  • High speed network makes possible to transfer not only the test data but also multimedia data such as audio, image, and moving pictures and etc. In a multimedia applications, as a multimedia storage system, it is necessary to use a disk array to store and retrieve data by real time. It is important feature to various disk array parameters as a storage system on a real VOD system, such as configuration method of each disks and allocation method of multimedia data. In this paper, various parameters for the disk array are decided to be used for the video-on-demand system application by simulations in two ways. The real and simulation measurement are compared and analyzed on the performance. Simulation results shows that RAID level 5 and 256KB as striping unit and 185KB as data requests size per seconds are suitable parameter for the disk array architecture which provides MPEG-1 files with a rate of 1.5Mbps in two measurements of real and simulation.

  • Many spoofing detection studies have been conducted to cope with the most difficult types of deception among various disturbances of GPS, such as jamming, spoofing, and meaconing. In this paper, we propose a spoofing detection scheme based on elevation masked-relative received power between GPS L1 and L2 signals in a system using a multi-band array antenna. The proposed scheme focuses on enabling spoofing to be normally detected and minimizes the possibility of false detection in an environment where false alarms may occur due to pattern distortion among elements of an array antenna. The pattern distortion weakens the GPS signal strength at low elevation. It becomes confusing to detect a spoofing signal based on the relative power difference between GPS L1 and L2, especially when GPS L2 has weak signal strength. We propose design parameters for the relative power threshold including beamforming gain, the minimum received power difference between L1 and L2, and the patch antenna gain difference between L1 and L2. In addition, in order to eliminate the weak signal strength of GPS L2 in the spoofing detection process, we propose a rotation matrix that sets the elevation mask based on platform coordinates. Array antennas generally do not have high usefulness in commercial areas where receivers are operated alone, but are considered essential in military areas where GPS receivers are used together with signal processing for beamforming in the direction of GPS satellites. Through laboratory and live sky tests using the device under test, the proposed scheme with an elevation mask detects spoofing signals well and reduces the probability of false detection relative to that without the elevation mask.

  • In this paper the performance of a array invariant method is evaluated for source-range estimation in horizontally stratified shallow water ocean waveguide. The method has advantage of little computationally effort over existing source-localization methods. such as matched field processing or the waveguide invariant and array gain is fully exploited. And. no knowledge of the environment is required except that the received field should not be dominated by purely interference This simple and instantaneous method is applied to simulated acoustic propagation filed for testing range estimation performance. The result of range estimation according to the SNR for the underwater impulsive source with broadband spectrum is demonstrated. The spatial smoothing method is applied to suppress the effect of mutipath propagation by high frequency signal. The result of performance test for range estimation shows that the error rate is within 20% at the SNR above 10dB.

  • Package reliability test was conducted to investigate the effect of solder composition on the ball fatigue strength for BGA (Ball Grid Array) packaging. The test pieces are assembled using eutectic composition 63Sn/37Pb, 62Sn/36Pb/2Ag, and 63Sn/34.4Pb/2Ag/0.5Sb solder after pre-conditioning at MRT Lv 3 (Moisture Resistance Test Level) and then conducted under T/C (Temperature Cycle test). For each case, the ball shear strength was obtained and micro structure photos were taken. SEM (scanning electron microscope) and EDX (Energy Dispersive X-ray) were used to the analyze failure mechanism. The growth rate of Au-Sn intermetallic compound in Sn63Pb34.5Ag2Sb0.5 solder was slow when compared to 63Sn/37Pb solder and 62Sn/36Pb/2Ag solder. The degradation of shear strength of solder balls caused by solder composition was discussed.

  • A PV system inverter test module using RTDS was developed and performance test of a commercial PV inverter was carried out. The developed module consists of one RTDS hardware rack, RTDS software models representing PV array and simple distribution system, and two power amplifiers that was specifically designed for generating power corresponding to signals from RTDS. Performance test results verified effectiveness and reliability of the test module. It is expected that the developed test module may help PV inverter manufacturers improve ana test their systems in the developing stage.

  • A direction finding system test-bed(DFSTB) at the electronic warfare communication-band is presented to efficiently evaluate and optimize the performance of the direction finding system through the indoor test setup. This test-bed gives a significant benefit to the designers of the direction finding system because it allows flexible test and design trade-off in the system design cycle. The system description and implementation of test-bed architecture, and the experiment results of direction finding accuracy according to modulation schemes are presented.

  • A vibration test coupon is prepared with nine plastic ball grid array packages on a printed circuit board using SnPb solders, and a random vibration test is conducted on the coupon. Life data from the test are analyzed, and it is shown that over the board, life data is location-dependent. For investigating this location dependency, a finite element model is developed and the equivalent stresses, which are defined based on the stress response functions at each node, are investigated. It is shown that one of the corner solder balls has the maximum equivalent stress at a package during the test. Finally, it is demonstrated that the maximum equivalent stress and durability life are inversely proportional.

  • We have developed a cost effective test socket for ball grid array(BGA) integrated circuit(IC) packages using BeCu metal sheet as a test probe. The BeCu furnishes the best combination of electrical conductivity and corrosion resistance. The probe of the test socket was designed with a BeCu cantilever. The cantilever was designed with a length of 450 ${\mu}m$, a width of 200 ${\mu}m$, a thickness of 10 ${\mu}m$, and a pitch of 650 ${\mu}m$ for $11{\times}11$ BGA. The fabrication of the test socket used techniques such as through-silicon-via filling, bonding silicon wafer and BeCu metal sheet with dry film resist(DFR). The test socket is applicable for BGA IC chip.

  • We propose a new scheme combining the calibration of the path imperfections and the compensation of HPA nonlinearity in the downlink OFDM smart antenna systems. We use a two term third-order polynomial (without second-order term) and the indirect learning architecture for calibration and compensation, to make each path of the antenna array have equal characteristics. We test our scheme with computer simulations. The result shows that, with the addition of only one third-order term, the adverse nonlinear effects as well as the those of linear imperfections can be effectively compensated.
