  • In this paper, we derive the Partial Differential Bond Price Equation (PDBPE) by using Ito's Lemma to determine the pricing of bond on term-structure of interest rate (TSIR) model with jump. From PDBPE, the Maclaurin series (MS) and the moment-generating function (MGF) for the exponential function are used to obtain a numerical solution (NS) of the bond prices. And an algorithm for determining bond prices using Monte Carlo Simulation (MCS) techniques is proposed, and the pricing of bond is determined through the simulation process. Comparing the results of the implementation of the above two pricing methods, the relative error (RE) is obtained, which means the ratio of NS and MCS. From the results, we can confirm that the RE is less than around 2.2%, which means that the pricing of bond can be predicted very accurately using the proposed algorithms as well as numerical analysis. Moreover, it was confirmed that the bond price obtained using the MS has a relatively smaller error than the pricing of bond obtained by using the MGF.

  • This paper analyzed seventy eight previous test results to evaluate bond strength of Near Surface-Mounted (NSM) FRP and prediction formulas previously proposed by researchers. The results showed that the most reliable bond strength prediction was the one proposed by Seracino, who considered the shape coefficient (ratio of width-thickness) and stiffness of FRP. However, the equation tended to underestimate the bond strength, especially serious when FRP bond length was relatively short, because the equation did not consider the effect of bond length. Based on the analysis of previous test results, the relation between bond length and bond strength and the group effect due to close proximity of FRPs were determined. Based on the findings, the Seracino's formula was modified and it's applicability was evaluated. The result showed that the suggested formula can be used effectively to predict the bond strength of NSM FRP.

  • The solvolysis of (1s)-(+)-menthyl chloroformate (1) were studied kinetically in 28 pure and various mixed solvents. The analysis using the extended Grunwald-Winstein equation in the solvolysis of 1 obtained the l value of 2.46 ± 0.18, the m value of 0.91 ± 0.07, and the correlation coefficient of 0.950. The solvolysis of 1 might proceed via an associative SN2 mechanism enhancing bond making than bond breaking in the transition state (TS). The value of l/m is 2.7 within the ranges of value found in associative SN2 reaction. This interpretation is further supported by a relatively large solvent kinetic isotope effect (SKIE, 2.16).

  • The objective of this study is to clarify analytically the pullout behavior of axial bars from a footing. The bond stress-slip model obtained from the results by the finite element method as well as the pullout tests in massive concrete was used in order to evaluate the slip of bars from the footing. Also, the process of bond mechanism was taken into consideration on order to express the deterioration of bond stress along bars, The shape and magnitude of bond stress distribution depends upon each loading steps. Using equilibrium equation of axial force, $\tau$-S relationship and $\sigma$s-$\varepsilon$s relationship, the differential equations of each loading steps are derived. Applying both boundary and equilibrium conditions to the equations, the amount of slip could be determined. Calculated values on the basis of proposed method evaluation of the slip of bars have a good agreement with the experimental results.

  • In this study, the solvolysis of cyclohexanesulfonyl chloride (1) was studied by kinetics in ethanol-water, methanol-water, acetone-water, and 2,2,2-trifluoroethanol (TFE)-water binary solvent systems. The rate constants were applied to the extended Grunwald-Winstein equation, to obtain the values of m = 0.41 and l = 0.81. These values suggested $S_N2$ mechanism in which bond formation is more important than bond breaking in the transition state (TS). Relatively small activation enthalpy values (11.6 to $14.8kcal{\cdot}mol^{-1}$), the large negative activation entropy values (-29.7 to $-38.7cal{\cdot}mol^{-1}{\cdot}K^{-1}$) and the solvent kinetic isotope effects (SKIE, 2.29, 2.30), the solvolyses of the cyclohexanesulfonyl chloride (1) proceeds via the $S_N2$ mechanism.

  • The solvolyses of anthraquinone-2-carbonyl chloride (1) were studied kinetically in 27 pure and various mixed solvents. The analysis using the extended Grunwald-Winstein equation in the solvolyses of anthraquinone-2-carbonyl chloride (1) obtained the l value of $2.11{\pm}0.11$, the m value of $0.54{\pm}0.06$, and the correlation coefficient of 0.955. The solvolysis reaction of 1 might proceed via an associative $S_N2$ mechanism enhancing bond making than bond breaking in the transition state (TS). This interpretation is further supported by a relatively large solvent kinetic isotope effect (SKIE, 2.27).

  • The purpose of this work is to establish the basic calibration data for the efficiency of grinding by investigating the Bond's Work Index employing Korean Kaolin as a reference mateial with the laboratory-scale ball mill. A small ordinary ball mill has a dimension of 133 inside diameter and 144mm long. The analysis of the experimental results in this work sets up a equivalent calibration method with the laboratory-scale ball mill to those with special mill. The theoretical expression, derived from the rate equation proposed by Miwa, is obtained to anticipitate the stable revolution number for the next grinding cycle. The proposed equation is more systematic and acurate than lshihara's empirical equation is more systematic and acurate than lshihara's empirical equation for the measurement of gindability of a ball mill.

  • In this experimental study, bond splitting strength and behavior were evaluated through pull-out tests. The tests were conducted on a GFRP rebar with roughened surface which was produced by Canadian manufacturer. The used variables in this study were rebar diameter, cover depth and compressive strength of concrete. For each variable, five specimens were made and tested to obtain good results. The bond splitting behavior was investigated from the relationship of pull-out force and slip. The experimental bond splitting strength was compared with the predicted strength obtained from the equations presented by some researchers. The results of the comparison demonstrated that the strength could be predicted well by using the Harajli et al's equation.

  • To treat and recycle a large quantity of converter slag. the milling properties of -14/ +24 mesh-sized slag has been considered. The optimal conditions in milling process were investigated for producing powder-type slag and the required consumption was derived for the economical grinding. The characteristics of milling processes were studied in the variation of the rotational speed, milling time, filling ratio of ball, and size and amount of feed. The grinding efficiency was also examined. The optimal rotational speed in this experimental condition was observed to be the value of 79% of critical speed. The extent of grinding was increased with increasing the grinding time. but the efficiency of milling was decreased with the time. 50% ball filling was shown to have the optimal grinding effect, and less amount and small-sized feed made the milling efficiency high. As the result, using Bond's equation, power required for efficient milling was considered and the highest value was observed in the condition of high grinding time and optimal rotational speed.

  • Recently, experimental and analytical researches have been performed in order to find interface failure between FRP plate and concrete in near surface-mounted (NSM) retrofit using FRP plate. As a result, it was found that the bond strength between concrete and NSM FRP plate had a close relationship with shape of FRP, concrete compressive strength and bond length. However, research need is increasing about another factors such as suitable space of FRP plate and group effect. In this study, therefore, a bond test was performed with aforementioned factors and compared with a previous equation to verify its suitability for predicting bond strength of NSM FRP plate. From the test, it was found that the bond strength increased according to the increase of space of NSM FRP plates even if its bond length was same. The splitting failure of concrete governed when space of FRPs was too narrow and it changed to FRP's tensile failure with increase of the space. From the evaluation of test specimens using previous equation, it was found that the bond strength could be predicted properly with consideration of group effect.
