RPS Periodic Testing Method for Reliability and Availability (신뢰성과 유지보수를 위한 원자로보호계통 주기시험 방법 개발)

  • The digital systems such as PLC or DCS have been applied to non-safety systems of nuclear power plants because of many difficulties in using analog systems. Nowadays, digital systems have been applied to safety systems of the plants such as reactor protection system. One of the main advantages of digital systems is applicability of automatic testing methods to the systems. The protection system requires high-reliability and high-availability because it shall minimize the propagation of abnormal or accident conditions of nuclear power plants. The calculation of reliability and availability of systems depends on the maintenance period of the system. In general, the maintenance period of the protection system is one-month in case of the manual test. However, the cycle of test can be shortened in several hours by using automatic periodic testing. The reliability and availability of the system is better when test period is shortened because the reliability and availability is inverse proportion to the test period. In this research, we developed the automatic periodic testing method for KNICS Reactor Protection System, which can test the system automatically without an operator or a tester. The automatic testing contained all functions of reaction protection systems from analog-to-digital conversion function of the bistable Processor to the coincident trip function of the coincident processor. By applying the automatic periodic testing to reaction system, the maintenance cost can be cut down and the reliability can be increased.

  • Testing tools help software developers and test engineers to automate a part or the whole of test process and reduce the time and cost of software test. However. no automatic tools meet a variety of test requirements with various domains In this paper, we suggest a categorical taxonomy of automatic testing tools and analyze numerous commercial testing tools on its basis. Then we propose a development roadmap of software automatic testing tools. As a result of those analysis. we try to understand the complementary relations of the testing tools and seek for the direction of further development of the testing tools.

  • According to the generalization of mobile device use in our life, the complexity and diversity of mobile applications are increased, and thus the importance of application test to find faults and errors quickly and easily before release grows. This paper reviews the current automatic testing methodologies for mobile device applications and their element technologies. Also, well-known commercial tools for automatic testing are surveyed and case studies of their recent industry applications in domestic and foreign countries are performed.

  • Downhole seismic method is very economic and easy to operate because it uses only one borehole and simple surface source to obtain the shear wave velocity profile of a site. In this study, automatic shear wave source was developed for efficient downhole seismic testing. This source is motor-spring type and easy to control. It can lessen the labor of operator and the working time. Moreover, it can provide better and repetitive signals for data interpretation. By combining developed automatic source with automatic receiver system, PC based data acquisition system, advanced managing program, and semi-automatic downhole performing system were constructed. Through comparison test with manual source, advantages of automatic source were verified. Constructed semi-automatic downhole testing system including automatic shear wave source was applied to the soft soil site. The applicability and reliability were verified and the importance of automating testing system for obtaining reliable result was emphasized.

  • The objective of this paper is to provide an automatic color image testing system capable of synthetically testing a color element like a color tone and a luminance for a color image displayed on the screen, using a CCD camera and a microprocess. The system consists of a CCD camera, a line conveyor, a camera driving part, a remocon, a remote sensing part, a display and a PC including a color vision board and a CPU board. By applying the system to a process, reliability for a testing result can be improved and the absolute criterion to judge a part can be made.

  • The automatic/driverless operation which are great important techniques in metro railway are required to increase higher safety, greater reliability, and transport capacity. To satisfy such demands, we must have the system design and testing technique for the railway system operation. These techniques are related to the onboard train control and communication systems which include TCMS(Train Control and Monitoring System), ATO(Automatic Train Operation), ATC(Automatic Train Control), and TWC(Train to Wayside Communication). These sub-systems must be interfacing with not only each others but also the signal system on the ground. We tested the train control system on Test line that has been developed on the basis of the standardized type EMU for korea railway systems. This test line which is located in Sangju, have been constructed for testing 7 & 8 line of Seoul Metro railway.

  • Heatcycle testing for aluminum connector is very important. But because of connecting or disconnecting the test circuit, measuring resistance is difficult. Also the previous measuring resistance instrument is analog type. So measuring method is difficult. And four measuring points for one test circuit cause difficulty in automation. In this paper we developed the automatic system for measuring resistance. Automation will allow more information to be gathered, which will lead to the connector aging process being better understood and controlled.

A Practical Intent Fuzzing Tool for Robustness of Inter-Component Communication in Android Apps

  • This research aims at a new practical Intent fuzzing tool for detecting Intent vulnerabilities of Android apps causing the robustness problem. We proposed two new ideas. First, we designed an Intent specification language to describe the structure of Intent, which makes our Intent fuzz testing tool flexible. Second, we proposed an automatic tally method classifying unique failures. With the two ideas, we implemented an Intent fuzz testing tool called Hwacha, and evaluated it with 50 commercial Android apps. Our tool offers an arbitrary combination of automatic and manual Intent generators with executors such as ADB and JUnit due to the use of the Intent specification language. The automatic tally method excluded almost 80% of duplicate failures in our experiment, reducing efforts of testers very much in review of failures. The tool uncovered more than 400 unique failures including what is unknown so far. We also measured execution time for Intent fuzz testing, which has been rarely reported before. Our tool is practical because the whole procedure of fuzz testing is fully automatic and the tool is applicable to the large number of Android apps with no human intervention.

  • Multi-site testing is considered as a solution to reduce test costs. This paper presents a new channel sharing architecture that enables I/O pins to share automatic test equipment (ATE) channels using simple circuitry such as tri-state buffers, AND gates, and multiple-input signature registers (MISR). The main advantage of the proposed architecture is that it is implemented on probe cards and does not require any additional circuitry on a target device under test (DUT). In addition, the proposed architecture can perform DC parametric testing of the DUT such as leakage testing, even if the different DUTs share the same ATE channels. The simulation results show that the proposed architecture is very efficient and is applicable to both wafer testing and package testing.
