Wavelet 변환을 이용한 이방성 적층판의 판파 해석과 음원 위치 결정 (Wavelet Analysis of Plate Waves in Anisotropic Laminates and Acoustic Source Location)

  • 이방성 적층 복합재 판의 과도적인 파동 해석을 위한 새로운 방법을 제시하였다. Gabor wavelet을 사용하는 wavelet 변환을 분산성 굽힘파의 시간-주파수 해석에 적용하였다. 시간-주파수 영역에서 wavelet 변환의 크기의 최대값은 군속도의 도달시간을 나타냄을 보였다. 음향방출원으로서 연필심 파단을 사용하여 준등방성 판과 일방향 보강 적층판에서 실험을 수행하였다. 굽힘파의 분산 예측을 위하여 Mindlin 판이론을 사용하였으며,주파수의 함수로 몇 개의 방향에 대해 측정한 군속도 실험 결과와 잘 일치하였다. 굽힘파의 주파수 의존 도달 시간과 같은 파의군속도 방향의존성을 이용하여 이방성 판에서의 파손 위치를 결정하였으며, 그 결과를 제시하였다.

  • Due to the long tectonic history and the very complex geologic formations in Korea, the anisotropic characteristics of subsurface material may often change very greatly and locally. The algorithms for the travel time computation commonly used, however, may not give sufficiently precise results particularly for the complex and strong anisotropic model, since they are based on the two-dimensional (2D) earth and/or weak anisotropy assumptions. This study is intended to develope a three-dimensional (3D) modeling algorithm to precisely calculate the first arrival time in the complex anisotropic media. We assume 3D TTI (tilted transversely isotropy) medium having the arbitrary symmetry axis. The algorithm includes the 2D non-linear interpolation scheme to calculate the traveltimes inside the grid and the 3D traveltime mapping to fill the 3D model with first arrival times. The weak anisotropy assumption, moreover, can be overcome through devising a numerical approach of the steepest descent method in the calculation of minimum traveltime, instead of using approximate solution.

목포항 운송과정의 분석 (The Analysis of the Transportation Process of Mokpo Port)

  • Korean economic and industrial structure has been seperated into some areas with the trend of the change to the bloc system of international economy: the Gyeongin including the capital area, the Middle-West, the South-West, the South-East, and the Eastern sea areas. Mokpo port has played a major role as the central one of the South-West area and the entrance of Yeong-san river of Jeonnam province gate. Some studies has been done on the Mokpo port, but there is no research of the analytical approach about it. In this paper, we analyze the data of 1994's on the domestic and oceangoing piers in the Mokpo port and simulate the transportation process of it through a queueing model. The results of the simulation are summarized as follows: The average arrival interval of the domestic vessel is 6.034 hours. The average service time and the berth utility rate are 24.056 hours and over 100%, respectively. The average arrival interval of the oceangoing vessel is 34.48 hours. The average service time and the berth utility rate are 120.04 hours and the 34.91%, respectively. The proposal to improving of the Mokpo port as follows: It is desirable to extend the capacity of domestic pier to about 50% for the optimal utility rate of 70% and in the case of oceangoing pier to be increase 65% of the vessel capacity for the optimal utility rate of 70%.

Performance Analysis of Space-Time Codes in Realistic Propagation Environments: A Moment Generating Function-Based Approach

  • In this paper, we derive analytical expressions for the exact pairwise error probability (PEP) of a space-time coded system operating over spatially correlated fast (constant over the duration of a symbol) and slow (constant over the length of a code word) fad­ing channels using a moment-generating function-based approach. We discuss two analytical techniques that can be used to evaluate the exact-PEPs (and therefore, approximate the average bit error probability (BEP)) in closed form. These analytical expressions are more realistic than previously published PEP expressions as they fully account for antenna spacing, antenna geometries (uniform linear array, uniform grid array, uniform circular array, etc.) and scattering models (uniform, Gaussian, Laplacian, Von-mises, etc.). Inclusion of spatial information in these expressions provides valuable insights into the physical factors determining the performance of a space-time code. Using these new PEP expressions, we investigate the effect of antenna spacing, antenna geometries and azimuth power distribution parameters (angle of arrival/departure and angular spread) on the performance of a four-state QPSK space-time trellis code proposed by Tarokh et al. for two transmit antennas.

  • Queueing models with service can be applied in the area of performance studies of polling systems in data communication and switching systems. We provide a new approach for analysis on the cycle time of the multiqueue system consisting of statistically identical stations where at most one message is served for any station in a polling cycle. We assume an independent Posson arrival at each station. The message service time and switchover time are assumed to be constant. Based on the dependence between the stations, cycle time distribution is derived. Then, this result is validated by a computer simulation.

  • IEEE 802.15.4a 표준은 정확한 위치추정 서비스를 지원하기 위하여 time-of-arrival (TOA) 기반의 거리측정 기술을 제공한다. 특히, non-line-of-sight (NLOS) 상황은 TOA 기반의 위치인식에서 중요한 문제이고, IEEE 802.15.4a 네트워크의 성능에 심각한 영향을 끼칠 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 에너지 효율적인 낮은 복잡도의 위치추정 알고리즘을 제안한다. 제안한 알고리즘은 TOA 거리측정을 위해 순차적인 acknowledgment (ACK) 패킷을 이용하고 위치추정지역을 제한 할 수 있는 작은 사각 영역을 설정함으로써 위치를 추정한다. 패킷 교환으로 인한 메시지 오버헤드는 순차적 ACK 패킷을 이용하여 감소될 수 있다. 사각 영역 설정을 통하여 NLOS 환경에 있는 거리측정 값을 제거하고, 위치 추정의 영역을 제한함으로써 추정하는 연산 시간과 에너지를 줄일 수 있다. 시뮬레이션을 통해 에너지 소모와 추정 위치의 정확도 측면에서 제안한 알고리즘이 기존의 알고리즘 보다 좋은 성능을 보이는 것을 확인 하였다.

TOA Estimation Technique for IR-UWB Based on Homogeneity Test

  • This paper deals with the estimation of the time of arrival (TOA) of ultra-wideband signals under IEEE 802.15.4a channel models. The proposed approach is based on a randomness test and consists of determining whether an autoregressive (AR) process modeling an energy frame is random or not by using a distance to measure the randomness. The proposed method uses a threshold that is derived analytically according to a preset false alarm probability. To highlight the effectiveness of the developed approach, simulation setups as well as real data experiments are conducted to assess the performance of the new TOA estimation algorithm. Thereby, the proposed method is compared with the cell averaging constant false alarm rate technique, the threshold comparison algorithm, and the technique based on maximum energy selection with search back. The obtained results are promising, considering both simulations and collected real-life data.

Estimation and Prediction-Based Connection Admission Control in Broadband Satellite Systems

  • We apply a "sliding-window" Maximum Likelihood(ML) estimator to estimate traffic parameters On-Off source and develop a method for estimating stochastic predicted individual cell arrival rates. Based on these results, we propose a simple Connection Admission Control(CAC)scheme for delay sensitive services in broadband onboard packet switching satellite systems. The algorithms are motivated by the limited onboard satellite buffer, the large propagation delay, and low computational capabilities inherent in satellite communication systems. We develop an algorithm using the predicted individual cell loss ratio instead of using steady state cell loss ratios. We demonstrate the CAC benefits of this approach over using steady state cell loss ratios as well as predicted total cell loss ratios. We also derive the predictive saturation probability and the predictive cell loss ratio and use them to control the total number of connections. Predictive congestion control mechanisms allow a satellite network to operate in the optimum region of low delay and high throughput. This is different from the traditional reactive congestion control mechanism that allows the network to recover from the congested state. Numerical and simulation results obtained suggest that the proposed predictive scheme is a promising approach for real time CAC.

복수휴가형 이산시간 GI/G/1 대기체계에 대한 수정부가변수법 (On the Modified Supplementary Variable Technique for a Discrete-Time GI/G/1 Queue with Multiple Vacations)

  • This work suggests a new analysis approach for a discrete-time GI/G/1 queue with multiple vacations. The method used is called a modified supplementary variable technique and our result is an exact transform-free expression for the steady state queue length distribution. Utilizing this result, we propose a simple two-moment approximation for the queue length distribution. From this, approximations for the mean queue length and the probabilities of the number of customers in the system are also obtained. To evaluate the approximations, we conduct numerical experiments which show that our approximations are remarkably simple yet provide fairly good performance, especially for a Bernoulli arrival process.

  • The response of ship roll oscillation under random ice impulsive loads modeled by Poisson arrival process is very important in studying the safety of ships navigation in cold regions. Under both external and parametric random excitations the evolution of the probability density function of roll motion is evaluated using the path integral (PI) approach. The PI method relies on the Chapman-Kolmogorov equation, which governs the response transition probability density functions at two close intervals of time. Once the response probability density function at an early close time is specified, its value at later close time can be evaluated. The PI method is first demonstrated via simple dynamical models and then applied for ship roll dynamics under random impulsive white noise excitation.
