  • The aberrant movement that Gilles Deleuze wanted to describe represents 'unclosed' or 'unlimited' possibility; it also means that a being has unlimited virtual power until it turns into a thing. In this paper, I analyzed and classified "Dialogue Factual,"one of the animation films by Jan Svankmajer, based on the logical grounds by Gilles Deleuze. First, as a result of analysis according to the seven characteristics in the experimental animation by Paul Wells, 'Dialogue Factual' has all of the features in the experimental animation, and, as I have found, the analysis through a comparison with Carl Dreyer's "The Passion of Joan Of Arc" indicates the works by Jan Svankmajer do not conform to Sensory-motor schemata. Such aberrant properties are involved with the time-image by Gilles Deleuze; by comparison with "Lavender Mist No. 1", one of the artworks by Jackson Pollock, it has been confirmed that "crystal image," the important concept of the time-image, is inherent in "Dialogue Factual". Lastly, the analysis of shots suggests that the movement-image and the time-image coexist in "Dialogue Factual". However, they are not to be classified by a clear-cut dichotomy.

  • In this paper, we introduce a simulation tool for solar system using 3D animation tool MAYA. It accurately models solar system's astronomical features, such as each planet's orbital period, orbital speed, relative size, and texture, etc. This simulator visualize the solar system in 3D, which can be used to easily understands the system's positioning and astronomical movements. With a conventional Maya modeling process using menus and UI windows, it is difficult to assign correct physical attributes of planets. We use Python script to set up each planet's astronomical parameters. The proposed simulator is rendered as real as possible to be used for virtual reality and educational purpose.

  • Noise is used to create realistic animations that look like natural phenomena as well as procedural textures and shapes by adding randomness to graphical applications. In this paper, we suggest a method to edit noise values to satisfy the constraints that reflect the user's demands while maintaining the inherent statistical features of the noise function. Noise editing uses optimization to minimize the difference between the statistical characteristics of the ideal and edited versions of a noise source. Using our editing method, detailed control of animation and shape data that include noise is possible.

  • The characters in animations have diverse distinctive features and personalities. These personalities and characteristics are composed of various elements such and feature, motion, conversation, and walking motion, and so on. Especially, walking motion is the basic element to express character action. And it plays a key role for expressing personalities of characters. In this paper, we classify characters in animations by distinctive feature and personality based on the cosmic dual forces and five elements theory. The relationships between personalities of characters and movements are suggested by analyzing motions of the classified characters.

  • Current flight maneuver diagram used by pilots is based on 2D spatial presentation, so it has limitation on display 3D flight information and hard to understand it instinctively. Flight animation authoring tools for this diagram are complex to use and lack useful features like non-linear editing of flight path and real-time interactivity on multiple aircrafts. This research focuses on 3D flight path generation method in the animation system for flight maneuver education. This research combines initial sketch input on 2D diagram with the thrust of an aircraft to generate 3D linear spline as close as to real flight. Using suggested linear spline creation method, the flight path can be visualized, edited, and animated in real-time at the flight maneuver briefing and debriefing.

  • The coffee market has been rapidly growing up recently as well as the coffee industry which makes the number of educational institutions increasing in Korea. On the other hand, the classes lean too much on the practical exercise so the coffee education is urgently needed to define precisely and systematize academically. This study is accomplished on the basis of the teachers and students requirement analysis. The features that sets this study apart from the existing educational digital media is that the definite teaching-learning methods and teaching strategies were developed first. Furthermore, the physical and chemical phenomenon of coffee brewing were simulated by 3D animation software based on the visual languages. The general process of this media production was composed by the mutual relationship of the teacher's needs, educationist's strategies and media producer. After applying the digital media to students in the lesson of coffee science theory it was effective to increase their concentrativeness, interesting and learning motive. This media is also receiving the positive evaluation by the teachers to help the students in understanding the coffee science.

  • In this paper, we investigated the implementation of a hairstyle recommendation system based on big data and deepfake technology. The proposed hairstyle recommendation system recognizes the facial shapes based on the user's photo (image). Facial shapes are classified into oval, round, and square shapes, and hairstyles that suit each facial shape are synthesized using deepfake technology and provided as videos. Hairstyles are recommended based on big data by applying the latest trends and styles that suit the facial shape. With the image segmentation map and the Motion Supervised Co-Part Segmentation algorithm, it is possible to synthesize elements between images belonging to the same category (such as hair, face, etc.). Next, the synthesized image with the hairstyle and a pre-defined video are applied to the Motion Representations for Articulated Animation algorithm to generate a video animation. The proposed system is expected to be used in various aspects of the beauty industry, including virtual fitting and other related areas. In future research, we plan to study the development of a smart mirror that recommends hairstyles and incorporates features such as Internet of Things (IoT) functionality.

  • The purpose of this paper is two-fold: 1) A novel algorithm in order to extract lane-related information from road images is presented; 2) Design specifications of an image processing onboard unit capable of extracting lanerelated information in real-time is also presented. Obtaining precise information from road images requires many features due to the effects of noise that eventually leads to long processing time. By exploiting a FPGA and DSP, we solve the problem of real-time processing. Due to the fact that image processing of road images relies largely on edge features, the FPGA is adopted in the hardware design. The schematic configuration of the FPGA is optimized in order to perform 3 $\times$ 3 Sobel edge extraction. The DSP carries out high-level image processing of recognition, decision, estimation, etc. The proposed algorithm uses edge features to define an Edge Distribution Function (EDF), which is a histogram of edge magnitude with respect to the edge orientation angle. The EDF enables the edge-related information and lane-related to be connected. The performance of the proposed system is verified through the extraction of lane-related information. The experimental results show the robustness of the proposed algorithm and a processing speed of more than 25 frames per second, which is considered quite successful.

  • In this study, I examined the visual elements for narrative structure and the symbols, scene components and visual styles in the images through analyze the flat staging in Tomm Moore's animated feature film, . As a research method, I figure out the general theories about staging and analyze extracted scenes which revealed flat staging in the , then summarize and clarify the flat staging production elements and features of Tomm Moore. As a result, in , the composition of the screen using the basic shapes, the screen composition containing the spiral which is symbol of the Celtic traditional pattern, the stable and flat frame expression through the balanced screen composition, expression of spatial sensation using perspective, appearance of the period by using the inverted perspective, and composition that can emphasize the flat formability are appeared as a characteristic. Through this, the two-dimensional planarity was maximized to convey the feeling of appreciating the illustrations of fairy tales. Tomm Moore, who produced animation based on folk tales in order to inherit the traditional culture of Ireland, has been attracting worldwide attention because of its flat staging to help narrative, enhancing the original expression and performance of animation. I hope that this study will be used as basic data for industry workers and researchers who make unique and excellent animated feature film.
