Business Strategies and Innovation for Survival During the COVID-19 Pandemic: Evidence from Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) in Indonesia

  • MSMEs encountered several issues during the COVID-19 pandemic, including decreased sales and capital, difficulties in distribution, trouble obtaining raw materials, decreased production, and employee layoffs. These issues posed a threat to the national economy. The final effect was the company's bankruptcy as a result of its failure to survive a pandemic, which led to the company's downfall. This research aims to find out and analyze MSMEs' business strategy and innovation to maintain their business during the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia. This research is qualitative. Researchers got data using interviews, observation, and documentation. The analysis of this research is descriptive. To draw customers during the COVID-19 pandemic, MSMEs use social media or digital marketing, followed by the delivery of orders, promotions, or discounts and the creation of freebies. MSMEs develop new products as part of their ongoing efforts to expand their businesses while upholding standards for quality, value, and customer service. They also adapt to changing consumer tastes and popular food trends while showcasing some of their most intriguing products.

  • Purpose: This paper explores the nuanced approaches undertaken by private companies in formulating and implementing business continuity plans (BCPs) in response to the unprecedented challenges posed by the global COVID-19 pandemic. Research design, data, and methodology: Utilizing a mixed-methods research design, the study delves into the multifaceted strategies employed by private sector entities, ranging from risk assessment and remote work policies to supply chain diversification and employee well-being initiatives. Result: The findings contribute to a deeper understanding of the evolving landscape of business continuity planning during a pandemic, offering valuable insights for academia, industry practitioners, and policymakers. The research findings present a detailed account of how private companies have tailored their business continuity plans in response to the unique challenges posed by the pandemic. Conclusion: This academic exploration sheds light on the dynamic landscape of business continuity planning in private companies responding to the global pandemic. Insights into the effectiveness of remote work policies, supply chain diversification, employee safety measures, and financial strategies contribute to the understanding of best practices and areas requiring further attention. These recommendations aim to inform future business continuity planning efforts, enhance organizational resilience, and mitigate the impact of global health crises on private sector operations.

DHP를 이용한 부산신항 배후부지 물류업종 선정 (Deciding types of Logistics Business in the Hinterland of Busan's New Port using DHP)

  • Recently, the logistics companies are constructing distribution market for logistics service in hinterland which is convenient for management and activity of logistics. Since the expansion of hinterland has physical constraints and related to the adjacent cities, it is vital to select value added types of logistics in the business. This study determines the priority of logistics business types in the hinterland of Busan's new port using DHP, and also it suggests future types of logistics business by comparing result of study with the enterprises located in the hinterland. As a result, the inter-modal transport business has higher weight than the storage business. The distribution manufacturing business also has relatively high weight. Therefore, the inter-modal business and storage business need to keep a present status in hinterland, and the distribution manufacturing business should consolidate the role.

  • 비즈니스 프로세스 모델링은 고객의 요구사항을 만족하기 위해 기업들이 취하는 일련의 행위들을 그래픽적인 요소로 표현한 것이다. 오늘날 빠르고 다양한 형태로 고객의 요구사항이 변하게 됨으로써 비즈니스 프로세스 모델에서는 일어날 가능성이 있는 변화요소들을 표현하여 급변하는 요구사항에 대해 빠르게 대처할 수 있는 능력을 제공해야 한다. 본 논문에서는 비즈니스 프로세스 모델에 소프트웨어 프로덕트 라인 공학의 공통성과 가변성을 모델링 할 수 있는 비즈니스 프로세스 패밀리 모델을 제시하고 모델링 도구의 개발을 쉽게 접근할 수 있게 해주는 이클립스 플러그인 Graphical Modeling Framework(GMF)를 사용하여 비즈니스 프로세스 패밀리 모델링을 지원하는 도구를 설계하고 개발하는 과정을 보여준다 비즈니스 프로세스의 가변성은 UML2.0 활동도의 요소를 기반으로 표현된다.

Business Strategy and Overvaluation: Evidence from Korea

  • The purpose of this study is to test the effect of business strategy on valuation error. Business strategy includes managerial decision making and managerial tendency. In previous research, there is a negative relationship between business strategy and accounting quality. In this study, we try to confirm whether strategy tendencies affected valuation errors. In order to confirm empirically between business strategy and overvaluation, we use 8,117 firms that between 2006 and 2017 and listed in KSE and KOSDAQ. We calculated business strategy which is introduced by Bentley, Omer, and Sharp (2013). We also used the overvaluation method introduced in Rhodes-Kropf, Robinson, and Viswanathan (2005). The results show that the more the leading business strategy is, the greater the value error becomes. In the case of dividing into leading and defensive companies, the lead firms showed a significant positive correlation with the valuation errors, while the defensive firms showed the negative relationship with overvaluation. This study examined the business strategy and the overvaluation. we confirmed whether the management strategy deepens the evaluation error caused by the firm characteristics. The results are meaningful that we extended the study on the quality of financial reporting of leading strategic firms.

  • Purpose One of the success factors of information system projects is to reduce requirements uncertainty through user engagement. So, in many recent IS development environment, a business analyst or business analysts are positioned between users and developers to drive user engagement to reduce requirements uncertainty. But, there are few studies that research about the competencies of business analysts for training and staffing. So, this study analyzed which underlying and practical competencies that positively influence user engagement are required. Design/methodology/approach The level of underlying and practical competencies required for business analysts and the level of user enagement in the IS development environment are collected through the survey. And, the causal relationship between the construct concepts which are underlying competencies, practical competencies and the user participation is analzed through the PLS analysis. Findings The results of this study show that the practial competencies of business analysts that positively have a significant impact on user engaement were studied as requirements development skills. Additionally, the underlying competencies of business analysts which have a significant impact on requirements development skills were examined as business knowledge and interaction skills rather than technical knowledge and communication skills.

중소벤처기업 최고경영자의 기업가지향성이 혁신성과 및 경영성과에 미치는 영향 (The Effect on CEO Entrepreneurial Orientation on the Innovation and Business Performance in Small and Medium-Sized Venture-Enterprises)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of CEO's entrepreneurial orientation on innovation performance and business performance, and the mediating effect of innovation performance on the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation and business performance in small and medium-sized venture-enterprises (SMEs). To test the hypothesized relationships, we have conducted a survey of Korean SMEs. After excluding unanswered and untrustful item questionnaires, the final sample size for this study is 110 SMEs. The major findings of the empirical research are as follows. First, CEO's entrepreneurial orientation had apositive influence on innovation performance of a firm. Second, CEO's entrepreneurial orientation was positively related to business performance of a firm. Third, innovation performance had the partial mediating effect on the relationship between CEO's entrepreneurial orientation and business performance of a firm. That is, this result indicates that CEO's entrepreneurial orientation indirectly effects on business performance through innovation performance. Based on these findings, implications of the research findings are discussed, and recommendation for future research are provided.

  • The purpose of this study is to observe effect on a result of a business performance depending on the business scale and the success factors of quality. Verified hypothesis of the quality of success factors and business performance are conducted in order to conduct this research. The results of hypothesis testing can be summarized as follows : First, depending on the size of the company, quality of corporate success factors in the management and significant positive was verified to be in effect. Second, depending on the size of the small business companies' human resource management, product/process is significantly positive in effect and medium companies' quality information, quality of suppliers in the commercialization of technology is significantly positive in effect. Third, depending on the size of the small business companies' human resource management, product/process financial performance is significantly positive in effect and mid-sized companies, suppliers in the quality significantly positive show the influence of financial performance. The results of measurement through the size of the enterprise and the successful factors of quality impacts on business performance directly.

  • 본 논문은 기업간 전자상거래(Business to Business Electronic Commerce)의 비즈니스 모델의 분류체계를 새로이 고안하여 제안하고 있다. 인터넷과 정보통신기술의 발달은 기존의 기업간 거래 관계를 혁신시킬 기업간 전자상거래라는 새로운 패러다임을 등장하게 했다. 기업간 전자상거래는 새로이 발전해 가는 사업 영역으로서 학계와 업계의 많은 주목을 받고 있으나 아직 학문적으로는 연구가 미진하여 비즈니스 모델의 유형조차도 정립되어 있지 않아 향후 활발한 연구가 기대된다. 본 논문은 아직 초기 단계인 기업간 전자상거래 관련 일반문헌 및 연구문헌의 분석과 정리를 통해 종합적 관점의 비즈니스 모델 구성 체계를 제시하고 있다. 비즈니스 모델 구성도는 1) 거래 구조 및 운영 주체 2) 취급 품목 (산업 범위) 3) 거래 방식 4) 수익원의 4 가지 분류 기준으로 이루어져 종합적 관점에서 해당 비즈니스 모델을 평가하게 하며 '비즈니스 모델 하우스'라 칭하고 있다.

자동차 판매 비즈니스 모델 연구 (A Study on Online Business Model : The Case of Automotive Market)

  • The objective of this study is offering new on line business model for automotive market. In order for the research aim, we conduct direct in-depth interviews with CEO, including analysis of business patterns on eight automotive firms in Gwangju city. As a result, we suggest new business model so called, Online to offline (o2o) that combines advantages in both off-line and on-line business. Techniques that o2o automotive companies may employ include in-store pick up of items purchased online, allowing customers. Purchasing the automotive is not only a car but also services including insurance, warrant services. o2o business model suggested shows the operating of the goods and service sale. When it comes to characteristics of automotive conventional sale patterns, utilization of the online-to-offline commerce has not eliminated the advantages that e-commerce companies have. That model can enhance the new values for customers as well as new market creation. Also, this new business model (o2o) can contribute the emerging industry business model installed based in particular, emergence of Iot (Internet of thing) in terms of sharing knowledge and information between enterprise and customers.
