  • In this work, our goal is to develop a fast and accurate power model of the ARM926EJ-S processor in the industrial design environment. Compared with existing work on processor power modeling which focuses on the power states of processor core, our model mostly focuses on the cache power model. It gives more than 93% accuracy and 1600 times speedup compared with post-layout gate-level power estimation. We also address two practical issues in applying the processor power model to the real design environment. One is to incorporate the power model into an existing commercial instruction set simulator. The other is the re-characterization of power model parameters to cope with different gate-level netlists of the processor obtained from different design teams and different fabrication technology.

  • The research in the field of quality engineering has mainly focused on the manufactured products. The philosophy and concept of the existing quality engineering should be equally applicable in the coming e-Business era. However, there would be numerous new quality-related issues in the e-Business environment, due to the fundamental change in the business processes, which did not exist in the past. This paper first proposes a framework for quality engineering research suited for the e-Business environment, and then identifies major quality-related issues that should be resolved in the near future. It also evaluates the potential usefulness and limitations of the existing quality engineering tools in resolving such issues.

  • This study aims to identify the impact of the audit approach based on business risks (i.e., external environment risk, operations risk, information risk) in reducing unsystematic risks (i.e., operational risk, credit risk, liquidity risk, capital risk, and administrative risk) in Jordanian banks. To reduce the effect of unsystematic risks and, thus, improve banking performance, an audit approach based on business risks has emerged. To achieve the objectives, this study relied on descriptive statistics and the regression approach to study twenty-five Jordanian banks. The researcher used the intentional sampling method represented by employees of the accounting, financial and control departments in Jordanian banks. Seventeen banks contributed to the study, with a percentage of 68%, totaling 356 employees. A questionnaire was designed to obtain the data, and due to homogeneity among the sampling members, a purposive sample was drawn and 300 questionnaires were distributed. The results of the study found a statistically significant effect of the audit approach based on business risks with its combined dimensions on reducing unsystematic risks in Jordanian banks. The results of the study also found a statistically significant effect of the business risk-based audit approach with its combined dimensions on reducing operational risks in Jordanian banks.

  • Business model innovation creates differentiated value to customers by transforming various elements of doing business. Rather than focusing singularly on either the external or internal environment, the business model innovation aims to identify the optimal combination of internal resources, competence, and the external factors, such as customer's needs and new opportunity. However, due to lack of clear definition of business model innovation, and inability to generate company's core business model, business model innovation has been difficult for companies to lead next growth. This paper reviews existing definitions of business model innovation and explore existing types of business model innovation and timing of business model innovation through two case studies. Concept of business model innovation which we identify, is composed of value proposition, value creation through value chains and networks, and profit model innovation. Finally, we demonstrates that already successful businesses can also create new values through business model innovation and adaptive advantage, even in a rapidly changing market environment.

  • Recently several business models concerning e-Business has been introduced. But the different environment for each business requires the business model which is contingent to its specific situation. We, therefore, need to develop the e-Business models considering environment factors such as capital size, technology level, collection ability and amount of information, profit or target customers, etc. There can be several ways to create the value of an e-Business firm. A way among them is to develop limited area by focusing on core parts of the firm. This way leads for the firm to search the investment priority in order to solve the problem, which is to set a proper production and investment level for concentrating on competitively excellent areas of the firm. In this paper, we propose a method to decide the investment priority effectively when making a decision using fuzzy information. The method by our model is to minimize tolerances of given business fuzzy goals.

  • The purpose of this study is to assess the impact of the principal's democratic leadership style, teacher competency, work discipline, and work environment on teacher performance during the pandemic. Using the proportional random sampling strategy, a sample of 468 respondents consisted of kindergarten teachers, elementary school teachers, junior high school teachers, junior high school teachers, and high school/vocational school teachers. The study revealed that the principal's democratic leadership style, teacher competence, work discipline, and work environment substantially impact teacher performance. However, the principal's democratic leadership style does not affect teacher performance, whereas teacher competence, work discipline, and work environment have a minor impact on teacher performance. Furthermore, during the COVID-19 pandemic, work discipline is the most critical variable influencing teacher performance. The findings of this study suggest that the principal's democratic leadership style, teacher competence, work discipline, and work environment have a positive impact on teacher performance during the pandemic. During the COVID-19 pandemic, work discipline is the most important variable influencing teacher performance. Considering that democratic leadership has no effect on teacher performance and that this leadership style is widely used by school principals in the world of education, it is assumed that there is no effect on teacher performance.

  • This study examined the causal relationship between work environment and job satisfaction/turnover intention through statistical analyses using the statistics programs SPSS(18.0) and AMOS(18.0) of over 268 business owners operating small sized Chinese restaurants in the Busan and Gyeongnam area. Research results found that among the business owners of small sized Chinese restaurants, 130 were owner/chefs (48.5%), 63 engaged in hall serving (23.5%), and 75 were in delivery (28.0%). It was also found that while the physical environment had a positive effect on work pride and economic satisfaction, sale stress had no effect on work pride and economic satisfaction. In addition, the physical environment and mental labor environment showed a positive effect (+) on turnover intention, although job satisfaction (work pride, economic satisfaction) showed a negative effect (-) on turnover intention. Such result leads to the conclusion that for business owners of small sized Chinese restaurants, sale stress experienced during the course of business serves as a factor weakening job satisfaction while increasing turnover intention to a greater extent of the physical environment (kitchen facilities and hall facilities). Thus, it seems that practical business training, such as service training, is a greater necessity for business owners of small sized Chinese restaurants, as opposed to an improvement of restaurant facilities.
