Proposal of Bus-stop Information Design Guideline Based on User Experience Design -The Case of Seoul Metropolitan City- (사용자 경험 디자인을 기반으로 한 버스정류장 정보 디자인 가이드라인 제안 연구 -서울시를 중심으로-)

  • The aim of this study is to propose guidelines for bus-stop information design that is more congested with the advent of U-Shelter, via case studies and focus group interviews. First, the literature research explored the concept of information design and correlation of information design and route map. Second, raising problems and consider improvement plans through case study in korea, overseas. Finally, current information design was evaluated and user's requests were derived through focus group interview. The current information design had problems with lack of priority, information overlaying, and hard recognition. Priority shall be selected by bus route, direction of bus, arrival time, interval, and operating time, and information overlay can be reduced into one. Also visualize the connection and direction between the lines using schematic and two-dimensional lines and shapes for recognition. Through this study, it will be used as a reference material to help improve and develop the bus-stop information design.

  • This paper is a study on the self-powered wireless bus information and disaster information system based on Internet of Things (IoT). The existing bus information system supplies power and communication by cable, which causes a problem of increased installation cost and limited installation site due to cable burial. To solve this problem, a self-powered wireless bus information and disaster information system was proposed. The proposed system provides bus arrival information. Furthermore, in the event of a disaster such as a natural disaster, it can also reduce confusion and damage by notifying the disaster information through the system's speaker. In this study, a self-powered system using a solar module was proposed. As data are transmitted and received through wireless WiFi or LTE, the installation cost can be reduced and the problem of installation location restrictions can be solved.

  • Objective: The aim of this study is to suggest a package layout guideline for low-floor bus by interview with passengers and observations of their behavior. Background: Increasing attention has been introduced the low-floor bus to be more suitable for use by transportation handicapped. Complex issues are involved in providing comfortable services to all people. We are going to suggest package layout guidelines for more comfortable and suitable travel to all people. Method: The two times of survey and video observation sessions were conducted on low-floor buses in Seoul; (1) a finding of potential issues in the first session, (2) a confirming of issues from the last session. Results: The three of major issues were founded in this study; (1) difficulties in supporting body when standing, (2) difficulties in sitting on front wheel pan seat, (3) difficulties in passing through the aisle. Conclusion: There were clear differences between public and transportation handicapped in using some tools which are used for support body such as roof hand rails, side hand rails, and hand rail rings. Some of design problems were founded to improve from the perspective of ergonomics and universal design. Such differences and design guidelines have to be considered in bus design as well as commercial vehicle. Application: The proposed design guidelines can be used to development of low-floor bus and other public transportations.

  • This paper introduces a system that can help visually impaired people to board a bus using an embedded board with keypad, dot matrix, lidar sensor, NFC reader, a public data portal Open API system, and deep learning algorithm (YOLOv5). The user inputs the desired bus number through the NFC reader and keypad, and then obtains the location and expected arrival time information of the bus through the Open API real-time data through the voice output entered into the system. In addition, by displaying the bus number as the dot matrix, it can help the bus driver to wait for the visually impaired, and at the same time, a deep learning algorithm (YOLOv5) recognizes the bus number that stops in real time and detects the distance to the bus with a distance detection sensor such as lidar sensor.

ACE-BIS: A Cost-Effective Bus Information System (ACE-BIS: 최적의 버스 노선을 선택하기 위한 비용 효율적인 알고리즘의 개발)

  • Due to the rapid development in mobile communication technologies, the usage of mobile devices such as cellular phones and PDAs becomes increasingly popular. One of the best ways to maximize the usability of mobile devices is to make them aware of their current locations and the locations of other fixed and mobile objects. In this paper, we propose a cost-effective Bus Information System, ACE-BIS, which utilizes a mobile device to retrieve the bus routes to reach a destination from the current location. To accomplish this task, ACE-BIS maintains a small amount of information on bus stops and bus routes in a mobile device and runs a heuristic routing algorithm based on such information. When a user asks more accurate route information or calls for a 'leave later query', ACE-BIS entrusts the task to a server into which real-time traffic and bus location information is being collected. By separating the roles into a mobile device and a server, ACE-BIS is able to provide bus routes at the lowest cost for wireless communications, without imposing much burden to a server. The results of extensive experiments revealed that ACE-BIS is effective and scalable in most experimental settings.

Low-Power Bus Driven Floorplan for Segmented Bus Design (버스 분할 설계를 위한 저전력 버스 기반 평면계획)

  • In this paper we present the Low-Power Bus Driven Floorplan(BDF) in which the bus power consumption is minimized by using a new cost function. The previously reported BDF has used the cost function which minimizes only the chid and the bus area. However, such a cost function may not consider the bus power consumption determined by the topology of a bus in case of the segmented bus design. In this paper, we formulate a new cost function which. reflects the communication frequency and the real distance between blocks in a bus to model the bus power consumption. For the Low-Power BDF with the new cost function, the experimental results show the bus power consumption cost is reduced by 11.43% on the average.

  • The general bus system architecture consists of masters, slaves, arbiter, decoder and so on in shared bus. As several masters can't use a bus concurrently, arbiter plays an role in bus arbitration. In compliance with the selection of arbitration method, The efficiency of bus usage can be determined. Fixed Priority, Round-Robin, TDMA, Lottery arbitration are studied in conventional arbitration method. Conventional arbitration method is considered bus priority primarily, actual bus utilization didn't considered. In this paper, we propose arbitration method using bus utilization operating block of each master, we verify the performance compared with the other arbitration methods through throughput performance. From the result of performance verification, we confirm that proposed arbitration method, matched bus utilization set by the user 40%, 20%, 20%, 20%.

  • In this paper, we design and implement a bus information notification application based on the GPS sensor of a smartphone. This application provides the ability to check bus stops within a radius of 200m based on the current user's location using the smartphone's GPS sensor, Google Map, and open API. In addition, if you click the marker of the desired stop, you can see the name of the stop, and click the view arrival information button to check the detailed bus arrival information of the stop. In addition, it provides a function to check the location information of pharmacies, nonghyups, and post offices that sell public masks, the names of public mask stores, and mask inventory through the public mask store button. Each icon was used differently to make visual differences in order to easily indicate the difference between the times of public mask sales and bus stops. In addition, if you want to know the information of other bus stops and the route of the desired bus, not around the user's location, click the bus stop search button. Finally, after storing the destination stop or location, it implements a function that provides an alarm when it approaches the location.

  • In this paper, we designed ECC(Elliptic Curve Cryptographic) Processor with Bus-splitting mothod for embedded SoC. ECC SIP is designed by VHDL RTL modeling, and implemented reusably through the procedure of logic synthesis, simulation and FPGA verification. To communicate with ARM9 core and SIP, we designed SIP bus functional model according to AMBA AHB specification. The design of ECC Processor for platform-based SoC is implemented using the design kit which is composed of many devices such as ARM9 RISC core, memory, UART, interrupt controller, FPGA and so on. We performed software design on the ARM9 core for SIP and peripherals control, memory address mapping and so on.
