Sliding-Mode Control of Container Cranes (컨테이너크레인 시스템의 슬라이딩모드제어)

  • In this paper, as an anti-sway control strategy of container cranes, we investigate a variable structure control in which the moving load follows a given trajectory, whereas both the trolley and hoist controllers achieve their positioning problems. It is crucial, in an automated container terminal, that collisions should be avoided during the transference of containers from one place to another. It is also necessary, in the case of a quay crane, to select suitable loading and unloading trajectories of containers, so that possible collisions with surrounding obstacles are avoided. After a brief introduction of the mathematical model, a robust control scheme (i.e., a second-order sliding mode control that guarantees a fast and precise transference and a suppression of the resulted swing) is presented. Despite model uncertainties and unmodeled actuators dynamics, the swing suppression from the given trajectory is obtained by constraining the system motion on suitable sliding surfaces, which include both the desired path and the swing angle. The proposed controller has been tested with a laboratory-size pilot crane. Experimental results are provided.

Effects of Proportion of Roughages and Concentrates on Growth and Carcass Characteristics of Hanwoo Steers (조사료와 농후사료의 급여비율이 한우 거세우의 성장 및 도체특성에 미치는 영향)

  • This experiment was carried out to investigate the effects of proportion of concentrates and roughages on growth and carcass traits of Hanwoo steers. Concentrates and roughages were allotted three levels of 35 to 11%, 44 to 12% and 53 to 13%, respectively from the growing period to finishing period. Concentrate and roughage intake of Hanwoo steers were increased progressively until body weight reached 450kg and 300kg, respectively and reached 1.8 to 1.9% and 1.04 to 1.44% to body weight, respectively but thereafter were decreased gradually. Marbling score and beef grade were tended to be increased when steers were fed 44% roughage compared with the steers fed 35% or 53% at the growing period. Therefore, it can be concluded that feeding 44% of roughage is desirable rather than feeding 35% or 53% of roughage when steers are fattening.

  • In order to study the genetic system of the blast resistant varieties, the conidial suspension of mutant races of T-2$^{+t}$, N-2$^{+t}$, C-8$^{+t}$ was inoculated at 4-5 leaf stage by injector for F_2 seedlings from the crosses between seven resistant varieties and four maker lines easily detectable at seedling stage. The results are summarized as follows; 1. The fertility of cross between Semi-dwaf testers and Indica resistant varieties except Carreon was about 74 percents. 2. The segregation modes of resistance varied with varieties and blast races. However, the resistance was expressed as dominance in all cases. Tetep, Tadukan and Carreon showed more complicated segregation for resistance than that of the bred lines. 3. For blast races used, four segregation ratios such as 3:1, 9:7, 13:3 and 37:27 were found in the Tatukan, Tetep, and IR747, and three segregation ratios such as 3:1, 13:3 and 15:1 in the Carreon, and two segregation ratios of 3:1 and 13:3 with Suweon 287, Suweon 288, and Iri342. 4. In the segregation of the resistance to the each races, the ratios of 3:1, 13:3, 15:1 were fitted to T-2$^{+t}$, and the ratios of 3:1, 13:3, 9:7 and 37:27 to N-2$^{+t}$ and C-8$^{+t}$. 5. Suweon 287, Suweon 288 and Iri342 carried one simple dominant gene and inhibitor gene was considered in some cross combinations. Meanwhile Tadukan, Tetep and IR747 seemed to carry one to three resistant genes, and in some cross combinations, the expression of these genes were simple dominant, inhibiting, duplicating and complimentary action. 6. Resistance genes to blast races, T-2$^{+t}$, N-2$^{+t}$ and C-8$^{+t}$ in the Tadukan, Tetep, Carreon, Suweon 287, Suweon 288 and Iri342 were found to be independent with the linkage group of II(lg), VIII(la), XI(bc), and XII(gl).bc), and XII(gl).

The Experimental Study on Cooling-Heating System Using Thermoelectric Module and Parallel Flow Type Oscillating Heat Pipe (열전소자와 PF Type 진동형 히트파이프를 이용한 냉.난방기에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop a cooler/heater using a thermoelectric module combined with a parallel flow type oscillating heat pipe with R-142b as a work ing fluid. The experiment was performed for 16 thermoelectric modules (6 A/15 V, size: 40${\times}$40${\times}$4 mm), varying design parameters of the heat pipe (inclination angle, working fluid charging ratio, etc) . Experimental results indicate that the optimum charging ratio and the inclination angle of the parallel flow type oscillating heat pipe were 30% by volume and 30%, respectively. The maximum cooler/heater capacity were 479W (COP : 0.47) and 630W (COP : 0.9), respectively.

  • We developed a 0.1-㎛ metamorphic high electron mobility transistor and fabricated a W-band monolithic microwave integrated circuit chipset with our in-house technology to verify the performance and usability of the developed technology. The DC characteristics were a drain current density of 747 mA/mm and a maximum transconductance of 1.354 S/mm; the RF characteristics were a cutoff frequency of 210 GHz and a maximum oscillation frequency of 252 GHz. A frequency multiplier was developed to increase the frequency of the input signal. The fabricated multiplier showed high output values (more than 0 dBm) in the 94 GHz-108 GHz band and achieved excellent spurious suppression. A low-noise amplifier (LNA) with a four-stage single-ended architecture using a common-source stage was also developed. This LNA achieved a gain of 20 dB in a band between 83 GHz and 110 GHz and a noise figure lower than 3.8 dB with a frequency of 94 GHz. A W-band image-rejection mixer (IRM) with an external off-chip coupler was also designed. The IRM provided a conversion gain of 13 dB-17 dB for RF frequencies of 80 GHz-110 GHz and image-rejection ratios of 17 dB-19 dB for RF frequencies of 93 GHz-100 GHz.

  • Hybrid plasmid pEA24, shuttle vector YRp7 carrying amylase gene of Bacillus amyloliquefaciens, was transformed to yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae, and the expression of B. amyloliquefaciens amylase gene in yeast was investigated. The frequency of transformation to S. cerevisiae DBY747 with YRp7 was increased by treatment of 40% polyethylene glycol (MW 4, 000), PH 7.0, at 3$0^{\circ}C$, and by regeneration used 2% top agar. The amount of cellular amylase activity produced by S. cerevisiae containing pEA24 was 2% of that secreted from B. amyloliquefaciens, but in case of S. cerevisiae transformant, the amylase secreted was not detected. A comparison of genetic stability of pEA24 and YRp7 plasmids in yeast was carried out by cultivation of transformants in tryptophan-supplement-medium. The pEA24 plasmid was more unstable than YRp7 in S. cerevisiae. The size of pEA24 extracted from S. cerevisiae transformants was found to be identical with that from E. coli transformants by agarose gel electrophoresis.

A Clinical Study on Binaural Hearing Aid (양이 보청효과에 관한 연구)

  • Monaural and binaural hearing aid performance under quiet and noisy conditions were compared in regard to (1) the degree of hearing impairment, (2) the symmetry of pure tone audiogram, (3) the automatic gain control of the hearing aid. (4) hearing impairement with recruitment and, word discrimination ability. Performance using binaural hearing aids was consistently superior to that using monaural hearing aids. The results were as follows. 1. Speech detection thresholds were enhanced by a mean of 4.25dB when tested with danavox 747 PP stereo type hearing aid and by a mean of 4.12 dB when tested hearing aids connected seperately to the right and left ears. 2. Binaurally tested speech reception thresholds were superior to monaurally tested thresholds by a mean of 3.56dB when tested in quiet and by a mean of 5.56dB when tested in noise. 3. Binaurally tested word discrimination scores were also superior by a mean of 17.09% in quiet and by a mean 19.63% in noise. 4. Both SRT and word discrimination scores were performed best by subjects with moderately-severe impairement. The performance by one mildly impaired subject was the poorest of all performances. The levels of performance order were; moderately-severe loss, severe loss. moderate loss and mild loss. 5. The data obtained using AGC aids when compaired with that of linear amplification show that when AGC aids were worn in both ears. the results were very poor but when one AGC aid was worn in one ear and linear amplification in the other. the results were good. 6. The advantages of binaural hearing aids were obvious even in cases 1) with great diferences in hearing thresholds between right and left ears, 2) when the subject was unable to discriminate words without vision and. 3) when the subject had extreme recruitme t phenomenon.

Economic Evaluation of Integrated Operation & Management through Operation Performance Analysis of Sewage Facilities (하수도시설 통합운영 성과분석을 통한 통합운영관리의 경제성 평가)

  • For economic evaluation of integrated operation to sewage facilities, benefit-cost analysis was performed to watershed sewage works project in 7 watershed areas, 156 facilities. In this study, the cost before and after integrated operation was compared and benefits are calculated from the reduction of operators, increasement treated pollution loads, reduction cost through operation convenience, reduction water consumption through effluent reuse, and improvement of life benefit. The result showed that cost was 8,500million won and benefit was 16,747million won, so benefit was 49% higher than cost. B/C analysis result showed that B/C ratio was 1.97 and it is similar to other researches. The benefits of integrated operation included convenience of data management, increase of emergency response, decrease of complains with sewage which was not reflected numerically, so the benefits of integrated operation were expected much greater than this result

Numerical Study of Natural Convection in a Square Enclosure with an Inner Circular Cylinder for Rayleigh Number of 107 (107의 Rayleigh 수에서 원형 실린더가 존재하는 사각형 실린더 내부의 자연대류에 관한 수치적 연구)

  • Numerical calculations are carried out for evaluating the natural convection induced by the temperature difference between a hot inner circular cylinder and a cold outer square enclosure. A two-dimensional solution for unsteady natural convection is obtained by using the finite volume method to model an inner circular cylinder that was designed by using the immersed boundary method (IBM) for a Rayleigh number of $10^7$. In this study, we investigate the effect of the location ($\delta$) of the inner cylinder, which is located along the vertical central axis of the outer enclosure, on the heat transfer and fluid flow. The natural convection changes from unsteady to steady state depending on the $\delta$. The two critical lower bound and upper bound positions are ${\delta}_{C,L}$ = 0.05 and ${\delta}_{C,U}$ = 0.18, respectively. Within these defined bounds, the thermal and flow fields are in steady state.

Design of a Predistorter with Multiple Coefficient Sets for the Millimeter-Wave Power Amplifier and Nonlinearity Elimination Performance Evaluation (다중계수 방식을 적용한 밀리미터파 대역용 전력증폭기의 사전왜곡기 설계 및 비선형성 보상 성능 평가)

  • Recently, mobile communication systems using the millimeter-wave frequency band have been proposed, and the importance of efficient compensation of the nonlinearity caused by 60 GHz high-power amplifiers(HPAs) is increasing. In this paper, we propose a predistorter structure based on multiple coefficient sets which are separately used to different ranges of input power values. These ranges correspond to varying levels of nonlinearity characteristics. The structure is applied to the 60 GHz HPA FMM5715X and the performance of correcting the nonlinearity of LTE signals is evaluated. Evaluation results using a hardware testbed demonstrate that the proposed predistorter structure achieves the maximum of 6 dB gain over the conventional method in terms of the adjacent channel leakage ratio(ACLR).
