Characteristics and Predictions of the Cavitation Inception in a Turbopump Inducer (터보펌프 인듀서에서 캐비테이션 시작점의 특성 및 예측에 관한 연구)

  • The cavitation of a turbopump inducer develops from the inception to a critical point, and encounters breakdown finally. In this study, we evaluated the characteristics and predictions of cavitation inception for the turbopump inducer using empirical equations. The empirical equation for the elliptical plate predicted the generation of cavitation inception of the turbopump inducer relatively well. However, in case of the marine propeller, it showed a considerable difference owing to the Reynolds number of the operating point. The cavitation inception occurred earlier as the number of blades increased. However, the solidity had no major impact on the cavitation inception because the cavitation occurred locally at the tip of the leading edge.

  • In this paper, aging characteristics of outdoor silicone rubber insulator resulting from the acid rain have been investigated with regards to nitrate ion $({NO_{3}}^{-1})$. For this purpose, silicone rubber was aged by immersing into the nitric solutions with different level pH during 1500 hours and various tests (tracking, $tan{\delta}$, breakdown voltage, SEM, EDS, contact angle) were performed. It was observed that the degradation was increased to pH 2.5 slightly and at pH 1.5 highly. And thus, it could be expected that there is certain critical point between pH 1.5 and 2.5, which leads to throught degradation.

  • The present study was carried out to investigate the mechanism which control the voltage instability and the breakdown of CVD Al2O3 on Si substrates. Our sample were metal-Al2O3-Oi Capacitors with both Al and Au field plates. Electron injection and trapping, with resultant positive flatband voltage shift, occur at fields as low as 1-2[MV/cm.] We developed an approximate method for computing the location of the centroid of the trapped electrons. Our results indicate that the electrons are trapped near the injecting interface, at least for fields less than about 5[MV/cm ] Because of continued charging, a true steady state is probably never reached, and the only unique I-V curve is the one obtained initially, when the traps are empty. We measured this I-V curve for both polarities of applied voltage, using a fresh sample for each point. The observed current densities are much larger than those obtained in thermally grawn SiO2.

  • For the problem of testing the parallelism of two regression lines, a robust procedure is proposed and examined. The proposed test statistic is based on the one-step GM-estimators of slope parameters proposed by Song et al. (1994b). These GM-estimators used the Least Trimmed Squares estimates as an initial values so as to obtain high breakdown point. Through a small-sample Monte Carlo simulation the empirical levels and powers of the proposed test are compared with other tests under various error distributions.

  • Several robust censored depth regression methods are compared under contamination. Park and Hwang(2003) suggested a way to circumvent the censoring issue by incorporating Kaplan-Meier type weight in halfspace regression depth and Park(2003) used a similar technique to simplicial regression depth. Hubert et al. (2001) suggested a high breakdown point regression depth based on projection called rcent. A new method to implement censoring in rcent is suggested and compared with two precedents under various contamination and censoring schemes.

  • This paper describes switching surge analysis for reclosing decision in 345kV combined transmission line with GIL. Reclosing operation should be decided based on the detailed technical analysis in combined transmission line because this line includes power cable section which is week on insulation. Insulation of power cable can be breakdown at the week point in case of reclosing moment. Therefore the detailed analysis has to be carried out by considering several conditions such as charging rate, inserting resistance, arrester, length ratio of power cable section, grounding resistance, etc. Analysis is performed by EMTP/ATP.

  • In a wide variety of high-voltage applications surface flashover plays major role in the system's performance and yet has not been studied in great detail for vacuum conditions with modern diagnostic tools. surface flashover for both direct current and pulsed voltages in considered. within the setup, parameters such as geometry, material characteristics of the applied voltage can be altered. This paper review surface flashover of insulator, primarily in vacuum. It discusses theories and models relating to surface flashover and experimental results. surface flashover of insulators in vacuum generally is initiated by the emission of electrons from the cathode triple junction point (the region where the electrode, insulator, vacuum). the electrode material was copper, and a AC voltage was applied between the electrodes. these results were compared with the surface flashover characteristic of insulator at results, surface flashover influenced only insulator surface condition. and increasing vacuum pressure was risen breakdown voltage.

  • This paper presents the experimental results of underwater discharges in 25 mm point-plane gap caused by impulse voltage. Discharge phenomena were observed by digital cameras and recorded by oscilloscope. As a result, discharge patterns in positive and negative polarity have different shapes according to applied voltage amplitudes. The positive discharge is like root but the negative discharge is similar to bush. As the voltage is increased, the discharge routs are thick and have more branches. Also the time to breakdown is inversely proportional to voltage.

  • In order to improve insulating character and ability of insulating system of power apparatus, the interfacial and complex structure is widely used. However, the interface or complex structure of insulation materials is reported as a weak point which causes breakdown. As the interface of insulation system degrades its electrical property and eventually causes a failure, the datailed phenomenon analysis is reported. The object of this paper is to evaluate dielectric property of PET film with the interface. The $tan{\delta}$ increased with the existence of semiconducting layer and showed prominent decrease as a function of temperature. Also, the $tan{\delta}$ showed prominent increase as a function of frequency. The dielectric properties of interfacial were affected by the interface characteristics.
