  • In the paper, an optimal tuning algorithm is presented to automatically improve the performance of a hybrid controller, using the simplified reasoning method and the proposed complex method. The method estimates automatically the optimal values of the parameters of a hybrid controller, according to the change rate and limitation condition of output, The controller is applied to plants with time-delay. Then, computer simulations are conducted at step input and the performances are evaluated in the ITAE.

  • The SLIM used in the conveyance system has been generally developed the controller based on the slip frequency control and the VVVF method to obtain the quick response for the position control signal. This paper deals with the trust control of the SLIM by vector control with Bang-Bang condition. Also, the control system is composed of the PI controller for soft start of the SLIM and the q-axis current controller for correction in phase with Space Vector for reducing the harmonic pulsation in low speed. The processing for vector control and robust dynamic breaking control is carried out by MC80196KC micro processor and IGBT module. The proposed scheme is verified through the computer simulation and experiments for the 10KW SLIM.

  • An air-fuel ratio control method is studied to keep the air-fuel ratio of the exhaust gas in the neighborhood of the stoichiometric air-fuel ratio to maximize the conversion efficiency of the three-way catalytic converter. Estimators, which estimate the air-fuel ratio of the exhaust gas, are proposed using neural networks to overcome the limit of the presently used bang-bang type exhaust gas oxygen sensor. Using these estimators, PI controller for air-fuel ratio control is designed and is experimented for an automobile engine. The proposed controller reduces the variation of air-fuel ratio of the exhaust gas from the stoichiometric air-fuel ratio by 50%-75% when compared to the existing controller.

  • This paper describes the PWM-VSI controller of three-phase UPS system using stationary reference frame. This controller meets the specification the UPS inverter output voltage even under the unbalanced or nonlinear load. This controller is also constructed with duble control loop of the outer voltage control loop and the inner current control loop. For the fast response of the output voltage control, yhr inner current control loop of the capacitor current os used. To get the good property against overshoot, the If controller us used. The outer voltage controller is designed with P controller and the high gain transfer function is used for the zero steady state error. All control gains of both controller is designed base on the CDM method.

  • This paper demonstrates an AI application for representing operator's heuristic knowledges in implementing process control. AI controller constitutes servo and regulatory controller, respectively. The knowledge base for servo controller was designed to obtain the process output with respect to the desired set-point in short period. The regulatory controller was to provide smooth output near the set-point. The AI controllers was implemented in Turbo-PROLOG on IBM-PC. For the parallel processing, Turbo-C was linked to calculate the process output. The result shows that this AI controller can be well suited not only for minimum phase but also for non-minimum phase. This controller may be used as a back-up controller for rather extensive expert system.

  • The average current mode control of zero current switched series resonant converter is proposed. The conventional current controllers such as bang bang current controller and predictive current cantroller have some demerits like current offset and complexity. In this paper, the proposed current control technique are conventional current control techniques are comparatively studied. By the proposed control technique. the current cantroller can be simplely implemented without current offset.

A New Soft Switching Step-Down/Up Converter with Inherent PFC Performance

  • In this paper a new buck-boost type DC-DC converter is presented. Its voltage gain is positive, all active elements operate under soft-switching condition independent of loading, magnetic isolation and self output short-circuit protection exist, and very fast dynamic operation is achievable by a simple bang-bang controller. This converter also exhibits appropriate PFC characteristics since its input current is inherently proportional to the source voltage. When the voltage source is off-line, it is sufficient to add an inductor after the rectifier, then near unity power factor is achievable. All essential guidelines to design the converter as a DC-DC and a PFC regulator are presented. Simulation and experimental results verify the developed theoretical analysis.
