Metallic bipolar plate for molten carbonate fuel cell(MCFC) is composed of the shielded slot plate and the center plate. Among these, the center plate plays an important role in gas sealing. Therefore, manufacturing of the center plate is considered one of the key issues in MCFC. The center plate is manufactured by bending process. In bending process, springback and recoiling are two main problems. The aim of this article is to optimize the bending process of the center plate regardless of springback and recoiling. To achieve this goal, we proposed the punch having step to reduce springback and recoiling. Using finite element method and $L_9$ orthogonal array, we determined the main factors in the center plate bending process. And we found the optimal bending process condition for the MCFC center plate.
For the analysis of Kirchhoff plate bending problems, a new meshless method is implemented. For the satisfaction of the C¹ continuity condition in which the first derivative is treated as another primary variable, Hermite interpolation is enforced on standard reproducing kernel particle method. In order to impose essential boundary conditions on solving C¹ continuity problems, shape function modifications are adopted. Through numerical tests, the characteristics and accuracy of the HRKPM are investigated and compared with the finite element analysis. By this implementation, it is shown that high accuracy is achieved by using HRKPM fur solving Kirchhoff plate bending problems.
The plate heat exchanger is characterized. by low pressure drop and high heat transfer coefficient. The experimental study has been performed on the condensation heat transfer and pressure drop characteristics of the plate heat exchangers in this study. In the present study, a brazed type plate heat exchanger was investigated at a chevron angle of $45^{\circ},\;55^{\circ},\;and\;70^{\circ}$ with R410A. Condensation temperatures were varied from $20^{\circ}C\;and\;30^{\circ}C$, and mass flux was ranged from $13{\sim}34\;kg/m^{2}s$ with constant heat flux ($=5\;kw/m^{2}$). The heat transfer coefficient and pressure drop increased with the chevron angle. Average condensation heat transfer coefficients and pressure drops are decreased with increasing condensation tempeature.
This article deals with the buckling behaviour of multilayered magneto-electro-elastic (MEE) plate subjected to uniaxial and biaxial compressive (in-plane) loads. The constitutive equations of MEE material are used to derive a finite element (FE) formulation involving the coupling between electric, magnetic and elastic fields. The displacement field corresponding to first order shear deformation theory (FSDT) has been employed. The in-plane stress distribution within the MEE plate existing due to the enacted force is considered to be equivalent to the applied in-plane compressive load in the pre-buckling range. The same stress distribution is used to derive the potential energy functional. The non-dimensional critical buckling load is accomplished from the solution of allied linear eigenvalue problem. Influence of stacking sequence, span to thickness ratio, aspect ratio, load factor and boundary condition on critical buckling load and their corresponding mode shape is investigated. In addition, static deflection of MEE plate under the sinusoidal and the uniformly distributed load has been studied for different stacking sequences and boundary conditions.
This paper has the object of investigating dynamic stability of stiffened tapered thick plate with concentrated mass on Pasternak foundation by means of finite element method and providing kinematic design data for mat of building structures. Finite element analysis of stiffened tapered thick plate is done by use of rectangular finite element with 8-nodes. In order to analysis plate which is supported on Pasternak foundation, the Winkler foundation parameter is varied with 10, 100, 1000 and the shear foundation parameter is 5, 10, concentrated mass is $0.25m_c$, $1.0m_c$, tapered ratio is 0.25, 0.5. The ratio of In-plane force to critical load is applied as $0.4\sigma_{cr},\;0.6\sigma_{cr},\;0.8\sigma_{cr}$ respectively. This paper analyzed varying tapered ratio.
The theory of non-prismatic folded plate structures was reported by D.H. Kim in 1965 and 1966. Fiber reinforced composite materials are strong in tension. The structural element for such tension force is very thin and weak against bending because of small bending stiffnesses. Naturally, the box type section is considered as the optimum structural configuration because of its high bending stiffnesses. Such structures can be effectively analyzed by the folded plate theory with relative ease. The “hollow” bending membr with uniform cross-section can be treated as prismatic folded plates which is a special case of the non-prismatic folded plates. In this paper, the result of analysis of a folded plates with one box type uniform cross-section is presented. Each plate is made of composite laminates with fiber orientation of [ABBCAAB]r, with A=-B=45${\circ}C$, and C=90${\circ}$. The influence of the span to depth ratio is also studied. When this ratio is 5, the difference between the results of folded plate theory and beam theory is 1.66%.
In the precision hot plate for wafer processing, the temperature uniformity of upper plate surface is one of the key factors affecting the quality of wafers. Precision hot plates require temperature variations less than ${\pm}1.5%$ during heating to $120^{\circ}C$. In this study, we have manufactured the flat plate heat pipe hot chuck of circle type(300mm) and investigated the operating characteristics of flat plate heat pipe hot chuck experimentally. Various liquids(aceton, FC-40, water) were used as the working fluid and charging ratio was changed($14{\sim}36\;vol.%$). Several cases were tested to improve temperature uniformity. Major working fluid to be investigated was water. Using water, various parameters such as charging ratio, wafer operation on-off time, different working fluids. In case of water, the temperature uniformity was ${\pm}1.5%$, response time of wafer were investigated.
Experiments on the condensation heat transfer and pressure drop in the brazed type plate heat exchangers are performed with refrigerants R410A/R22. To investigate the geometric effect, plate heat exchangers with the same pitch and height but different $45^{\circ},\;35^{\circ}and\;20^{\circ}$ chevron angles are used. Varying the mass flux of refrigerant (13~34 kg/$m^2$), the condensing temperatures ($20^{\circ}C\;and\;30^{\circ}C$) and the vapor quality (from 0.9 to 0.15) at the same constant heat flux ($5kW/m^2$), the condensation heat transfer coefficients and pressure drops are measured. The heat transfer coefficients decrease slightly with increasing the condensing temperature at a given mass flux in all plate heat exchangers. The pressure drop increases with increasing the mass flux and the quality and decreasing the condensing temperature and the chevron angle.
This experimental study was carried out to examine the heat transfer characteristics of impinging air jet on a flat plate with a set of right angled triangle rods. Each right angled triangle rod in the array was positioned normal to the flow direction and parallel to the flat plate surface. The clearances from a right angled triangle rod to flat plate surface (C=1, 2 and 4 mm) and the distance from nozzle exit to flat plate (H=100 and 500 mm) were changed for the pitch between each right angled triangle rods (P=40 mm). As a result, heat transfer shows best performance at the clearance of C=1 mm, in case clearance changed, and the average heat transfer enhancement rate increased up to 47% compared to the result of a flat plate without a right angled triangle rod.
In this Paper, the ozonizer is fabricated by piling plate-type electrodes up to minimize and reduce install space. Hereby ozone generation characteristics of piled plate-type ozonizer were investigated. Inverse-polarity voltage was generated by H.V neon transformer. And 2 H.V neon transformers were used to supply high voltage each 9 electrodes of plate-type ozonizer. According to the experiments, ozone concentration, generation and yield were proportionally increased tilth increasing the number of electrode. And the maximum increase effects of 246%, 245%, and 33% were obtained when the number of electrode were increased from 3 up to 9.
