  • In spite of its simple rule, Go is one of the most complex strategic board games in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Monte-Carlo Tree Search (MCTS) is an algorithm with best-first tree search, and has used to implement computer Go. We try to find the most promising first move using MCTS for playing a Go game on a board of size smaller than $9{\times}9$ Go board. The experimental result reveals that MCTS prefers to place the first move at the center in case of odd-sized Go boards, and at the central in case of even-sized Go boards.

  • Board games have many game characters and many state spaces. Therefore, games must be long learning. This paper used reinforcement learning algorithm. But, there is weakness with reinforcement learning. At the beginning of learning, reinforcement learning has the drawback of slow learning speed. Therefore, we tried to improve the learning speed by using the heuristic using the knowledge of the problem domain considering the game tree when there is the same best value during learning. In order to compare the existing character the improved one. I produced a board game. So I compete with one-sided attacking character. Improved character attacked the opponent's one considering the game tree. As a result of experiment, improved character's capability was improved on learning speed.

  • Since October 2006, number of deliberations of arcade game in Game Rating Board (GRB) annually was more than 1,000 cases except 2007 and 2010. However, these cases excessively handle to deliberate the game rating. Especially, the rating is manually performed thus, hindering the consistency and objectivity of the deliberation. To resolve this problems, we think that the automation of technical deliberation is necessary for arcade game which is needed to have much time for deliberation. The purpose of this study is to identify what the possibility part of automation or what obviously part of automation in the deliberation of game rating. To achieve our research purposes, we conducted in-depth interview with GLI standardization expert in BMM Korea and person in charge for deliberation in game rating board. The interview results show that 12 standardization and 14 automation factors for deliberation in game rating of arcade game. This study will expect bases in game development and promotion in game industry.

  • The computer game industry has been developed gradually because of development of graphics and communication industry, Games have an important role to peoples in various ages in their leisure life. Game has been changed into various forms with its development. With this movement, it is not only for simple amusement, but starts trying to use them for educational object. It is called Serious Game that intends to particular object and effect. Serious game has the important meaning to get some new useful things through its enjoyment which is the essence of games. Many people in various field have tried many categories of contents. Especially, education stands out among the other fields. Fields related with education have been studied extensively. This paper would suggest mathematics education game based on Augmented Reality. It is a board game for infants and young students. Augmented Reality is used to extend user's experience and multiplicity of the game. We also offer users a tool that helps them to create their own board for their active game participation.

  • In this paper, we have developed the balance board with electronic devices to use in various fields of remedial and physical balance exercise with interesting game and the functional game. Rehabilitation training using a funny game will be effective for patient's rehabilitation training. A Personal training system uses a balance board with an acceleration sensor and the game controlled by physical balance. To evaluate the operation of the developed system, we developed rehabilitation training game. The proposed game can be applicable to rehabilitation and balance training, and suggested game interface method could use a commercial game with various function through our emulator.

  • This study deals with the changes in negative emotions a player feels upon defeat according to the intensity of randomness. By changing the interface related to randomness, we checked how the interaction between the user and the game affects the user's experience. The subjects of this study were 30 students of the Dept. of Game Engineering. The research tool used randomness and negative emotion measurement tools. For the experiment, a board game called "12Janggi" was used, and randomness was added to the 'board' and 'piece' of the game. The analysis shows that proper randomness reduces negative emotions, but excessive randomness increases negative emotions. Although randomness can reduce the negative emotion of defeat, it can be seen that it should be applied to the context of the game.

  • By combining the elements of the game or game in education, it improves the interest of the students and improves academic achievement by creating an environment where they can participate directly. We propose a curriculum that can learn the core principles of the elementary curriculum through fusion. The proposed curriculum helps students to understand the principles of the elementary curriculum by learning the artificial intelligence method in board game form. Learning methods that incorporate such elements of the game will enable learners to learn the principles of IT so that they can develop their ability to understand objects from various perspectives and enhance their thinking skills. It is expected that the elementary artificial intelligence curriculum that incorporates the proposed gamification will contribute to the development of the information science curriculum, which has been highlighted recently from the 2015 curriculum.

  • One area where research is especially needed is their elaboration process and how they elaborate their idea as a group in a mathematical board game re-creation project. In this research, this process was named 'Mathematical Elaboration Process'. The purpose of this research is to understand how the gifted children elaborate their idea in a small group, and which idea can be chosen for a new board game when they are exposed to a project for making new mathematical board games using the what-if-not strategy. One of the gifted children's classes was chosen in which there were twenty students, and the class was composed of four groups in an elementary school in Korea. The researcher presented a series of re-creation game projects to them during the course of five weeks. To interpret their process of elaborating, the communication of the gifted students was recorded and transcribed. Students' elaboration processes were constructed through the interaction of both the mathematical route and the non-mathematical route. In the mathematical route, there were three routes; favorable thoughts, unfavorable thoughts and a neutral route. Favorable thoughts was concluded as 'Accepting', unfavorable thoughts resulted in 'Rejecting', and finally, the neutral route lead to a 'non-mathematical route'. Mainly, in a mathematical route, the reason of accepting the rule was mathematical thinking and logical reasons. The gifted children also show four categorized non-mathematical reactions when they re-created a mathematical board game; Inconsistency, Liking, Social Proof and Authority.
