열차 차량기지의 중정비 검수 용량 시뮬레이션 분석 (Simulation Analysis of the Train Overhaul Maintenance Capacity for Rolling Stock Depot)

  • As railroad industry face the new Renaissance era, effective and efficient maintenance methods for rolling stock operation are required with advanced railroad technology. All kinds of railroad systems such as high speed long distance train, metropolitan mass transit and light rail require systematic maintenance technology in order to maintain the safe railroad operation. Simulation models for detailed operations of the sample maintenance center are developed. In this study, standard maintenance procedures, layout, equipments and number of workers of Siheung Metropolitan Railroad Maintenance Rolling Stock Depot are considered. The proposed simulation models are developed using simulation package ARENA. Three simulation analysis using the developed simulation model are done. First, the bottleneck operation is identified. Second, the relationship between maintenance center size, number of workers and cycle time is analyzed. Lastly, the scheduling performances between PERT/CPM and Critical Chain Project Management(CCPM) are compared.

  • 교통체계의 발달은 지리공간 위에서 시간거리와 비용거리를 단축시켜 시공간과 비용공간의 상대적 수렴을 가져온다. 고속도로와 고속철 둥 사회간접자본시설은 지역발전에 절대적인 파급효과를 미친다. 목포는 서해안고속도로와 호남고속철도의 영향권 내 지역으로서, 여름휴가철(성수기) 외지의 관광객은 목포와 같은 항구도시를 찾지만, 연안여객선의 수용능력이 관광객(도착차량)의 수를 포용하지 못하므로 balking현상이 발생한다. 이 연구에서는 ARENA의 개념과 속성을 이해하고 목포항 연안여객선 운영현황 시뮬레이션을 통하여 balking의 진상을 면밀히 분석, 연안도로의 정체현상 해결을 위한 효율적인 여객선 운영방안을 모색하고자 한다. 이 논문은 고속도로와 고속철의 영향권 테에 있는 항구도시의 경제부흥에 일조 할 수 있다는 정성적 효과를 제시하는데 의의가 있다.

  • Recently, an industrial production-distribution planning problem has been widely investigated in Supply Chain Management(SCM). One of the key issues in the current SCM research area is reverse logistics network. This study have developed a simulation model for the reverse logistics network. The simulation model analysis reverse logistics network issues such as inventory policy, manufacturing policy, transportation mode, warehouse assignment, supplier assignment. Computational experiments using commercial simulation tool ARENA show that the real problems. The model can be used to decide an appropriate production-distribution planning problem in the research area.

다이싱 블레이드 제조공정의 생산성향상에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Productivity Improvement of the Dicing Blade Production Process)

  • Industry 4.0's goal is the 'Smart Factory' that integrates and controls production process, procurement, distribution and service based on the fundamental technology such as internet of the things, cyber physical system, sensor, etc. Basic requirement for successful promotion of this Industry 4.0 is the large supply of semiconductor. However, company I who produces dicing blades has difficulty to meet the increasing demand and has hard time to increase revenue because its raw material includes high price diamond, and requires very complex and sensitive process for production. Therefore, this study is focused on understanding the problems and presenting optimal plan to increase productivity of dicing blade manufacturing processes. We carried out a study as follows to accomplish the above purposes. First, previous researches were investigated. Second, the bottlenecks in manufacturing processes were identified using simulation tool (Arena 14.3). Third, we calculate investment amount according to added equipments purchase and perform economic analysis according to cost and sales increase. Finally, we derive optimum plan for productivity improvement and analyze its expected effect. To summarize these results as follows : First, daily average blade production volume can be increased two times from 60 ea. to 120 ea. by performing mixing job in the day before. Second, work flow can be smoother due to reduced waiting time if more machines are added to improve setting process. It was found that average waiting time of 23 minutes can be reduced to around 9 minutes from current process. Third, it was found through simulation that the whole processing line can compose smoother production line by performing mixing process in advance, and add setting and sintering machines. In the course of this study, it was found that adding more machines to reduce waiting time is not the best alternative.

효율적인 듀얼 사이클을 위한 야드 트랙터 통제 방법 (Efficient Yard Tractor Control Method for the Dual Cycling in Container Terminal)

  • 오늘날 글로벌 수 출입 공급망 내에서 항만 하역작업의 효율성은 아주 중요하다. 해상운송에서는 컨테이너화와 더불어 늘어나는 화물량을 극복하기 위해서 초대형선의 운항이 일반화 되고 있다. 따라서 컨테이너 터미널의 관리자들은 안벽작업의 효율성을 극대화하기 위하여 더블 사이클과 듀얼 사이클 방법을 시도하고 있다. 또한, 야드 트랙터의 할당의 효율성을 높이기 위해서 야드 트랙터 풀링 방법이 제시되었다. 본 논문에서는 기존의 풀링 방법들과 듀얼 사이클을 고려한 풀링 방법의 비교를 통해서 듀얼 사이클의 효율성을 분석하였다. YT 할당 모형은 시뮬레이션 분석 소프트웨어인 Arena를 이용하여 수립되었다. 실험결과 듀얼 사이클이 많은 것이 항상 크레인 생산성을 높이는 것은 아닌 것으로 분석되었다.

성형외과 예약 고객 데이터를 반영한 최적 예약 패턴 연구 (Study on Optimal Appointment Pattern using Plastic Surgery Appointment Data)

  • Purpose: This study investigates the best appointment pattern which can enhance customer's satisfaction and hospital's efficient management reflecting plastic surgery clinic's service characteristics. Methodology: The data of this study is obtained from Plastic surgery Clinic which is located in the civic center. By collecting and analyzing the data, we build the simulation model using ARENA. Based on 5 appointment patterns that was suggested in formal appointment scheduling studies, we experiment 3 simulation models; 'Basic Appointment Pattern' that has no restriction, 'Restriction on Second Customer' that restricts the number of second customer's in each slot, 'Restriction on Process Time' that restricts the number of second customer who has long process time in each slot. We can check robustness of the appointment patterns by experimenting on off-peak day and peak day, during peak season. Findings: This study confirms that these 2 restrictions can give a better result than 'Basic Appointment Pattern' that just simply distributes customers by number. Especially, the performance of Triangle-like pattern which is the best appointment pattern in the formal study has been improved by adding restrictions. Based on 'DET', 'Restriction on Second Customer' shows a better result. Meanwhile, based on 'E(WT)', 'Restriction on Process Time' shows a better result. Overall, based on 'DET+E(WT)', 'Restriction on Second Customer' shows a better result. Practical Implications: The purpose of each hospital may alter as demand for plastic surgery grows increasingly. Thus, each hospital should be always prepared to introduce appointment pattern for changed purpose. In order to respond flexibly to these changes, it is necessary for medical personnel to improve the awareness or for hospital to create an environment by constructing appointment program so that medical personnel does not need to put more labor on work.

  • Simulation plays a pivotal role in the analysis of complex systems. In this study, a job shop manufacturing system has been analyzed through DBR (Drum-buffer-rope) simulation. Specific attention has been put to examine the rate of due-date achievement. We first derived key factors affecting the system performance. We then developed ARENA simulation program based on DBR of TOC (Theory of Constraints) concepts. Based on the performance measure, factors, and experimental design, we obtained the results. We have drawn meaningful results through examination of the results. The results obtained from this study may provide a good base for practical applications.

  • This paper evaluates the real-time performance of the Train Communication Network (TCN) that consists of WTB and MVB. A run-time scheduling algorithm for the hard-real time communication was proposed and its performance was evaluated. Also, a new addressing method and the adaptive tree algorithm were suggested to enhance performance. The overall performance was evaluated by computer simulation using Arena.

  • Due to the complexity of parts flow and limited resources, FMS(Flexible Manufacturing System) develops blocking, starvation and deadlock problems, which reduce its performance. In order to minimize such problems buffers are imposed between workstations of the manufacturing lines. In this paper, we are concerned with finding the optimal buffer allocation with regard to maximizing system throughput in limited total buffer capacity situation of FMS. A grouping heuristic to solve the buffer allocation problem is proposed. Computer simulation using Arena will be experimented to show the validation of the proposed algotithm.

  • In order to improve the hospital service quality, some hospitals try to reduce the outpatients' waiting time in the hospital. One of the dissatisfied service items at the hospital is the long waiting time to take the prescribed medicine. In most cases, the smaller the number of pharmacists, the longer could be the waiting time. The suggestion of criteria for optimal allocation of appropriate number of pharmacists must be very important to manage the hospital pharmacy. In this paper, we suggest the method to figure out appropriate number of pharmacists through the real situation study at the Sampling Medical Center Pharmacy. We present the simulation study results using the simulation package ARENA and the analysis of statistical distribution of the arriving prescriptions. The result of this research could be applied to the other service business to figure out the optimal allocation of available human resources and to do the job analysis for better service quality.
