The purposes of this study were to evaluate and compare the pulpal anesthesia induced by an inferior alveolar nerve block and that by Gow-Gates technique, and to investigate the relationship between pulpal anesthesia and intraoral soft tissue responses. After one side of mandibule was anesthetized with inferior alveolar nerve block or Gow-Gates technique using 2 % lidocaine with 1 : 100,000 epinephrine in 19 volunteers of ages between 24 and 29 (16 males and 3 females, average age 25.9 yrs.), electric pulp tests were done on the canine teeth of the anesthetized side and contralateral one before, at 1 min, continued at every 5 minutes until 60 min, and every 10 minutes until 100 min after completion of local anesthetic injection. Degree of pulpal anesthesia was classified as anesthetic failure, possible anesthesia and complete anesthesia by the criteria based on the thresholds to electric pulp test of contralateral canine and the currents of the electric pulp tester. Subjective signs on the lower lip and tongue were checked and prick-pin tests were done on the buccal gingiva of the first molar, buccal and lingual gingiva of the canine tooth at 5, 10 and 20 min after the completion of anesthetic injection. Thresholds to electric pulp test, degree of pulpal anesthesia and relationship between the pulpal anesthesia and soft tissue responses were analyzed with SPSS, paired t-test, Wilcoxon matched-pairs signed-ranks test and correlation analysis. The results were as follows : No significant differences were found in the peak thresholds to electric pulp test, in the induction time to it and in the depth of pulpal anesthesia between inferior alveolar nerve block and Gow-Gates technique (p>0.05). There was no significant relationship between pulpal anesthesia and soft tissue responses in both inferior nerve block and Gow-Gates technique.

In this paper, a method of enhancing the bandwidth of a double-dipole quasi-Yagi antenna (DDQYA) using a modified integrated balun is presented. The modified integrated balun consists of a microstrip (MS) line inserted along the center of a coplanar strip (CPS) line and the end of the MS line is connected to the CPS line through a shorting pin at the feed point. The geometry of the modified integrated balun is adjusted to improve the bandwidth of the DDQYA. In addition, the performance of the proposed balun in a back-to-back configuration is compared with a conventional balun. The proposed antenna with the optimized modified integrated balun is fabricated on an FR4 substrate, and the experiment results show that the antenna has a frequency band of 1.56-3.04 GHz(64.4%) for a VSWR < 2, which shows enhanced bandwidth compared to the DDQYA with the conventional balun.

A single RF transceiver chip for an extended GSM handset application was designedm, fabricated and evaluated. A RFIC was fabricated by using silicon BiCMOS process, and then packaged in 80 pin TQFP of $10 {\times} 10 mm^{2}$ in size. As a result, it was achieved guite reasonable integraty and good RF performance at the operation voltage of 3.3V. This paper describes development results of RF receiver section of the RFIC, which includes LNA, down conversion mixer, AGC, switched capacitor filter and down sampling mixer. The test results show that RF receiver section is well operated within frequency range of 925 ~960 MHz, which is defined on the extended GSM specification (E-GSM). The receiver section also reveals moderate power consumption of 67 mA and minimum detectable signal of -105 dBm.
Purpose: The diabetic charcot neuroarthropathy of ankle is an infrequent site (around 5%), but is definitely the location that, because of the instability and progressive deformity it involves, cause ulceration in a high percentage of patients, and this can then become a reason for amputation. However, the treatment of this disastrous disease is still challenging. We analyzed the clinical and radiological results of ankle arthrodesis by our fixation method in Charcot neuroarthropathy. Materials and Methods: Seven cases that were diagnosed as charcot neuroarthropathy of ankle arthrodesis were followed for more than 16 months postoperatively. Mean age was 57 years, and the mean follow-up period was 27 months. Anterior approach was used in arthrodesis, and internal fixation by 3 or more cannulated screws and hybrid type external fixation were used. Auto iliac bone for grafting was combined in all cases. External fixator was kept for 3 months without weight-bearing. Then, boots brace was applied for more 3 months allowing partial weight-bearing. Four cases had minor complications such as pin site infection. Preoperative and postoperative AOFAS score, time to fusion and postoperative complications were checked. Results: Postoperative fusion was completed in all cases, and the mean time to fusion was 3.4 months. No postoperative complication was checked. At the last follow-up, the mean AOFAS score had increased from 54 points to 72 points. Patient's satisfaction was over 80%. Conclusion: Satisfactory results were obtained after ankle arthrodesis using internal and hybrid type external fixation combined with auto iliac bone graft in charcot neuroarthropathy with minor complications.
Unlike external bonded steel plate or carbon fiber, the external unbonded strengthening using hi-strength bar has some advantages in speed and simplicity of installation. It is not required surface preparations and not affected by environmental conditions. A set of nine laboratory tests on RC beams strengthened using the hi-tension bars are reported. Anchoring pin developed in former research is installed at the end of beam to connect the hish-tension bar to RC beam. The test results strengthened by hi-tension bars are compared with those of non-strengthened specimens. The main test parameters are the cross-sectional area of the high-tension bar, distance of stirrups and condition of supports. Test results show that the beams reinforced are superior to reference specimens, especially for the strength and deformation capacity. Also, shear resisting effect of hi-strength bar can be confirmed in the specimens which have lack of stirrups.
Soybean curd residues (SCR) obtained from hot and cold manufacturing processes were fermented by indigenous microorganisms, Lactobacillus rhamnosus LS and Bacillus firmus NA-l for 15 h at 37$^{\circ}C$. The pH, acidity, viable cell counts, and tyrosine content were evaluated in samples with variations in sugar, starter and type of SCR. The raw Doowon SCR (D-SCR, cold-processed) fermented by indigenous microorganism had a 0.9% acidity and 6.7 ${\times}$ 10$^{7}$ CFU/g viable cell counts, compared with the 0.11 % acidity and 6.7 ${\times}$ 10$^{6}$ CFU/g viable cell counts of raw fermented Pulmuwon SCR (P-SCR, hot-processed). After fermentation of raw P-SCR with 1 % glucose and 1 % L. rhamnosus LS starter, the viable cell counts, tyrosine content and acidity were 4.7 ${\times}$ 10$^{8}$ CFU/g, 16.3 mg% and 0.9%, respectively. In addition, the raw P-SCR fermented with Bacillus firmus NA-l as co-starter had a 0.45% acidity, 2.4 ${\times}$ 10$^{8}$ CFU/g lactic acid bacteria, and 3.3 ${\times}$ 10$^{6}$ CFU/g Bacillus sp. In particular, the tyrosine content was increased 5 fold. The drying of fermented SCR was completed by hot-air drying (5$0^{\circ}C$) within 12 h; the dried P-SCR and D-SCR had 1.8 ${\times}$ 10$^{7}$ CFU/g and 5.3 ${\times}$ 10$^{6}$ CFU/g viable cell counts, respectively. The concentrate of methanol extract from fermented D-SCR inhibited the initial cell growth of E. coli, Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa in liquid culture.

A new brown button mushroom cultivar, 'Hogam', C34 line, was made by crossing homokaryons, ASI1164-37 and ASI1175-66, selected by RAPD analysis and by cultivating three times. Mycelium of 'Hogam' on CDA (compost dextrose agar) media grew well at $25^{\circ}C$. The optimum pin-heading temperature of new variety and optimum growing temperature was $14-18^{\circ}C$. The thickness of the mature cap and stipe were thicker than a control, 'Dahyang' that developed in 2010. The color of pileus was light brown and lighter than 'Dahyang'. Days required from casing to first harvesting were three days longer than control strain, but the weight of harvested fruiting body increased by 1.35 times. 'Hogam' cultivar are expected to contribute to the diversification of domestic mushroom cultivars.
Optimization of the lactic acid fermentation process was carried out to produce an old antler extract fortified with ${\gamma}$-aminobutyric acid (GABA). An old antler extract (OAE; 5%, w/v) obtained using a herbal extractor showed the highest contents of solids (1.75%) and proteins ($980{\mu}g/mL$). It also showed the highest total amino acid contents of $13,659{\mu}g/mL$, with glycine, proline, and glutamine concentrations of 1,945, 3,405, and $1,641{\mu}g/mL$, respectively. For the over-production of GABA, OAE was fermented with Lactobacillus plantarum EJ2014 in the presence of 0.5%, 1.5% glucose, and 3.5% MSG at $30^{\circ}C$ for 7 days. The fermented OAE showed high viable cell count of $2.0{\times}10^8CFU/mL$, pH of 6.56 and 0.77% acidity after 7 days. In particular, the acidity was greatly decreased by fermentation for 3 days, and 1.4% GABA was produced by the efficient conversion of the substrate, mono sodium glutamate.

The scope of this work is to determine and compare the effect of electron temperature ($T_e$) and number density ($N_e$) on the yield rate and concentration of reactive chemical species ($^{\bullet}OH$, $H_2O_2$ and $O_3$) in an argon, air and oxygen injected negative DC (0-4 kV) capillary discharge with water flow(0.1 L/min). The discharge was created between tungsten pin-to pin electrodes (${\Phi}=0.5mm$) separated by a variable distance (1-2 mm) in a quartz capillary tube (2 mm inner diameter, 4 mm outer diameter), with various gas injection rates (100-800 sccm). Optical emission spectroscopy (OES) of the hydrogen Balmer lines was carried out to investigate the line shapes and intensities as functions of the discharge parameters such as the type of gas, gas injection rate and inter electrode gap distances. The intensity ratio method was used to calculate $T_e$ and Stark broadening of Balmer ${\beta}$ lines was adopted to determine $N_e$. The effects of $T_e$ and $N_e$ on the reactive chemical species formation were evaluated and presented. The enhancement in yield rate of reactive chemical species was revealed at the higher electron temperature, higher gas injection rates, higher discharge power and larger inter-electrode gap. The discharge with oxygen injection was the most effective one for increasing the reactive chemical species concentration. The formation of reactive chemical species was shown more directly related to $T_e$ than $N_e$ in a flowing water gas injected negative DC capillary discharge.
This thesis looks into the characteristics and compares the clothing styles between the Three Kingdom to the Unified Shilla era. The purpose of this study is to see what common themes exists between the foundation of Korean clothing and how it has evolved and through see to what extent the Chinese influence has been to Korean clothing culture. Also by explaining the originality and creativity of Korean clothing, we will be able to make clear the status of Korean culture. These findings include the following; 1. The Korean strait line Gik-ryong Kyo-im can also be found at the Gochang region in the west. 2. The Ban-ryong-ui, worn by the aristocrats of the Three kingdom and Unified Shilla era, began to appear from the nobles from the Nam-Buk cho(South-north era). This combined with a Bokdu(headwear) became a part of casual dress wear. 3. Go(pants) became a traditional part of clothing for Unified Shilla and the west. 4. Ban-bi and Bae-dang, all forms of Bansu-ui ( short sleeve), came from Chinas Kucha and Hotan and came to Korea. 5. Chinas Pae-baek and Pae-za (Shawl) which is the same as Unified Shillas Peo was also to be found to have come from the west. 6. The way a different color line was added to clothing both can be found in Korean and western clothing. Similarities to material used are; First, expensive wool was used and mostly originated from the west. From far away Rome came the O-saek-gae (Five-color wool). Secondly, Kong-gak me (peacock feather) and Bi-chi mo were all originated from the west. Third, Sil-sil is stated in the Sam-kuk Sa-ki (Three Kingdom records) as being prohibited to be worn by Jin-gol women (Highest nobility during Shilla era) as headwear or comb (pin) or as a comb(pin) for yuk-doo poom ( 6th class nobility) women. Suggesting that it existed and other sources tell us that it came from Tashkent region of Russia and was a jewelry of some sort. From what we have seen above, we can see the similarities between Korean and western clothing cultures and that these interactions not only occurred with China but with many other nations. We can see that our ancestors were creative and original that when importing foreign cultures that they transformed them into a Korean style. That these foreign cultures were transformed into our own style is good evidence to these facts.
