This research derived the perception with, and their remedies, in our country's fire cause investigation system by conducting survey on the working-level officials responsible for fire cause investigation in the fire stations and police stations. The results of the survey showed the necessity of establishing departments exclusively responsible for fire statistics management, broad area fire cause investigation task force, fire appraisal organizations besides National Institute of Scientific Investigation, standards for retaining fire investigation equipment, ways of improving technical education system, and improving the system for those who are specialized in arson (fire) cause investigation.

This research was conducted with goals to reducing arson and finding its relationship with social phenomenons. Especially, unlike previous researches, focus has been on the economic indicators, and the effect of economic indicators on arson. As a result, we were able to find the relationship between economic indicators and arson. When growth rate and consumer index prices decrease, the economy stagnates and thus incidents of arson increases. In contrast, when growth rate increases and consumer index prices increase, the rate in which arson occurred decreased. Also, we have found that when personal debt rate increases, the numbers of arson incidents increased as well.

Nowadays, the arson is not common interest happening. the arson has been handled with a crime of violence along with murder, robbery and rape. because of being detrimental to the public clam. but the arson a has not been made award of a serious social problem. There is a rise in the control possibility according to a level of national concern. we have known that the last fire accident of the Deagu underground It took a heavy toll of lives and the property due to our no interest in arson. The government and regional self governing community have fully aware of the serious of the arson so that we can make arrangement for overall measures. The government should not only make up for legislation and systematize to correct a defect but also there is uniting the countermeasure system of the organs. The government establish particular research institution of the arson to consider a useful countermeasure. The investigation authorities should develop the investigation technique to arrest an arsonist. The relevant post strengthen the public relation to bring up a private organization of fire prevention in order to prevent the arson to try the government best.

This study is to deduce problems and grope for its solution by investigating the general operation status about the present fire investigation in Korea. As for the problems, this study is to point out that they are application of diversion by the function of law for fire investigation, execution of individualized fire investigation by each institution, total lack of information sharing system for fire investigation, and weakness of cause investigation for arson. The reform measures are as follows: the unity of law for fire investigation, joint investigation by the related institutions, early introduction of civil fire investigation expert system, extension of special research institutes for fire investigation, introduction of system for sharing information of fire investigation, and operation of fire investigation team for cause investigation for arson.

The victims of fire are increasing steadily. Fires have been occurred by arson, spontaneous combustion and various causes. As a result of that, the damages of fire got out of hand. Especially, the fires of flammable liquids are can be spreaded easily because of high calorific value and fire loads. These rapid fire spread cause the huge losses of both life and property and the malfunction of extinguishing systems. In these studies, we examined the spread pattern of surface fire on the water surface by the reappearance experiment.

The purpose of this study is to recognize the necessity for the management of the available materials in cases of arsons and to prevent arson gaining an understanding of the combustion characteristics of the flammable materials and combustion accelerants in arson cases. We investigated and analyzed the statistical data on arsons and selected flammable materials (wood, paper, synthetic textiles, synthetic resins), and combustion accelerants (gasoline, diesel, solvent) that are frequently used in cases of arson. We conducted a thermogravimetric analysis to assess the thermal properties of the flammable materials. Also, we conducted burning and flame spread rate tests for the purpose of comparing and analyzing the combustion characteristics of the flammable materials and combustion accelerants.

There are many origins of fire which are offered by many path, such as cigarette-butt, light of match, playing with fire, arson, and other, in and around wastebasket. Because of above-mentioned thing and the quality of the plastic, it is very difficult to discriminate the difference of burned pattern between in and around wastebasket, between an accidental fire and arson in oder to investigate the point of fire. In this study, the wastebaskets filled up with 2/3 combustibles, and then, in and around wastebasket using the gas lighter by ignitor, and we observe how the fire spread. As a result, if wastebaskets are burned inside the limit 50%, we discriminate the difference of burned pattern between in and around wastebasket. But, if wastebaskets are burned more thant 50%, it is impossible to discriminate the difference of burned pattern between in and around wastebasket.

There were little available data of vehicular incendiary fires. We investigated fires by inflammable gasoline and papers. cloths in the interior and exterior of vehicles. Fires in the interior and exterior of vehicles were carried out under the several conditions by incendiary methods and vehicle's windows. We knew that dominant factor of combustion is direction of wind at that time in vehicle's fire. And we knew that the other mark of combustion pattern in vehicle's fire could be a clue for solving the problem in discerning the place to which we sotted fire between the general fire and arson.

The objective of this study is to suggest a fire prevention measure for suppressing and preventing loss of precious human lives and property damages. The characteristics of incendiary fire are analyzed in terms of fire engineering to review a plan for promoting for coping with the risk. In this study, a medical aspect such as mental and psychological analysis of the motive or act of an incendiary and legal and administrative problems such as the penalty for the incendiary are not included in the scope of the study. Fire statistics data of Korea, Japan, and U.S. are investigated for analysis of actual states of incendiary fire occurrences. In particular, to quantitatively recognize the burning characteristics of common fire and the burning characteristics of incendiary fire, a fire model test and computer simulation were performed. And a plan for promoting the optimal incendiary fire prevention measure were suggest.

This research shows the method about the auto extinguishing system construction for the subway train's safety operation. The safety system is the total auto extinguishing system which it is able to overcome the emergency situation, to see fast using the sensing system, to interface using the communication system, finally to extinguish the large-scale fire happened. The system model is the total disaster mitigation system model preventing the arson or terror. and to apply a method of the fire extinguishing system using reinforced fire extinguishing agency in the world first. It is to use the subway train and the railroad train which is prevented and mitigated the large-scale demage the same as the arson and the terror.
