Hongcheon magnetite deposit is embedded, as a lens shape, in biotite banded gneiss belonging to the Gyeonggi metamorphic complex. It gradationally changes to the host quartz-feldspathic banded gneiss in the mineral composition. Magnetite ore bodies are composed of magnetite ores and magnetite banded gneiss which gradationally change each other in the amount of magnetite. They consist mainly of magnetite, quartz, plagioclase and chlorite accompanied with amphibole, biotite, muscovite, monazite, apatite, ankerite, siderite, rhodochrositic dolomite, calcite and rutile. Amphibole is subdivided into hornblende, richterite and magnesio-riebekite in magnetite ores, and magnesio-, ferro- or actinolitic hornblende in magnetite banded gneiss. The variation in chemical composition may be influenced by bulk composition and controlled mainly by glaucophane $Na(M4)Al_3^{VI}=CaMg$ and richterite Na(M4)Na(A)=Ca substitutions. Biotite in magnetite banded gneiss has an annite composition. Chlorite changes in chemical composition from pycnochlorite to diabantite in magnetite ores and belongs to pycnochlorite in magnetite banded gneiss. The mafic minerals and feldspar have been strongly altered by carbonate minerals which are secondarily formed by introduced hydrothermal solution. Fe-bearing carbonate minerals can be subdivided into ankerite, siderite and rhodochrositic dolomite according to the ratio of Fe-Mg-Mn component.
The metamorphic rocks of Yongin-Anseong area in Gyeonggi massif are composed of high-grade gneisses and schists which are considered as Precambrian basement, and Jurassic granite which intruded the metamorphic rocks. In this paper, we discuss the geochemical characteristics of metamorphic rocks and granites in this area based on REE and Nd isotope geochemistry. And we also discuss the petrogenetic relationship between metamorphic rocks and granites in this area. Most of Nd model ages (T$\_$DM/$\^$Nd/) from the metamorphic rocks range ca. 2.6Ga~2.9Ga which are correspond to the main crustal formation stage in Gyeonggi massif by Lee et. al. (2003). And Nd model ages show that the source material of quartzofeldspathic gneiss is slightly older than that of biotite banded gneiss. In chondrite-normalized rare earth element pattern, the range of (La/Yb)$\_$N/ value from biotite banded gneiss is 37~136, which shows sharp gradient and suggests that biotite banded gneiss was originated from a strongly fractionated source material. However, that of amphibolite is 4.65~6.64, which shows nearly flattened pattern. Particularly, the chondrite normalized REE patterns from the high-grade metamorphic rocks show the REE geochemisoy of original source material before metamorphism. In addition, the values of (La/Yb)$\_$N/ and Nd model ages of granite are 32~40 and 1.69Ga~2.08Ga, respectively, which suggest that the source material of granite is different from that of Precambrian basement such as biotite banded gneiss and quartzofeldspthic gneiss in the area.
The Precambrian granitic gneisses are widely distributed in the Danyang-Yecheon area, eastern part of Korea, where the Ryeongnam massif borders the Ogcheon fold belt. They are composed of migmatitic, biotite granitic, garnet-bearing and granoblastic granitic gneisses. The common joint sets of the granitic gneiss are NE and NS directions, which are probably related to the effects of Daebo orogeny and Bulgugsa disturbance, respectively. Mineral assemblages of the banded gneiss xenolith in the garnet-bearing granitic gneiss are quartz-plagioc1ase-biotite-mus-covite-orthoclase and quartz-plagioc1ase-biotite-garnet, belonging to the amphibolite facies. The granoblastic granitic gneiss is felsic, metaluminous, and granitic, and shows subalkaline trend. The garnet-biotite geothermometry of garnet-bearing granitic gneiss yields 640$^{\circ}$-708$^{\circ}C$ at pressure of 4 kb.
Granitic gneiss containing biotite banded gneiss relict around the Daeheung talc deposit are widely distributed which were formed by regional metamorphism of both epidote-amphibolite and iater greenschist facies and granitization. They were derived from same silico-aluminous rocks of sedimentary origin. The mineral assemblages, which are common in the biotite banded gneiss, formed during regional metamorphisms, are survived in the granitic gneiss. The mineral assemblages of the latter greenschist facies may be formed retrogressively from the first epidote-amphibolite facies. The chemical compositions of biotite, muscovite, and chlorite, the important constituents of the gneisses, were controlled by the bulk composition, the chemical composition of the original mineral, and environment of the regional metamorphisms and granitization. The chemical equilibrium between coexisting'minerals, especially biotite and muscovite, is relatively well established, which was controlled mainly by tschermakitic and phengitic substitutions. Cholrite was formed mainly from either biotite or muscovite by retrogressive alteration or granitization, and have nearly similar chemical compositions regardless of the occurrences. The orientation trend of the foliation, joint and quartz vein developed in the gneisses was analyzed by equal area projection which the latter two show nearly identical trend in the strike and dip. This may suggest that the hydrothermal solution was introduced along joint during wet granitization.
The study area is located at the middle part of Daebo granitic batholith in the Gyeonggi massif. The geology of the area is mostly composed of Precambrian gneiss complex, coarse- grained middle Jurassic and fine-grained early Cretaceous biotite granites, and Cretaceous small stocks and dykes. The gneiss complex consists mainly of banded gneiss, granitc gneiss, some schist and quartzite. The coarse-grained granite can be divided into greyish granite(Gg1 in the margin and slightly pinkish granite(Gp) in the center. The former is hornblende biotite granite characterized by basic clot and xenolith. The latter is generally garnet biotite granite containing only poor basic clot. The fine-grained granite intruded the coarse-grained granite. The K/Ar biotite ages from the granites belong to middle Jurassic and early Cretaceous. The K/Ar biotite ages and geochemical compositions indicate that Gg and Gp were differenciated from a single magmatic body. The granites are calc-alkali and metaluminous-peraluminous. They are S-type(i1menite series) and partly I-type granitedmagnetite series) formed by melting of relatively fixed source composition. Their tectonic settings belong to the compressional suits and VAG of continental margin.

In vicinity of Seoul, there has been water service tunnel that classified into 1st grade facility by special act for the safety control of public structures and with providing capacity equals to $1,543{\times}10^3$(ton/day) and inner pressure equals to $2.5-3.5kg/cm^2$. In this research, site investigation and stability analysis for water tunnel caused by new construction of road tunnel were carried out. the ground near water tunnel were zoned into spatial area having similar geotechnical characteristics and estimating geotechnical properties for each area. The site for analysis consists of banded biotite gneiss, biotite schist and granite gneiss with spatial non-homogeneity, and for that reason weathering and fault zone were distributed with large scale. It's important thing to consider spatial ground zone and their geotechnical properties properly into stability analysis at design and construction stage. Also, using results of site investigation, stability of existing tunnel have been analyzed for Hydraulic Fracture/Jacking and deformation in detail.
The Precambrian granite, and the Yuli group and the Hyeondong gneisss complex are studied to unravel the metamorphic history of the northeastern Sobaeksan massif. The Hongjesa granite, emplaced at 650-$700^{\circ}C$ and $3{\pm}1$ kbar, has been altered at 310-$568^{\circ}C$. Not only the chloritization of biotite but also the sericitization and saussuritization of plagioclase occur at the subsolidus stage. Biotites of the Hongjesa granite vary in their Al, Fe and Mg contents through dioctahedral and tschermakitic substitutions during the subsolidus stage. Secondary muscovites from biotite and feldspars are enriched in their Si and Mg+Fe contents through tschermakitic and trictahedral substitutuions. The metamorphic pressures and temperatures estimated from the Hyeondong gneiss complex are 3.6-6.6 kbar and 593-$718^{\circ}C$, respectively. Local migmatization producing the cordierite-bearing assemblage occurs in the Hyeondong gneiss complex. The Gibbs' method applied to the assemblage of garnet+biotite+plagioclase+quartz in banded gneiss suggests a complex P-T history of the Hyeondong gneiss complex.
Oxygen and hydrogen isotopic compositions of the Jurassic peraluminous Hwacheon granite were measured, and compared with those of other Jurassic peraluminous Daebo granite in Korea. $\delta$$\^$18/O values for quartz and feldspar of the Hwacheon granite range from 8.2 to 10.6 and 5.8 to 9.0$\textperthousand$, respectively. Whole rock $\delta$$\^$18/O values for banded biotite gneiss country rocks surrounding the Hwacheon granites range from 8.1 to 9.4$\textperthousand$. Whole rock and biotite $\delta$D Values for Hwacheon granite range from -84 to -113 and -107 to -113$\textperthousand$, respectively. Whole rock $\delta$D values for banded biotite gneiss country rocks range from -76 to -100$\textperthousand$. Both $\delta$$\^$18/O and $\delta$D values of the Hwacheon granite are characterized by low values compared to the 'normal' values for the fresh peraluminous granitic rocks. Low $\delta$$\^$18/O values of the Hwacheon granite resulted from fluid-rock interaction for a long period. Isotopic modelling result renders that a relatively low-$\delta$$\^$18/O fluid below -1$\textperthousand$ was involved in subsolidus isotopic exchange under a relatively high fluid/rock ratio (<-6). The fluid of meteoric origin has experienced a modification of oxygen isotopic composition as a result of fluid-rock interaction with the Hwacheon granite and surrounding metapelitic country rocks.

In this research, case studies considering tunnel interface were conducted for zoning the ground into spatial area having similar geotechnical characteristics and estimating geotechnical properties for each area. Also, in this studies, these analysis works are very useful for further decision making process by stability analysis.
The strength evaluation of rocks is a very important factor in designing and constructing tunnels or underground excavation. However, it takes a lot of time and endeavor to perform the unconfined compressive strength test for practice and a number of tests are limited. In order to make up for this method, the point load strength test is suggested. Generally, the strength of a rock differs depending on its type and region. However, as people unite the Point Load Strength Indexes of various regions and types to use in practice in many cases, they find difficulty in analogizing the exact strength. The purpose of this study is suggestion of the value in construction site by analizing the relation of both unconfined compressive and point load strength in the Gyeonggi gneiss complex.
