  • After adhering theone-sided non-woven adhesive interlining to the polyester/cotton fabrics and making experiments under the various conditions by L27 Orthogonal Array Table, we examined and analyzed the breaking away strength. The rusults are summarized as follows : 1. The best length of the adhering time is 15 secs. 2. As the adehesive interlining for blouse and jacket, B3 is best 3. The pressure for the adhesion is best under the pressure of 6.2Kg. 4. The temperature for the adhesion is best at 140$^{\circ}C$. 5. As for the direction of the adhesion, three directions appear much the same breaking away strength. 6. For the better adhesion power, if the less adhering power, if the less adhering pressure is applied, the adhering time must be extended(15-20 secs), and if much stronger adhering pressure is applied, the time must be shortened(10-15 secs). In general, it is the best way for the adhesion to apply under the pressure of 6.2Kg, for 15 secs long, and at 140$^{\circ}C$ of the adhering temperature.

  • This paper proposes printed organic one-time programmable read-only memory (PROM). The organic PROM cell consists of a capacitor and an organic p-type metal-oxide semiconductor (PMOS) transistor. Initially, all organic PROM cells with unbroken capacitors store "0." Some organic PROM cells are programmed to "1" by electrically breaking each capacitor with a high voltage. After the capacitor breaking, the current flowing through the PROM cell significantly increases. The memory data is read out by sensing the current in the PROM cell. 16-bit organic PROM cell arrays are fabricated with the printed organic PMOS transistor and capacitor process. The organic PROM cells are programmed with -50 V, and they are read out with -20 V. The area of the 16-bit organic PROM array is 70.6 $mm^2$.

  • Most fibers are irregular, and they are often subjected to combined loading conditions during processing and enduse. In this paper polyester and wool fibers under the combined tensile and torsional loads have been studied for the first time using the finite element method (FEM). The dimensional irregularities of these fibers are simulated with sine waves of different magnitude and frequency. The breaking load and breaking extension of the fibers at different twist or torsion levels are then calculated from the finite element model. The results indicate that twist and level of fiber irregularity have a major impact on the mechanical properties of the fiber and the effect of the frequency of irregularity is relatively small.

  • Ketoprofen has been used as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAI) agent for analgesia in surgical patients and increasing numbers of surgical patients are chronically take some forms of NSAI drugs. The purpose of this study was to investigate the therapeutic effects of ketoprofen on the healing of a closed linear surgical wound and on the contraction of an opened surgical wound in rats. The experimental groups were divided into two groups and ten rats were allocated in each group. In ketoprofen-treated group, the rats were given 2.5 mg/mg/day of ketoprofen by s.c. for ten days. In control group, the rats were given 1ml of benzyl alcohol and distilled water by s.c. for ten days. After time period, all rats were sacrificed, and the breaking strength and the collagen concentrations, at the wound site, were measured. In ketoprofen-treated group, the mean breaking strength and the mean collagen concentration were significantly decreased when compared with those of controls. The ketoprofen-treated group had shown a mean rate of wound contraction less than that of the control, although not statistically significant. These results suggested that ketoprofen impaired wound healing.

  • In recent years, Vacuum Circuit Breaker(VCB) has been widely used to enhance the confidence and at the same time to ease maintenance of waterworks requipment as the power supply breaker of high voltage motor. When making and breaking the sources as VCB the powerful surge voltage, repetitive reignition phenomenon resulted from exceeding inter-pole endurance voltage of CB, has occured. It has transmitted to the winding of motor stator through the cable, and this surge voltage is repeated over and over again before finishing making and breaking action of CB according to cumulation of repetitive reignition surge, motor has become burned in the end. This paper describes surge voltage occuring in making and breaking of VCB as circuit parameters by transient phenonenon and examines closely the variance of peak values, wavefront-length, wavetail-length, when changing inductance and capacitance of a cable. Finally we will expect to protect motor winding breakdown from surge voltage through parallel connection of suitable-size in the motor.

  • In this research TPS (Train Performance Simulation) blocks are designed using Simulink and applied to generate speed profiles for energy-efficient train operation. With a train operation mode of maximum powering, coasting, and maximum breaking, a breaking point is calculated from forward-backward running profiles. Then, GA (Genetic Algorithm) is used to solve a running time constraint, and a coasting point is produced from the searching process of GA. With the breaking point and the coasting point a speed profile is plotted. Train performance under a speed limit and gradient variations is simulated and resultant speed profiles are analyzed.

  • In this paper two-dimensional breaking waves of plunger type are numerically simulated both on an even bottom and on a sinusoidally-varying bottom within the framework of potential theory. Based on the boundary integral method derived by Vinje and Brevig, fluid particles on the free surface are treated exactly by using semi-Lagrangian time-stepping. Numerical instability, in particular when the wave front becomes vertical, is discussed and the regriding method of nodal points has been found promising. Numerical accuracy is examined in terms of the wave energy and mass conservations. It is also found that the bottom topography affects significantly and the hydrostatic pressure contributes considerably to the nonoscillating force acting on the bottom, when waves are breaking.

  • In order to develop a gas circuit breaker (GCB), the breaking performance of the short line fault (SLF) should be prioritized over that of the breaker terminal fault (BTF). In brief, it is necessary to evaluate the thermal characteristics of the insulating gas that is filled in a GCB. In the process of developing a GCB, many companies use the simplified synthetic testing facility (SSTF).In order to evaluate the SLF breaking performance of a GCB with a long minimum arcing time, a modifications to the conventional SSTF was proposed. In this study, we developed the SSTF with a modified transient recovery voltage circuit. The performance of the newly developed SSTF was verified by an $L_{90}$ breaking performance test on a rating combination of 170 kV, 50 kA, and 60 Hz.

  • In this study, an approximate method for calculating the directional spectrum of waves encountering a current in shallow water is developed. The wave trains in tile directional spectrum are assumed to be linear and Gaussian; development of the spectrum requires that the waves also be short crested. The Miche's breaking criterion is imposed to determine the upper limit of wave height and to establish an expression for the breaking wave elevation in terms of the ideal wave's elevation and the second time derivative of wave elevation. Two examples are given; one for a Wallops directional spectrum encountering a shear current and another with an upwelling current.
