Objectives: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of stimulating Twelve Meridional Dermomeres though moving cupping therapy on obesity Methods: We stimulated abdomen and upper arms in equational strength by using cups for 30minutes a week. It was totally ten times from April 2011 to June 2011. We checked body composition, body measuring and serum lipid test before procedure and after 1st, 4th, 7th and 10th procedure. Results: Body composition and abdomen and upper arms measuring were significantly decreased compared before procedure with after. TG in serum lipid test was significantly decreased but TC, LDL-c and HDL-c in serum lipid test were not significantly decreased. Conclusions: Body composition and body measuring weren't decreased a wide variation, but it was a significant decrease. So it is effective on obesity stimulating Twelve Meridional Dermomeres though moving cupping therapy.
The aim of this thesis is to examine the effect of the diuretics in the Sasang constitutional medicine those are not categorized to the diuretic in the established herbal medicine by the way of measuring the change of body edema and the quantity of body moisture through the inbody test, along with the urine volume taken for 24 hours 1. We medicated the diuretic suggested by the DongyiSuseBowon東醫壽世保元 into the tested group and measured the change of the urine volume, the quantity of body moisture and the degree of body edema. The results are the followings below. 1) Soeumin The change in the urine volume and body moisture showed no responsibility, but the degree of body edema decreased with the responsibility. 2) Soyangin All of the degree of body edema and the urine volume, and body moisture showed decrease. 3) Taeumin The urine volume and body moisture increased but showed no responsibility. Also the degree of body edema decreased within the normal limit which can not be accepted. 4) The medicine of the Sasang Constitutional Medicine can not be simply thought to be the diuretic, but it has the function that excretes the moisture which functions negatively in the body and causes edema, as well as the function of the adjustment of metabolism that preserves the normal amount of moisture. This is the good example which is the concept of the adjustment therapy suggested by The Sasang Constitutional Medicine 2. Through the results above, we can find that the diuretic suggested by The Sasang Constitutional Medicine functions in the way that is differently explained by the herbal medicine.
The main object of this study was to understand the body image and body management behavior associated with desiring a thinner and more muscular body. The present study examined whether the drives for thinness and muscularity occur concurrently for both male and female college students, and whether there are gender differences. Moreover, the effects of objectified body consciousness on drive for thinness and drive for muscularity were investigated. A self-administered survey was conducted and a total of 390 data were used for data analysis. Participants included 197 male college students and 193 female students. Results indicated that male students reported significantly lower drive for thinness and higher drive for muscularity than female students. However, the drives for thinness and muscularity were significantly correlated for both male and female college students, and they reported discrepancies between their BMI and self-perceived weight and muscle mass. Findings supported the significant effects of objected body consciousness on the drives for thinness and muscularity for both male and females. Sub-dimensions of objectified body consciousness had differential effects on drive for thinness and muscularity. Specifically, body surveillance and body shame significantly influenced male and female students' drive for thinness, while their control belief did not have significant effects on their drive for thinness. Additionally, body shame emerged as significant unique predictor of drive for muscularity. In terms of gender comparisons, while the effect of body shame was the strongest for the males, the effect of surveillance was as strong as that of body shame for the females.

Even though modem ideal body type is rather tall and slim one, most of women don't coincide with it exactly. The objective of this research was to study the optical illusion effect of clothing design line so that average Korean women can approach the modern ideal body type. This research also tried to show the more scientific method to make stimulus by computer simulation and to present quantitative data. For the experiment, 9 design variables were selected from design principal book as follows : waistline level, skirt length, horizontal line emphasis, vertical line emphasis. princess line, vertical stripe, horizontal stripe, diagonal stripe. Each variable was divided into 4 levels so that 36 experimental designs were made. Visual stimuli which same model was wearing each design were recreated by the CAD system. These were given to evaluating panels through slide projecter. Then panels compared experimental design with basic design by 'tall effect' and 'slim effect', All the data from the experiment were analyszed by ANOVA and DUNCAN test for multiple comparison to study significance, direction(positive or negative), degree, proper extent of optical illusion effect. The result showed that some designs have optical illusion effect to make better look. In addition, it proved that the stronger design variable does not mean the more optical illusion effect and there was proper extent which produce the best illusion effect in each design variable.
Objective : It is known that Pueriaria lobata has an anti-osteoporetic effect, anti-cancer effect, anti-pyretic effect, and anti-diabetic effect. The aim of this study was to evaluate anti-obesity effect of Pueriaria lobata extract (PLE), and elucidate the effect of it on gene expression related to lipid metabolism. Method : The experiments were performed with the use of ovariectomized rats as estrogen-deficient obesity model. They were grouped NC (normal control), OC (estrogen-deficient control), PLH (100mg/kg of PLE), PLL (20mg/kg). PLE was orally administered for 6 weeks. Body weights and serum lipid level were estimated, and real-time PCR was performed to investigate the effect of PLE on gene expression in liver. Results : PLE decreased the body weight and serum cholesterol and triglyceride, but increased HDL-cholesterol. And PLE increased leptin, CYP27, CPT1, CYP8B1, ACAT2, LDLR, and SCD1, but reduced $PPAR{\gamma}$, PGC1A, HMG-CoA-R, ACAT1, SCD1, and APoB gene expression in liver tissue of rat with estrogen-deficient obesity. Conclusion : It is concluded that Pueriaria lobata reduced body weight, and its effect was expressed by regulation of gene expression related to lipid metabolism in rats with estrogen-deficient obesity.
A girdle is a body-shaping article of clothing. The garment pressure of the girdle is considered an indispensable factor. The purpose of this study was to identify changes in body size and distribution of garment pressure after donning the girdle. The changes of body size and garment pressure were analyzed by body types. Korean women (n=19) in their 20s participated in the experiment. Their body types were classified according to four factors: the index value(hip girth-waist girth), and waist, hip, and thigh girths. The garment pressure was measured at 12 points. The results of this study showed that the hip and thigh girths were reduced mostly after donning the girdle. These values were 2.0~2.8cm and 1.7~2.3cm, respectively. The garment pressure was high at the waist band, the hip joint, and the gluteal furrow region at the back. The subjects whose waists, thighs, or hips were well developed showed great garment pressure in the hip area, but their hip girth decreased very little. The subjects with less developed or slim thighs or hips showed a slimming effect, with moderate pressure in the hip and thigh regions. These results show that the hip and thigh can be slimmed with moderate pressure by donning a thigh-length girdle. High garment pressure is not necessary for the girdle's body shaping effect. The hip area is hard to get body slimming effect with high garment pressure. The current girdle sizing system needs to be revised in order to lower garment pressure in the hip region. The researchers suggest using 3cm size intervals rather than 6cm size intervals for hip girth.
We studied the effect of vibratory stimulations of different leg muscles, tibialis anterior(TA) and triceps surae(TS), and plantar zones in ten healthy subjects during 1) quiet standing, 2) forward lean of body, 3) backward lean of body, 4) right lean of body, and 5) left lean of body. The experiments were performed on the force platform. The effect of vibration were measured by monitoring the area of COP(Center of pressure) sway. The subjects wore a vibratory stimulation system on foot and ankles and were given the instruction not to resist against the applied perturbations. The results show that all vibratory stimulations to lower limb muscles and plantar zones reduced the COP sway area. This reduction of the COP sway area occurred also in partial vibratory stimulations during quiet standing. In forward lean of body, vibratory stimulations to TA reduced the COP sway area. During backward lean of body, vibratory stimulations to TS reduced the COP sway area. When the subject was tilted right, vibratory stimulations to left plantar zone reduced the COP sway area. During left lean of body, vibratory stimulations to right plantar zone reduced the COP sway area. Thus, the influence of vibratory stimulations to leg muscle and plantar zones differed significantly depending on the lean of body. We suggest that the vibration stimuli from leg muscles and plantar zones could be selectively used to help maintaining postural balance stable.

This study investigated the effect of whole-body vibration on muscle function and muscular reaction in the knee joint. We recruited thirty healthy subjects and divided them into a training group, who experienced whole-body vibration, and a control group, who did not. The training group performed whole-body vibration exercises for 30 min per day, 3 days a week, for 8 weeks. We measured knee joint torque to estimate muscle strength and reaction, using BIODEX System 3. Knee joint peak torque and total work performed increased significantly in the training group, and muscle acceleration time decreased. These results suggest that stimulation by whole-body vibration can improve muscle strength and reaction by improving muscle tone and increasing blood temperature and flow speed in muscular fiber. Our results also indicate that 4 weeks of exercise with whole-body vibration is required to improve the reaction response, and six weeks to improve strength.
Purpose: This study was an quasi-experimental study to compare the effect of applying polyethylene wrap and aircap in maintaining body temperature of preterm infants. Methods: The participants were 51 preterm infants. Aircap was applied to the experimental group (n=23) and polyethylene wrap was applied to the control group (n=28) when the preterm infants admitted to neonatal intensive care unit. The data was collected at W hospital in J-province from June 2016 to May 2017. A total of 9 body temperature measurements were taken at 3 hours interval from 5 min to 24 hours after admission. Repeated measure ANOVA, independent t-test and χ2 test were conducted used with SPSS/WIN 24.0 Results: There were no significant difference in the homogeneity tests for general characteristics and dependent variables prior to the experiments (t=0.57, p=.566). There was a significant difference on body temperature of preterm infants over time (F=3.24, p=.020). There was no significant difference on body temperature between polyethylene wrap and aircap application groups (F=1.29, p=.261). The interaction between the group and the time was insignificant (F=1.51, p=.214). Conclusion: The findings demonstrated that both methods of applying polyethylene wrap and aircap on the body in preterm infants had effect in maintaining body temperature.

Purpose: This study aims to investigate the mediating effect of grit in the relationship between body image and health promotion lifestyle for nursing students. It was implemented to present basic data for the development of educational programs to establish the health promotion lifestyle of nursing students. Methods: The participants of this study were 169 nursing students in three universities in G City, J Province. Data were descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation analysis. Also mediation analysis was performed according to the Baron and Kenny method and Sobel test. Results: Health promotion lifestyle is positively correlated with body image(r=.53, p<.001), grit (r=.37, p<.001), and body image is positively correlated with grit(r=.33, p<.001). The grit showed a partial mediating effect between the body image and the health promotion lifestyle(Z=3.21, p<.001), the positive the body image(β=.46, p<.001), the higher the grit(β=.22, p<.001), the healthier the health. The level of health promotion lifestyle increased, and the explanatory power to explain the health promotion lifestyle was 33%. Conclusion: Therefore, in order to improve the health promoting lifestyle level of nursing students, it is important to change their perception so that they can view their body image positively. In addition, it suggests that nursing students need to cultivate grit so that they can continuously pay attention to and strive for their health promotion lifestyle.
