  • 인공지능 기술은 4차 산업혁명의 핵심적인 기술로써 현재 활발한 연구 개발이 진행되고 있으며, 다양한 산업에 목되고 있다. 4차 산업혁명의 핵심기술인 가상 및 증강현실 기술을 활용해 침체된 재래시장에 활력을 불어넣기 위한 프로젝트이다. 업계표준 3D 영상 프로그램인 마야와 실시간 렌더엔진 Unity를 활용하여 VR 가상환경을 구축한다. VR기기를 착용하여 청주의 명물 '육거리시장'을 체험하며, 비대면 코로나로 인한 현장 체험의 한계를 극복할 수 있는 대안을 마련한다.

  • The recent development in multimedia technology such as audio technology needs high quality audio system. Especially, Real Audio Technology is to be developed to play realistic sound. To meet this demands, researches on 3-Dimensional Audio which provides realistic audio effect in virtual reality and augmented reality are conducted. In this paper, how to provide realistic audio effect by using better audio technologies in augmented reality was investigated. In the study, the movements of the 3-Dimensional model on the markers were used to provide the sense of reality in virtual and real world. Namely, the sound was modified according to the movement of the model. The change in distance and angle of the model affected the sound volume and the pitch.

  • In this paper, we propose an information service system using augmented reality technology on mobile devices. With the advancement in ICT technology the computer is smaller and easy to carry and developed into the tablet PC and the smartphone typically. The user can confirm and learn the desired data using the augmented reality technology, regardless of the environment. Padding the supplementary images or videos to the real image using the camera, we can have help from such additionally obtained images. In this paper, using an augmented reality technology on a tablet PC or smartphone environment, we implement a system for providing information to the user. This system can be utilized in all areas such as learning, entertainment, public relations and advertisement, etc.

  • This paper is a study on map contents to be embedded in a new type of mobile device that combines 2D information and 3D information by combining 2D information with augmented reality technology. We also describe the planning and production of a 3D map application called 'NSU AR Map' using Unity3D engine to help understand this paper. 'NSU AR Map' is a map application that enables accurate identification of user's location and real-world view through 360 View. Based on the experience gained during the process of 3D map application, this paper will present how 3D technologies and augmented reality technologies are applied to new map applications and how they can be developed in the future.

  • Recently augmented reality technology has been researched to view the virtual shape of buildings before construction or cultural heritages under recovery. Those researches used special devices or markers that are not applicable in long distanced outdoor environment. Also the server had to compute a lot of transformations for the location changes of virtual objects. This paper proposed a mobile augmented reality system that uses GPS and accelerometer sensors in order to compute the virtual object's locations without using markers. The server determines the position and orientation by comparing the GPS data obtained from the client with the predefined 3D object informations in the server. If the server sends the virtual object informations such as the position, orientation and matching information, then the client matches the virtual object on the screen of mobile camera phone. In addition, the client computes the transformations of location change detected by the accelerometer derived from the user's movement without additional connection to the server.

  • Using these systems, additional information on the paintings and exhibits may be provided in the forms of text, image, speech, and video However, at museums and exhibitions, many tourists are often interested in exhibits of some particular style, authors, or coteries. The proposed Augmented Reality based guidance system may guide the users to exhibits of their interest for selective viewing. Location of the next exhibit of interest may be informed to the users as well as additional multimedia information on the exhibits of interest Such information is shown on the Augmented Reality views of the user's display device. The proposed system is composed an Ultra-Mobile PC (UMPC), an inertia tracker, and a camera. In the beginning, the user may select his/her preference on the exhibits from the menu, and then the system starts guiding by showing the relative orientation, distance, and visual cue to find a next exhibit. When the user finds and locates the matching visual cue within a matching box of the display screen, the system provides multimedia information on the exhibit. According to the preliminary user test, the proposed system is convenient and useful for navigating through large-scale exhibition.

  • Applications which are implemented on Table Top Display are controlled by hands, so that they support an intuitive interface to users. Users feel the real sense when they interact on the virtual scene in Table Top Display. However, most of conventional augmented reality applications on Table Top Display satisfy only visual sense. In this paper, we propose an interface that supports multi-modal sense in that tactile sense is utilized for augment reality by vibrating a physical control unit when it collides to virtual objects. Users can feel the collision in addition to visual scene. The proposed system facilitates tactile augmented reality through an air hockey game. A physical control unit vibrates when it receives virtual collision data over wireless communication. Since the use of tabletop display environment is extended with a tactile sense based physical unit other than hand, it provides a more intuitive interface.

  • Purchase of clothes has recently picked up pace at mobile fashion shopping malls. One of the biggest weak points is that consumers can't coordinate clothes. Since individuals increasingly want to make coordination, a fashion coordination system to satisfy the demand should be developed. As the technology of digital clothing which is about reproducing dresses using computer graphic has been activated in the fashion industry, many changes in consumers' life patterns and interests in fashion shopping malls are taking place. Some consumers are increasingly more keenly interested in shopping on the Internet and Smart phones than in offline stores. This study was conducted to understand production of iPhone-based augmented reality fashion fitting contents which is suitable for Koreans' body shape. This system is about designing and materializing UI(User Interface), an augmented reality fitting system, so that users can confirm if they look nice with those fashion items using Smart phones. A new fashion shopping method satisfying user convenience was suggested using the materialized system.

Fingertip Extraction and Hand Motion Recognition Method for Augmented Reality Applications (증강현실 응용을 위한 손 끝점 추출과 손 동작 인식 기법)

  • In this paper, we propose fingertip extraction and hand motion recognition method for augmented reality applications. First, an input image is transformed into HSV color space from RGB color space. A hand area is segmented using double thresholding of H, S value, region growing, and connected component analysis. Next, the end points of the index finger and thumb are extracted using morphology operation and subtraction for a virtual keyboard and mouse interface. Finally, the angle between the end points of the index finger and thumb with respect to the center of mass point of the palm is calculated to detect the touch between the index finger and thumb for implementing the click of a mouse button. Experimental results on various input images showed that our method segments the hand, fingertips, and recognizes the movements of the hand fast and accurately. Proposed methods can be used the input interface for augmented reality applications.

A Situational Training System based on Augmented Reality for Developmentally Disabled People (발달 장애인을 위한 증강현실 기반 상황훈련 시스템)

  • Nowadays, many interface devices or training systems have been developed with recent developments in IT technology but only a few training systems for developmentally disabled people have been introduced. In this paper, we present a real-time, interactional and situational training system based on augmented reality in order to improve cognitive capability and adaptive ability in the daily life of developmentally disabled people. Our system is specifically based on serving food in restaurants. This augmented reality based system provides them to experience various different situations safely and take the training session as much as they want under any circumstances. When they use our system, they are able to look around with Head Mounted Display(HMD) and take training sessions easily based on various situational scenarios. After experimenting on our system for 3 months, we found they had no aversion about wearing HMD and learned quicker as they practiced over and over and improved their cognitive capability and adaptive ability. We also got a positive feedback that it had an excellent educational value from teachers in special-education-school.
