In this paper, we introduce the exponentiated Weibull-geometric (EWG) distribution which generalizes two-parameter exponentiated Weibull (EW) distribution introduced by Mudholkar et al. (1995). This proposed distribution is obtained by compounding the exponentiated Weibull with geometric distribution. We derive its cumulative distribution function (CDF), hazard function and the density of the order statistics and calculate expressions for its moments and the moments of the order statistics. The hazard function of the EWG distribution can be decreasing, increasing or bathtub-shaped among others. Also, we give expressions for the Renyi and Shannon entropies. The maximum likelihood estimation is obtained by using EM-algorithm (Dempster et al., 1977; McLachlan and Krishnan, 1997). We can obtain the Bayesian estimation by using Gibbs sampler with Metropolis-Hastings algorithm. Also, we give application with real data set to show the flexibility of the EWG distribution. Finally, summary and discussion are mentioned.

Recently, several LPG engines for heavy-duty vehicles have been developed, which can replace some diesel engines that are one of a main source for air pollution in urban area. As a preliminary study on the liquid phase LPG injection (hereafter LPLI) system applicable to a heavy duty LPG engine, the engine output and combustion performance were investigated with various combustion chambers and fuel compositions using a single cylinder engine equipped. Experimental results revealed that ellipse, double ellipse and nebula type combustion chamber made a more advantage in breaking swirl flow into small turbulence scale than bathtub type. Especially, performance of nebula type showed most highest efficiency and engine output under lean mixture conditions. An investigation fur various LPG fuel compositions was also carried out, and revealed that the case with 40% propane and 60% butane shows the lowest efficiency at stoichiometry, however, as the mixture became leaner its efficiency increased and became even higher for 100% propane case.

Sarhan and Kundu (2009) introduced a new distribution named as the generalized linear failure rate distribution. This distribution generalizes several well known distributions. The probability density function of the generalized linear failure rate distribution can be right skewed or unimodal and its hazard function can be increasing, decreasing or bathtub shaped. This distribution can be used quite effectively to analyze lifetime data in place of linear failure rate, generalized exponential and generalized Rayleigh distributions. In this paper, we apply the simulated annealing algorithm to obtain the maximum likelihood point estimates of the parameters of the generalized linear failure rate distribution. Simulated annealing algorithm can not only find the global optimum; it is also less likely to fail because it is a very robust algorithm. The estimators obtained using simulated annealing algorithm have been compared with the corresponding traditional maximum likelihood estimators for their risks.

Burn-in is a widely used method to improve the quality of products or systems after they have been produced. In this paper, the problem of determining optimal burn-in time for a system which performs given mission is considered. It is assumed that the given mission time is not a fixed constant but a random variable which follows an exponential distribution. Assuming that the underlying lifetime distribution of a system has an eventually increasing failure rate function, an upper bound for the optimal burn-in time which maximizes the probability of performing given mission is derived. The obtained result is also applied to an illustrative example.

The Restroom in house have a main role of bath, excretion, and washing hands. So there are usually bathtub, washbasin, and chamber pot. But the actions of bathing, excretion, and washing hands are not always occur at the same time. So the necessary of sectioning the restroom's space is introduced. In Japan they have some different methods in planning the restroom space. They separate the roles of bathroom and toilet, and develop several types of restroom. And they applicated the several types of restroom to appropriate spaces and floors. These sectioning the restroom's space make the moving line rational and take off the waste of spaces.

The purpose of this paper is to introduce a proportional reversed hazard rate model, in contrast to the celebrated proportional hazard model, and study some of its structural properties. Some criteria of ageing are presented and the inheritance of the ageing notions (of the base line distribution) by the proposed model are studied. Two important data sets are analyzed: one uncensored and the other having some censored observations. In both cases, the confidence bands for the failure rate and survival function are investigated. In one case the failure rate is bathtub shaped and in the other it is upside bath tub shaped and thus the failure rates are non-monotonic even though the baseline failure rate is monotonic. In addition, the estimates of the turning points of the failure rates are provided.

This paper proposes a new class of distribution using the concept of exponentiated of distribution function that provides a more flexible model to the baseline model. It also proposes a new lifetime distribution with different types of hazard rates such as decreasing, increasing and bathtub. After studying some basic statistical properties and parameter estimation procedure in case of complete sample observation, we have studied point and interval estimation procedures in presence of type-II censored samples under a classical as well as Bayesian paradigm. In the Bayesian paradigm, we considered a Gibbs sampler under Metropolis-Hasting for estimation under two different loss functions. After simulation studies, three different real datasets having various nature are considered for showing the suitability of the proposed model.
The door systems in urban railway vehicles, through heavy maintenance checks by six years, 75 parts for 34 part types in 75 units have to be replaced periodically, and the remaining 68 parts for 40 part types to be replaced occasionally based on the necessity. Even though this process makes the door systems almost to be initial status, the systems have complicated mixes of components with new parts and used and then have different property from the original ones. This study suggested a burn-in test as a subsidiary tool to improve the reliability of urban railway vehicles, and suitable for testing conditions and the proposed new target value.
This user-centered research aims to empirically evaluate color temperature (K) and illuminance (lx) of residential bathroom lightings to determine the most optimal lighting conditions for productive task performance as well as for satisfying users' emotional needs. Using 3 LED lighting fixtures, 4 types of lighting contexts were investigated; main lighting, task lighting, shower lighting, and bath lighting. Two lightings were installed parallel to the vertical edges of the main bathroom mirror to be used as main and task lighting, while another fixture was installed above the bathtub to be used for shower and bathing. For each lighting context, subjects (N=54) were instructed to perform a few tasks during which time the users were exposed to different lighting conditions with color temperature ranging from 2700 K ~ 6500 K and illuminance ranging from 100 lx ~ 700 lx. Upon completing the given tasks, subjects were asked to evaluate the lighting conditions and their applicability for performing the given tasks. Based on the user evaluations, the most optimal lighting conditions for the different lighting scenarios are as follow: 1) 3500 K ~ 4300 K and 150 lx for main lighting, 2) 3500 K ~ 4300 K and 500 lx ~ 700 lx for task lighting, and 3) 2700 K ~ 3500 K and 100 lx ~ 150 lx for shower/bath lighting. These results can be used to adjust the lighting standards suggested by KS, as well as be utilized by both engineers and designers in designing new types of user-centered bathroom lightings.

In this paper, we introduce the inverted exponentiated Weibull (IEW) distribution which contains exponentiated inverted Weibull distribution, inverse Weibull (IW) distribution, and inverted exponentiated distribution as submodels. The proposed distribution is obtained by the inverse form of the exponentiated Weibull distribution. In particular, we explain that the proposed distribution can be interpreted by Marshall and Olkin's book (Lifetime Distributions: Structure of Non-parametric, Semiparametric, and Parametric Families, 2007, Springer) idea. We derive the cumulative distribution function and hazard function and calculate expression for its moment. The hazard function of the IEW distribution can be decreasing, increasing or bathtub-shaped. The maximum likelihood estimation (MLE) is obtained. Then we show the existence and uniqueness of MLE. We can also obtain the Bayesian estimation by using the Gibbs sampler with the Metropolis-Hastings algorithm. We also give applications with a simulated data set and two real data set to show the flexibility of the IEW distribution. Finally, conclusions are mentioned.
