  • This study investigates Ag coated $Cu_2O$ nanoparticles that are produced with a changing molar ratio of Ag and $Cu_2O$. The results of XRD analysis reveal that each nanoparticle has a diffraction pattern peculiar to Ag and $Cu_2O$ determination, and SEM image analysis confirms that Ag is partially coated on the surface of $Cu_2O$ nanoparticles. The conductive paste with Ag coated $Cu_2O$ nanoparticles approaches the specific resistance of $6.4{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$ for silver paste(SP) as $(Ag)/(Cu_2O)$ the molar ratio increases. The paste(containing 70 % content and average a 100 nm particle size for the silver nanoparticles) for commercial use for mounting with a fine line width of $100{\mu}m$ or less has a surface resistance of 5 to $20{\mu}{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$, while in this research an Ag coated $Cu_2O$ paste has a larger surface resistance, which is disadvantageous. Its performance deteriorates as a material required for application of a fine line width electrode for a touch panel. A touch panel module that utilizes a nano imprinting technique of $10{\mu}m$ or less is expected to be used as an electrode material for electric and electronic parts where large precision(mounting with fine line width) is not required.

  • Background: Sexual dimorphism is important for sex determination in the field of forensics. However, sexual dimorphism is commonly assessed using cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) rather than three-dimensional (3D) modeling software; therefore, studies using a more accurate measurement approach are necessary. This study assessed the sexual dimorphism of the MS using a 3D modeling program to obtain information that could contribute to the fields of surgery and forensics. Methods: The CBCT data of 60 patients (age, 20~29 y; 30 males and 30 females) admitted to the Department of Orthodontics at the Dankook University School of Dentistry were provided in Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) format. The left MS and right MS were modeled based on the DICOM files using the Mimics (version 22; Materialise, Leuven, Belgium) 3D program and converted to stereolithography (STL) files used to measure the width, length, and height of the MS, infraorbital foramen (IOF), right MS, and left MS. The average of three repeated measurements was calculated, and a reliability test was performed to ensure data reliability (Cronbach's α=0.618). A canonical discriminant analysis was performed using a standard approach (left: Box's M=0.096; right: Box's M=0.115). Results: Males had greater values for all parameters (MS width, MS length, MS height, IOF, right MS, left MS) than females. The discriminant analysis identified six independent variables (MS width, MS height, MS length, IOF, right MS, left MS) that could identify sex. The left MS and right MS correctly identified the sex of 81.7% and 71.7% of the patients, respectively, with the left MS having higher accuracy. Conclusion: This study confirmed that, for Korean individuals, the left MS has a better ability to identify sex than the right MS. These results may contribute to sex identification in the fields of surgery and forensics.

  • Objective: This study aimed to assess the genetic parameters and accuracy of genomic predictions for twenty-four linear body conformation traits and overall conformation scores in Korean Holstein dairy cows. Methods: A dataset of 2,206 Korean Holsteins was collected, and genotyping was performed using the Illumina Bovine 50K single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) chip. The traits investigated included body traits (stature, height at front end, chest width, body depth, angularity, body condition score, and locomotion), rump traits (rump angle, rump width, and loin strength), feet and leg traits (rear leg set, rear leg rear view, foot angle, heel depth, and bone quality), udder traits (udder depth, udder texture, udder support, fore udder attachment, front teat placement, front teat length, rear udder height, rear udder width, and rear teat placement), and overall conformation score. Accuracy of genomic predictions was assessed using the single-trait animal model genomic best linear unbiased prediction method implemented in the ASReml-SA v4.2 software. Results: Heritability estimates ranged from 0.10 to 0.50 for body traits, 0.21 to 0.35 for rump traits, 0.13 to 0.29 for feet and leg traits, and 0.05 to 0.46 for udder traits. Rump traits exhibited the highest average heritability (0.29), while feet and leg traits had the lowest estimates (0.21). Accuracy of genomic predictions varied among the twenty-four linear body conformation traits, ranging from 0.26 to 0.49. The heritability and prediction accuracy of genomic estimated breeding value (GEBV) for the overall conformation score were 0.45 and 0.46, respectively. The GEBVs for body conformation traits in Korean Holstein cows had low accuracy, falling below the 50% threshold. Conclusion: The limited response to selection for body conformation traits in Korean Holsteins may be attributed to both the low heritability of these traits and the lower accuracy estimates for GEBVs. Further research is needed to enhance the accuracy of GEBVs and improve the selection response for these traits.

  • The size distribution, maturation, and molting stages of the snow crab Chionoecetes opilio in the coastal sea of Gyeongbuk were investigated to understand its monthly and bathymetric occurrence patterns. C. opilio was collected from three depth strata (A1, 100-120 m; A2, 120-180 m; A3, 180-220 m) from May to November 2020. The average sex ratio was 0.8. The mean carapace width was largest in females in October, and in males in November. The occurrence rate of small immature crabs was the highest in A1. The ratio of ovigerous females at 75-80 mm was highest at A2 and A3. There was a significant difference in carapace width in females and depth in both sexes in September and October. The occurrence rate of immature crabs was the highest in A1, whereas that ovigerous and spawned females was higher in A2 and A3 than in A1. Very old-shelled females occurred highly in September and October. The occurrence rate of newly shelled males was higher throughout the study period. This research indicated that the size distribution, maturation conditions, and molting stages of C. opilio varied with water depth strata in the coastal sea of Gyeongbuk, Korea.

  • Experimental study has been performed in order to construct the standard test methods and appraisal criteria by investigating the influence of specimen types(property, width, layers) and loading rate on the tensile characteristics of FRP used in strengthening RC structures. The FRP composite tested in this study are the unidirectional CFRP sheet/strip and the bidirectional GFRP sheet. Test variables consist of the various width ranging from 10mm to 25mm and number of CFRP sheets plied up to 5 layers. Test results indicated that maximum tensile strength and minimum coefficient of variation are recorded at each different width according to the fiber types and weaving directions. Also, the average tensile strengths of CFRP sheets are decreased as the number of layer of CFRP sheet are increased.

  • This study was carried out to investigate the quarrying and restoration characteristics on quarry in Korea. We researched quarrying and restoration status, analyzed the relationship between restoration area and permitted period, permitted area, quarrying volume, pit slope width, height, and berm width from 55 quarry sites. Most of the quarries were located in the following conditions : mixed forest, average altitude of less than 300 m, average mountain slope of $61^{\circ}$<, hillside, granite and landslide hazard class. Major quarrying characteristics were permitted period of 6~10 years, permitted area of less than 10 ha, quarrying volume of less than $1,000,000m^3$, a stone type of aggregate, a quarrying type of terrace, pit slope of $61^{\circ}$< Most quarries were restored by themselves, and the main restoration type was slope greening. Also, area ratio of flatland, pit slope, and berm was 54.9:39.6:5.5. Ccorrelation analysis showed that quarrying area was positively correlate with quarrying volume (${\alpha}=0.01$), permitted area, pit width, and pit height (a=0.05).

  • Purpose : To evaluate the morphologic measurement and microvasculature of the normal human meniscus in Korean and to compare the difference of microvasculature according to the age and anatomical location. Materials and methods : Menisci of 21 cadavers divided into 3 groups according to the age. Each meniscus was divided into 10 parts of which the width and area of microvasculature were measured. Results : The average width of the medial and lateral menisci were $10.49{\pm}02.92mm$ and $10.55{\pm}2.05mm$, respectively. The average area of the microvasculature measured $20.29{\pm}8.44\%$ in the medial meniscus and $18.99{\pm}7.03\%$ in the lateral meniscus. The microvasculature of the medial meniscus was most abundant in the anterior horn and least abundant in the posterior horn (p<0.05). The lateral meniscus showed the most vessels in the posterior horn (p<0.05). The microvasculature of popliteal hiatus was not avascular but hypovascular. The area of microvasculature decreased with increasing age in all parts of the medial meniscus and body and posterior horn of the lateral meniscus (p<0.05). Conclusion : Differences in the anatomical distribution of the vessels were noted of both the medial and lateral menisci. The area of microvasculature generally decreased proportionally with increasing age in both medial and lateral meniscus.

  • Purpose: A lower facial contouring surgery has become a commonly performed procedure in Asia. Currently, mandibular angle sagittal ostectomy and botulinum toxin type A treatment are main procedures for aesthetic correction of a broad lower face. There are a few date to show the differences in the mandibular contouring changes between mandibular angle splitting ostectomy and botulinum toxin type A treatment. Facial golden mask is easy to apply, inexpensive, and relatively objective for evaluation of facial contour analysis. This study was designed specifically to compare the changes in lower face width after two different forms of lower facial contouring procedure using facial golden mask. Methods: Seventeen patients, aged 18 to 55 years (mean, 28.6 years), 15 women and 2 men, consented to the study and receive a contouring procedure of lower face. The patients were classified in to 2 groups. In group A, the sample consisted of 10 patients with a prominent squared mandibular angle and mandibular angle splitting ostectomy was performed. In group B, the sample consisted of 7 patients with masseteric hypertrophy and botulinum toxin type A treatment was performed. Photographs of the face were taken to record the facial change at preoperative and postoperative. The postoperative photographs were taken to considered maximal effect at 2 years after surgery in group A and 4.8 months after treatment in group B. The authors applied the facial golden mask to preoperative and postoperative photographs and horizontal ratio, which compares facial width with golden mask width, were calculated. We made an analysis of the result of horizontal ratio using SPSS. Results: Overall average horizontal ratio of pre- and postoperative photos of group A were 1.24 and 1.11, whereas overall average horizontal ratio of pre- and postoperative photos of group B were 1.19 and 1.12. The horizontal ratio decreased 10.24% in group A and 5.93% in group B. There was a statistically significant change in before and after treatment, but there was no significant change in comparing the group A and group B. Conclusions: The result from this study suggest that mandibular angle sagittal ostectomy and botulinum toxin type A treatment showed relatively satisfactory clinical effects on lower facial contouring treatment. There was no statistical significant difference within two lower facial contouring treatment. Facial golden mask is easy to apply, inexpensive, and relatively objective, so we think that facial golden mask is a good method for evaluation of lower facial contouring treatment.

  • This study aims to classify lower trunk body types of Chinese men in their middle age (30s and 40s) and suggest the standard for them to design slacks pattern. Mollison's relation deviations were used to analyze the direct measurement items in this research compared to those of Size Korea 2004. Though Korean middle-aged men were higher in most items than Chinese counterparts, all items except mid-thigh circumference and side hip length were merely within the range of ${\pm}1\sigma$. According to the results of size classification by absolute values, factor analysis extracted to 2 factors(horizontal size of lower body and vertical size of lower body), and cluster analysis brought about 3 types(type1: tall and thin trunk (36.9%), type 2 : normal height and thick trunk(45.5%), and type 3 : short and normal trunk(17.6%) with some significant differences among them. Also, the results of shape classification by index values, they were extracted 4 factors (waist-hip flatness, waist-hip cross section, vertical waist-groin and hip-surface length) by factor analysis and revealed 3 types(type 1: different waist-hip width, thick, long waist, long upper hip, and short hip-surface length(27.8%), type 2 : different waist-hip width, flat, short upper hip, high hip and groin, and average hip-surface length(29.4%), and type 3: small waist-hip width, thick, average upper hip, and short hip-surface length (42.8%)) with significant differences among them by cluster analysis. The results of standard body types by shape-size combination, 19subjects(10.16%) under these values are regarded as standard body types. Significance was not seen in all items in the t-test results between the total group and the standard group. The latter had lower variation coefficients and smaller individual differences than the former. However, in-depth research is required for generalization since this research is limited to a small number of subjects in Ningbo of Zhejiang.

  • Measurements were made on morphology of each developmental stages of the chestnut weevil, Curculio sikkimensis, reared in the laboratory and field from 2003 to 2006. The size of egg was 0.8${\pm}$0.03 mm. The escaping larvae were measured, in average, as 98 mg in body weight, 10.65 and 3.99 mm in body length and width, and 1.70 mm in head width. Pupal size of female and male was 7.01 and 6.53 mm, respectively. The fresh weight (0.343 g), body length (7.76 mm) and width (3.38 mm), and head width (1.60 mm) of female adults were significantly bigger than those (0.268 g, 7.14 mm, 3.01 mm and 1.37 mm, respectively) of male adults. Proboscis length (6.53 mm) and antennal length (5.47 mm) of female was also significantly longer than those (3.56 and 4.63 mm, respectively) of male. The larvae of C. sikkimensis overwintered for 1~3 years and their body weight, body length, and body width were decreased. The ratio between proboscis length and body length, the basipodite position attached to the proboscis, and shape of the sex organ on the abdominal end could be used to discriminate sexes.
