for home policy assignment such that nonexpert home owners can let visitors use their home network with confidence. We anticipate that future research can build on our proposed mechanisms to provide confidence to non-expert home owners for letting visitors use their home network.

A Quantitative and Qualitative Study on Virtual Makeup of Instant Beautifying Application - Focus on Color and Shape (화장품 앱에서 가상 메이크업 템플릿과 메이크업 룩과의 관계에 관한 연구)

  • Inspired by the increasing popularity of cosmetic-related mobile application as a tool for instant beautification, the present study examined colors of virtual makeup templates and makeup looks. A survey study was performed by thirty-six respondents to determine the top three desirable virtual makeup templates among nineteen templates. The templates of 'Bella', 'Hilary' and 'Cara' were then analyzed by makeup specialists and color experts for the evaluation of their makeup design and colors. Each color feature of three makeup templates were also evaluated through statistical analysis of ANOVA on the measure of $L^*a^*b^*$ crossed with five types of face elements on three types of virtual makeup images. Overall results indicate that Korean female users in their 20s and 30s preferred a similar makeup concept appeared in makeup template and key worlds. They also preferred a pale skin tone with higher lightness and a slightly higher saturated lip color as an emphasis than other features.

Comparison of sequential estimation in response-adaptive designs with and without covariate-adjustment

  • Subjects on one side of the covariate population can be allocated to the inferior treatment when there is interaction between the covariate and treatment along with a response-adaptive (RA) design without covariate adjustment. An RA design allows a newly entered subject to have a better chance so that the subject is treated by a superior treatment based on cumulative information from previous subjects. A covariate-adjusted response-adaptive (CARA) is the same as RA design and additionally adjusts the allocation based on individual covariate information. A comparison has been made for the sequential estimation procedure with and without covariate adjustment to see how ignoring significantly interactive covariate affects the correct treatment allocation. Using logistic models, we present simulation results regarding the coverage probability of treatment effect, correct allocation, and stopping time.
