백출과 사인 추출 혼합물의 지방세포분화 억제 효과 (Inhibitiory Effects of Mixture of Atractylodes Macrocephala and Amomum Villosum Extracts on Adipocyte Differentiation in OP9 Cells)

  • In this study, we investigated the inhibition effects of mixtures of Atractylodes macrocephala (AM) and Amomum villosum (AV) water extracts on adipocyte differentiation. Treatment with mixtures of AM and AV extracts in a ratio of 3:1 for 24 and 48 hours did not show any cytotoxicity in OP9 cells. Mixtures of AM(3) and AV(1) extracts inhibited adipocyte differentiation, expression of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPARγ) and CCAT/enhancer-binding protein alpha (C/EBPα), the major transcription factors of differentiation. It also inhibited the expression of lipoprotein lipase (LPL), adipocyte protein 2 (aP2), which are PPARγ-target genes in adipocyte. We also checked the inhibition effects on cell proliferation during the early stage of differentiation by treatment with mixtures of AM(3) and AV(1) extracts. It markedly inhibited adipocyte proliferation after 48 hours, and also the phosphorylation of ERK1/2 and Akt after 10 min or 3 hour. These results identify a possible mechanism of action of mixtures of AM(3) and AV(1) extracts, suggesting that the mixtures of AM(3) and AV(1) extracts-induced inhibition of ERK and Akt phosphorylation suppresses adipogenesis by inhibiting other signaling cascades that include PPARγ and C/EBPα during the process of OP9 adipocyte differentiation.

고지방식이 유도 비만 모델에서 백출과 사인 추출 혼합물이 체중 및 지질대사에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Mixture of Atractylodes macrocephala and Amomum villosum Extracts on Body Weight and Lipid Metabolism in High Fat Diet-Induced Obesity Model)

  • In this study, we investigated the dose-dependent effects of mixtures of Atractylodes macrocephala (AM) and Amomum villosum (AV) water extracts in a ratio of 3:1 on high fat diet (HFD)-induced obesity model. Oral administration of various concentrations with mixtures of AM and AV extracts in a ratio of 3:1 for 6 weeks inhibited HFD-induced increases of body, liver and epididymal fat weights in a dose-dependent fashions. Those effects may be mediated by decreased expressions of lipogenesis-related genes such as acetyl coA carboxylase (ACC) and fatty acid synthase (FAS) in liver. Also, increase of insulin and decrease of adiponectin in serum by HFD supply were inhibited by three different dosages of mixtures of AM and AV extracts in a ratio of 3:1. HFD supply induced increases of serum total cholesterol, triglyceride and LDL cholesterol. However, hyperlipidemia was significantly decreased in dose-dependent manners by treatment with mixtures of AM and AV extracts. Based on the results of the present study, hypolipidemic and anti-obesity effects by mixtures of AM and AV extracts were found in HFD-induced obesity model. Further clinical investigation is needed to develop anti-obesity therapeutic or preventive agents by using mixtures of AM and AV extracts.

플라스틱 광섬유를 이용한 호흡센서의 개발 (Development of a Respiration Sensor Using Plastic Optical Fiber)

  • In this study, we fabricated a plastic optical fiber based sensor which can monitor the respiration of a patient. The circumference changes of the abdomen were measured using a mirror, a light source and optical detectors because the circumferences of the abdomen could be varied with respiration. The intensity of the reflected lights were measured according to the changes of distance between mirror and plastic optical fiber connected to a light source and a photodiode-amplifier system using a Y-coupler. The respiration signals of fiber-optic sensor system were compared with those of the respiratory and temperature transducers of the $BIOPAC^{(R)}$ system. It is expected that a fiber-optic respiration sensor could be developed for real time respiration monitoring during MRI procedure based on this study.

  • 불연속면을 따라 점토 등의 충전물이 포함된 경우에는 불연속면의 방향이 유리하게 작용하더라도 사면안정에 불안정성을 초래한다. 연구지역의 사면활동은 점토충전물과 풍화토의 경계를 따라 발생하였다. 이것은 물성의 차이를 보이는 경계부분이 존재했기 때문이며, 암석에서 엽리 등이 구조적 운동시 연약대로 작용하여 층간의 미끄러짐을 유도하는 현상과 매우 유사하다. 대부분의 해석에서 점토충전물이 존재할 경우에는 하나의 불연속면으로 설정하여 해석한다. 이때의 불연속면은 점토층내에서의 활동면으로 해석되므로 점토와 원지반과의 경계부의 특성이 해석에 고려되지 못하여 불연속면의 거동은 결국 점토의 물리적 성질에 많이 지배된다. 점토충전물로 인한 활동사면의 안정성 평가 결과는 충전물에 의한 불연속면의 파괴유형에 따른 강도정수에 의해 안전율에 상당한 차이를 보인다.

섬유근육통의 한방치료 증례보고 1례 (A Case Report of Fibromyalgia Improved by Korean Medical Treatment)

  • Introduction: The aim of this study is to report the effect of traditional Korean medical treatment on fibromyalgia. Case presentation: A patient with fibromyalgia was treated with acupuncture, pharmacopuncture (Bee venom, Hwangryunhaedok-tang), cupping therapy, moxibustion therapy and herbal medicine for 37 days. To reduce the patient's symptoms, we provided herbal medicine three times a day, as well as acupuncture, pharmacopuncture, cupping therapy and moxibustion therapy once a day for 37 days. To evaluate the results of this treatment, we used the Numeral Rating Scale (NRS), Score of Sleeping Quality (SSQ) and Fibromyalgia Impact Questionnaire (FIQ). After treatment, the patient showed that pain was reduced, the score of NRS was improved, FIQ improved from 91 to 69 and SSQ improved from 3 to 1. No adverse reaction was noted. Conclusion: According to the result, traditional Korean medical treatment can be effective and safe for the treatment of fibromyalgia.

  • I. Introduction The essence of Oriental medicine consists of ancient books, experienced doctors and succeeded skills of common society. Many famous doctors studied medical science by their fathers or teachers. So the history of medical science is long. $\ll$DangDaeMyeongIImJeungJeongHwa(當代名醫臨證精華)$\gg$ written by SaWoogWang(史宇廣) and DanSeoGeon(單書健) has many medical experience of famous doctors. So it has important historical value. Bi(痺) means blocking. BiJeung is one kind of symptoms making muscles, bones and jonts feel pain, numbness or edema. For example it can be gout or SLE etc. So I studied ${\ll}BiJeungJuJip{\gg}$. II. Final Decision Following decisions of Chinese doctors of 20th century are as follows ; 1. JuYangChun(朱良春) emphasized on IkSinJangDok(益腎壯督) to treat BiJeong. And he devided WanBi(頑痺) as PungHanSeup(風寒濕), DamEo(痰瘀), YeolDok(熱毒), SinHeo(腎虛). He used insects for medicine. 2. ChoSuDoek(焦樹德) introduced past prescription. He used ChiBiTang(治痺湯) to treat HaengBi(行痺), TongBi(痛痺), ChakBi(着痺). He insisted that Han(寒; coldness) and Seup(濕; dampness) be Eum(陰) and Pung(風; wind) can change his character to be Eum. After all BiJeung is usually EumJeung. So he used GaeJi(桂枝) and BuJa(附子). By the way he used ChungYeolSanBiTang(淸熱散痺湯) for YeolBi, BoSinGeoHanChiWangTang SaBok(王士福) emphasized on the importance of medicine. He introduced many treatments like CheongYeol(情熱) for YeolBi and YiO(二烏) for HanBi. And he divided BiJeung period for three steps. At 1st step, we must use GeoSa(祛邪), at 2nd step, we must use BuJeong(扶正) and at 3rd step, we must use BoHyeol(補血), he insisted. And he introduced many herbs to treat BiJeung. 4. JeongGwangJeok(丁光迪) said that GaeJi(桂枝), MaHwang(麻黃), OYak(烏蘖) and BuJa(附子) are very important for TongRak(通絡). And pain usually results from Han(寒), so he liked to use hot-character herbs. 5. MaGi(馬志) insisted that BiJeung usually result from ChilJeong(七情). And he liked to use insects for treatment of BiJeung. 6. WeolSeokMu(越錫武) introduced 8 kinds of treatments and divided BiJeung period. Also he divided BeJeung for PungBi(風痺), HanBi(寒痺) and SeupBi(濕痺). 7. SeoGeaHam(徐季含) observed many patients and concluded that 86.7% of BiJeung is HeuJeung(虛症). 8. YuJiMyeong(劉志明) said that YeolBi is important and CheongYeol is also important. So he emphasized on DangGyuiJeomTongTang(當歸拈痛湯) and SeonBiTang(宣痺湯). 9. WangLiChu(汪履秋) studied cause of WanBi. Internal cause is GiHyeolHeo(氣血虛) and GanSinHeo(肝腎虛) and external cause is SaGi(邪氣) he insisted. 10. WangSaSang(王士相) said that YeolBi can be SeupYeolBi or EumHeuYeolBi(陰虛熱痺) and HanSeupBi(寒濕痺) is rare. He use WooBangJaSan(牛蒡子散) and BangPungHwan(防風丸) for SeupYeolBi, DangGyuiSaYeokTang(當歸四逆湯) for HanSeupBi. 11. JinTaekGang(陳澤江) treated YeolBi with BaekHoGaGyeJiTang(自虎加桂枝湯) and SaMyoSan(四妙散). If they don't have effect, he tried to cure BiJeung step by step. And he used e term of GeunBi(筋痺) and BangGiMogwaEIInTang(防己木瓜薏苡仁湯) was good for GeunBi. 12. MaSeoJeong(麻瑞亭) said that PungSeupYeokJeul(風濕歷節) is BiJeung and it is related to GanBinSin(肝脾腎; liver, Spleen, Kindey). And he emphasized on balance WiGi(衛氣) and YoungHeul(營血). 13. SaJeJu(史濟桂) said that GeunGolBi(筋骨痺) is similar to arthritis and sometimes called ChakBi. And SinBi(腎痺) is terminal stage of ChakBi, he said. He also used insects for treatment. 14. JeongJeNam(丁濟南) tried to cure SLE and used GyeJi, CheonCho(川椒), SinGeunCho(伸筋草), SunRyeongBi(仙靈脾), HyconSam(玄蔘) and GamCho(甘草). 15. JinGYungHwa(陳景和) emphasized on diagnosis of tongue. If the color of tongue is blue, it usually has EoHyeol(瘀血), for example. And he also used insects. 16. JuSongI(朱松毅) tried to devide YeolBi with OnByeong(溫病), Wi(衛), Gi(氣) and Hyeol(血). 17. RuDaBong(蔞多峰) said that JyeongHeo(正虛), OiSa(外邪) and EoHyeol are closely related. And he explained BiJeung by deviding the body into the part, for example head, neck, shoulder, waist, upper limb and lower limb. 18. YuMuBo(劉茂甫) defined PungHanSyubBi as chronic stage and YeolBi as acute stage.

울릉도 화산암류의 낙석 규모 및 거동 분석 (Analysis of Magnitude and Behavior of Rockfall for Volcanic Rocks in Ulleung-Do)

  • 낙석은 형상, 체적 및 중량 등 그 규모를 예측하기 어렵고 비탈면의 높이 및 경사 등 기하학적 형상 등에 따라 불규칙적인 거동을 보인다. 본 연구에서는 해안도로를 따라 낙석이 빈번하게 발생하는 울릉도의 비탈면을 대상으로 현장조사를 수행하여 낙석의 유형을 분류하고 규모를 산정하였다. 또한 시뮬레이션 기법을 적용하여 도로에 영향을 미치는 낙석의 거동을 분석하였다. 연구지역에 분포하는 집괴암과 조면암질암은 각각 탈락형과 박리형의 낙석 유형를 보이며, 낙석의 규모는 조면암질암이 집괴암에 비해 상대적으로 2~3배 크게 분포하는 것으로 나타났다. 시뮬레이션을 이용한 낙석의 거동을 분석한 결과, 도로에 작용하는 충격 에너지가 표준 낙석방지울타리의 흡수 가능 운동에너지의 범위를 초과하여 고강도특수망을 적용할 경우 안정성이 확보되는 것으로 나타났다.

SSR 마커에 의한 한국 원산 Soja 아속의 다양성과 지리적 유연관계 (Diversity and Geographical Relationships by SSR Marker in Subgenus Soja Originated from Korea)

  • 우리나라에서 자생하는 야생콩(Glycine soja) 81점과 재래종 콩(G. max) 130점에 대해 7개의 SSR 마커의 다형성을 통해 두 종간의 변이를 조사하고 지리적 유연관계를 분석한 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1. 전체 두종에서 총 144 개의 대립인자(평균 20.6개)를 확인하였고, 각 유전자좌별 복수 대립인자수는 $13{\sim}41$개로 나타났다. 각 종별 대립인자수로 야생콩은 총 117개의 대립인자수(평균 16.7개)를 나타냈으며 재래종 콩은 총 69개의 대립인자(평균 9.9개)를 나타냈고, 두종간에 서로 공유된 대립인자수는 총 42개였다. 2. 전체 두종에 대한 유전자좌별 유전자 다양성 값 범위는 0.69(Satt141)${\sim}0.96$(Sat_074)이었다. 또한 전체 다양성 값은 0.81을 나타냈고 야생콩은 0.88, 재래종 콩은 0.69였다. 3. 야생콩과 재래종 콩의 유전적 변이에서 SSR 분석에 의한 정준판별분석 결과, Canl(84.2%)에 의해 좌측은 G. soja(I군), 우측은 G. max(II군) 그리고 두 종이 서로 중복되는 군(III군)으로 구분되었으며, 유전적 기저가 넓은 야생콩이 재래종에 비해 변이가 크게 나타났다. 4. 야생콩의 지리적 유연관계는 2개의 군으로 구분되었는데 I군은 강원, 경상, 전라, 충청도 지역이, II군에는 경기도 지역이 독립된 군을 형성하였으며, I군내에서는 강원도와 경상도 지역이, 그리고 전라도와 충청도 지역이 각각 같은 군을 형성하였다. 재래종 콩도 2개의 군으로 구분되었는데 I군에는 강원도, 경기도, 경상도 지역이, II군에는 전라도, 충청도 지역이 포함되었다. 또한, I군내에서는 경상도 지역이 독립된 군을 형성하였으며, 강원도와 경기도 지역이 강한 유연관계를 나타냈다.
