  • In this paper, a measurement system of moving distance is developed. The error compensation method is also proposed using the characteristics of walking motion. As personal navigation systems and multimedia systems are emerging into the commericial market, men´s moving distance is considered as one of the important information. GPS offers the information easily but GPS can be used only when the satellites are visible. INS can calculate the moving distance anywhere but error is increased with time due to the sensor bias. In this paper, to detect the human walking distance a measurement system of moving distance only using low-cost accelerometer is developed. The sensor bias is estimated and compensated using the walking motion characteristics. The performanced of the proposed system is verified by experiment.

The Bias circuit implementation, which allows for compensation for threshold voltage and power supply voltage variation are provided. The proposed topology has high linearity and low noise characteristics. Results of the designed circuit are as follows: Overall conversion gain is 28.5 dB, input IP3 of LNA is 8 dBm, input IP3 of down conversion mixer is 0 dBm and total DC current consumption is 22.1 mA.

  • A method to compensate a bias hysteresis error of the ring laser gyro using the rate of temperature is proposed in this paper. Until now, we generally have measured and compensated the error of gyro and accelerometer using the temperature. However, we utilize the measured values of the temperature dependent error elements on the temperature rate in navigation system level. We show through experiments that the proposed method can improve the navigation performance and be very effective.

  • Recent researches have shown that IKONOS Geo imagery is capable of pixel-level geopositioning accuracy. However, a large number of ground control points(GCPs) are required in this case. For reducing the number of GCPs, users try to use the vender-supplied RPCs with Geo imagery. But, the biases included in RPCs give rise to absolute positioning error of about 25m as well known. In this paper, a method for the compensation of biases in rational polynomial coefficients(RPCs) for IKONOS Geo imagery is developed. the method requires provision of one or two GCPs to generate the compensated RPCs, and the analysis result of practical testing represents two or three pixels accuracy from IKONOS Geo imagery in case of using only compensated RPCs without GCPs.

  • This paper proposes a novel control strategy of a PV tracking system considering the shadow influence. If distance of between PV arrays is not enough, shadow can be occurred to PV module. In PV system, if shadow is occurred to PV modules then PV modules operates reverses bias, and will eventually cause hot-spot and loss. To reduce loss by shadow influence, this paper proposes shadow compensation algorithm using distance between arrays and shadow length of array. The distance between arrays is calculated by using azimuth of solar, and length of array shadow is calculated using by altitude of solar. The shadow compensation algorithm proposed in this paper compares distance between arrays and length of array shadow. When the shadow length is longer than the distance between arrays, the algorithm adjusts altitude of array to avoid the shadow effects. The control algorithm proposed in this paper proves validity through compared with conventional algorithm and proposes experiment result.

  • The INS provides high rate position, velocity and attitude data with good short-term stability while the GPS provides position and velocity data with long-term stability. By integrating the INS with GPS, a navigation system can be achieved to provide highly accurate navigation performance. For the best performance, time synchronization of GPS and INS data is very important in GPS/INS integrated system. But, it is impossible to synchronize them exactly due to the communication and computation time-delay. In this paper, to reduce the error caused by the measurement time-delay in GPS/INS integrated systems, error compensation methods using separate bias Kalman filter are suggested for both the...

  • One of major problems in speech recognition is performance degradation due to the mismatch between the training and test environments. Recently, Stereo-based Piecewise LInear Compensation for Environments (SPLICE), which is frame-based bias removal algorithm for cepstral enhancement using stereo training data and noisy speech model as a mixture of Gaussians, was proposed and showed good performance in noisy environments. In this paper, we propose several methods to improve the conventional SPLICE. First we apply Cepstral Mean Subtraction (CMS) as a preprocessor to SPLICE, instead of applying it as a postprocessor. Secondly, to compensate residual distortion after SPLICE processing, two-stage SPLICE is proposed. Thirdly we employ phonetic information for training SPLICE model. According to experiments on the Aurora 2 database, proposed method outperformed the conventional SPLICE and we achieved a 50% decrease in word error rate over the Aurora baseline system.

  • In this paper, we present a single framework based on GMM for speaker recognition. The proposed framework can simultaneously minimize environmental variations on mismatched conditions and adapt the bias free and speaker-dependent characteristics of claimant utterances to the background GMM to create a speaker model. We compare the closed-set speaker identification for conventional method and the proposed method both on TIMIT and NTIMIT. In the several sets of experiments we show the improved recognition rates on a simulated channel and a telephone channel condition by 7.2% and 27.4% respectively.
