Analysis of impact of CATV leakage on CDMA Mobile Communication Systems (CDMA 이동통신시스템에 대한 케이블 방송 전송설비 누설전자파 영향 분석)

  • In this paper, the leaky electric field intensity of outdoor CATV facilities on CDMA mobile service band defined in technical regulation related with CATV is investigated if appropriate or not. From experimental and theoretical analysis results, Maximum allowable power level of CATV leakage should be -110dBm/1.23MHz. Also, the CATV leakage intensity thresholds, which may not nearly give an impact on the uplink performance of CDMA mobile base station for outdoor background noise of -100~-80dBm/1.23MHz to be measured in outdoor environment, couldn't conform to the current CATV technical regulation. Therefore, the leakage intensity in the current CATV technical regulation is rated as a too much low level in view of an overly worst case.

  • In this paper, W-band transceiver module for compact radar has been designed and fabricated. Utilizing proposed microstrip-to-waveguide transition, the error between design and implementation is reduced. The proposed transition provides less than 1 dB insertion loss per transition and reliability for fabrication. In order to apply compact radar with dual-polarized monopulse directly, W-band transmitter with 28 dBm output power is designed and developed. Also, 6 channels of receiver module with low noise figure 13.5 dB and maximum 17 dBm input P1dB is developed. Proposed W-band transceiver module is expected compact radar application for dual-polarized monopulse signal processing system.

Impact of Cumulus Parameterization Schemes on the Regional Climate Simulation for the Domain of CORDEX-East Asia Phase 2 Using WRF Model (WRF 모형의 적운 모수화 방안이 CORDEX 동아시아 2단계 지역의 기후 모의에 미치는 영향)

  • This study assesses the performance of the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model in reproducing regional climate over CORDEX-East Asia Phase 2 domain with different cumulus parameterization schemes [Kain-Fritch (KF), Betts-Miller-Janjic (BM), and Grell-Devenyi-Ensemble (GD)]. The model is integrated for 27 months from January 1979 to March 1981 and the initial and boundary conditions are derived from European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecast Interim Reanalysis (ERA-Interim). The WRF model reasonably reproduces the temperature and precipitation characteristics over East Asia, but the regional scale responses are very sensitive to cumulus parameterization schemes. In terms of mean bias, WRF model with BM scheme shows the best performance in terms of summer/winter mean precipitation as well as summer mean temperature throughout the North East Asia. In contrast, the seasonal mean precipitation is generally overestimated (underestimated) by KF (GD) scheme. In addition, the seasonal variation of the temperature and precipitation is well simulated by WRF model, but with an overestimation in summer precipitation derived from KF experiment and with an underestimation in wet season precipitation from BM and GD schemes. Also, the frequency distribution of daily precipitation derived from KF and BM experiments (GD experiment) is well reproduced, except for the overestimation (underestimation) in the intensity range above (less) then $2.5mm\;d^{-1}$. In the case of the amount of daily precipitation, all experiments tend to underestimate (overestimate) the amount of daily precipitation in the low-intensity range < $4mm\;d^{-1}$ (high-intensity range > $12mm\;d^{-1}$). This type of error is largest in the KF experiment.

  • Purpose: The widespread introduction of bacterial conjugate vaccines has decreased the risk of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) pleocytosis due to bacterial meningitis (BM) in children. However, most patients with CSF pleocytosis are hospitalized and treated with parenteral antibiotics for several days. The bacterial meningitis score (BMS) is a validated multivariate model derived from a pediatric population in the postconjugate vaccine era and has been evaluated in several studies. In the present study, we examined the usefulness of BMS in South Korean patients. Methods: This study included 1,063 patients with CSF pleocytosis aged between 2 months and 18 years. The BMS was calculated for all patients, and the sensitivity and negative predictive value (NPV) of the test were evaluated. Results: Of 1,063 patients, 1,059 (99.6%) had aseptic meningitis (AM). Only four patients (0.4%) had BM. The majority of patients (98%) had a BMS of ${\leq}1$, indicating a diagnosis of AM. The BMS was 0 in 635 patients (60%) and 1 in 405 patients (38%). All four BM patients had a BMS of ${\geq}4$. Conclusion: To our knowledge, this is the first study to investigate the diagnostic strength of the BMS in South Korea. In our study, the BMS showed 100% sensitivity and 100% NPV. Therefore, we believe that the BMS is a good clinical prediction rule to identify children with CSF pleocytosis who are at a risk of BM.

Synthesis and Photovoltaic Properties of Conducting Polymers Based on Phenothiazine (Phenothiazine계 전도성고분자의 합성 및 유기박막태양전지로의 적용 연구)

  • In this paper, four conducting polymers (poly[(N-butyl-phenothiazine)-sulfide] (PBPS), poly[(N-hexyl-phenothiazine)-sulfide] (PHPS), poly[(N-decyl-phenothiazine)-sulfide] (PDPS), and poly[(N-(2-ethylhexyl)-phenothiazine)-sulfide] (PEHPS)) were synthesized with a high temperature and high pressure reaction. The structures of synthesized polymers were confirmed by $^1H-NMR$ and characterized by UV-Vis, cyclic voltammetry, and GPC. From the UV-Vis absorption spectra, the ${\lambda}_{max}$ values of PBPS, PHPS, PDPS, and PEHPS were 338, 341, 340, and 334 nm, respectively and their optical band gaps were 3.11, 3.13, 3.16, and 3.05 eV, respectively. To evaluate the feasible applicability as a photovoltaic cell, the devices composed of for example, ITO/PEDOT : PSS/polymer (PBPS, PDPS) : $PC_{71}BM$ (1 : 3, w/w)/$BaF_2$/Ba/Al were fabricated using the blends of the PBPS and PDPS as a donor, and $PC_{71}BM$ as an acceptor. Then, the power conversion efficiencies (PCE) of devices were estimated as 0.076% of PBPS and 0.136% of PDPS by solar simulator.

A Fully Integrated Dual-Band WLP CMOS Power Amplifier for 802.11n WLAN Applications

  • A fully integrated dual-band CMOS power amplifier (PA) is developed for 802.11n WLAN applications using wafer-level package (WLP) technology. This paper presents a detailed design for the optimal impedance of dual-band PA (2 GHz/5 GHz PA) output transformers with low loss, which is provided by using 2:2 and 2:1 output transformers for the 2 GHz PA and the 5 GHz PA, respectively. In addition, several design issues in the dual-band PA design using WLP technology are addressed, and a design method is proposed. All considerations for the design of dual-band WLP PA are fully reflected in the design procedure. The 2 GHz WLP CMOS PA produces a saturated power of 26.3 dBm with a peak power-added efficiency (PAE) of 32.9%. The 5 GHz WLP CMOS PA produces a saturated power of 24.7 dBm with a PAE of 22.2%. The PA is tested using an 802.11n signal, which satisfies the stringent error vector magnitude (EVM) and mask requirements. It achieved an EVM of -28 dB at an output power of 19.5 dBm with a PAE of 13.1% at 2.45 GHz and an EVM of -28 dB at an output power of 18.1 dBm with a PAE of 8.9% at 5.8 GHz.

  • This paper describes the design of frequency down converting Mixer in the receiver to use compound semiconductor and CMOS product process. The basic theory and structure of frequency down converting Mixer is surveyed, and we design mixer circuit with active balun which use the compound semiconductor and CMOS process. This mixer convert a single ended signal to differential signal at input port of RF and LO instead of matching circuit to get dual band balanced mixer structure and characteristic broadband. This designed mixer has a conversion gain $-1{\sim}-6[dB]$ at $2{\sim}6[GHz]$ bandwidths. However, the simulation of the designed mixer with active balun has the result of a 7[dB] conversion gain for -2[dBm] LO input power and -10[dBm] input P1[dB] at 5.8[GHz].

Localization of Genes Involved in Exopolysaccharide Biosynthesis in Zoogloea ramigera 115SLR

  • Mutants having altered levels and/or types of EPS in exopolysaccharide biosynthesis were isolated after NTG mutagenesis of Zoogloea ramigera 115SLR. Mutant candidates were classfied with five groups based on the observed characteristics for EPS biosynthesis pattern. The recombinant plasmids pLEX3BS and pLEX3BM were constructed from pEX3B which was previously isolated from genomic DNA of Z. ramigera 115SLR. Plasmid pLEX3BM with a 7.8 kb insert DNA contains an additional 1.8kb DNA fragment which is not present in pLEX3BS containing 13 kb insert DNA. Plasmid pLEX3BM was able to complement the mutation responsible for the changes in morphology of Z. ramigera 115SLR. However, the complementation of EPS negative mutant strains was not successful with pLEX3BM. Plasmid pLEX3BS on the other hand complemented the mutation responsible for the loss of EPS biosynthesis, resulting in the restoration of Z. ramigera 115SLR phenotype. But this plasmid was not able to complement the morphological mutant strain, Z. ramigera 115SLR.

Power Consumption Analysis of the Wibro System Using Pilot Control of Uplink Symbol (상향링크 Symbol의 Pilot 제어를 적용한 Wibro 시스템의 전력소비량 분석)

  • In this paper, proposed the method to increase the battery life of the Wibro terminal by reducing its power consumption. The amount of power consumption was analysed. And as the results, it is shown that the suggested method can be reduced the power consumption. The performance of the proposed system, which control the number of pilot of symbol, analysed by the simulation. It is shown that the power consumption of the terminal can be reduced by the reduction of the CINR for the percentage of pilot per symbol, as 0.48dBm for 10% and 0.95dBm for 20%, which can be accomplished by changing the current system of having the fixed number of pilot.

A 41dB Gain Control Range 6th-Order Band-Pass Receiver Front-End Using CMOS Switched FTI

  • A 41dB gain control range $6^{th}$-order band-pass receiver front-end (RFE) using CMOS switched frequency translated impedance (FTI) is presented in a 40 nm CMOS technology. The RFE consists of a frequency tunable RF band-pass filter (BPF), IQ gm cells, and IQ TIAs. The RF BPF has wide gain control range preserving constant filter Q and pass band flatness due to proposed pre-distortion scheme. Also, the RF filter using CMOS switches in FTI blocks shows low clock leakage to signal nodes, and results in low common mode noise and stable operation. The baseband IQ signals are generated by combining baseband Gm cells which receives 8-phase signal outputs down-converted at last stage of FTIs in the RF BPF. The measured results of the RFE show 36.4 dB gain and 6.3 dB NF at maximum gain mode. The pass-band IIP3 and out-band IIP3@20 MHz offset are -10 dBm and +12.6 dBm at maximum gain mode, and +14 dBm and +20.5 dBm at minimum gain mode, respectively. With a 1.2 V power supply, the current consumption of the overall RFE is 40 mA at 500 MHz carrier frequency.
