New analytical solutions to water wave diffraction by vertical truncated cylinders

  • This study develops new analytical solutions to water wave diffraction by vertical truncated cylinders in the context of linear potential theory. Three typical truncated surface-piercing cylinders, a submerged bottom-standing cylinder and a submerged floating cylinder are examined. The analytical solutions utilize the multi-term Galerkin method, which is able to model the cube-root singularity of fluid velocity near the edges of the truncated cylinders by expanding the fluid velocity into a set of basis function involving the Gegenbauer polynomials. The convergence of the present analytical solution is rapid, and a few truncated numbers in the series of the basis function can yield results of six-figure accuracy for wave forces and moments. The present solutions are in good agreement with those by a higher-order BEM (boundary element method) model. Comparisons between present results and experimental results in literature and results by Froude-Krylov theory are conducted. The variation of wave forces and moments with different parameters are presented. This study not only gives a new analytical approach to wave diffraction by truncated cylinders but also provides a reliable benchmark for numerical investigations of wave diffraction by structures.

Accurate buckling analysis of rectangular thin plates by double finite sine integral transform method

  • This paper explores the analytical buckling solution of rectangular thin plates by the finite integral transform method. Although several analytical and numerical developments have been made, a benchmark analytical solution is still very few due to the mathematical complexity of solving high order partial differential equations. In solution procedure, the governing high order partial differential equation with specified boundary conditions is converted into a system of linear algebraic equations and the analytical solution is obtained classically. The primary advantage of the present method is its simplicity and generality and does not need to pre-determine the deflection function which makes the solving procedure much reasonable. Another advantage of the method is that the analytical solutions obtained converge rapidly due to utilization of the sum functions. The application of the method is extensive and can also handle moderately thick and thick elastic plates as well as bending and vibration problems. The present results are validated by extensive numerical comparison with the FEA using (ABAQUS) software and the existing analytical solutions which show satisfactory agreement.

BOUNDS OF HANKEL DETERMINANTS FOR ANALYTIC FUNCTION

  • In this paper, we give estimates of the Hankel determinant H2(1) in a novel class 𝓝 (𝜀) of analytical functions in the unit disc. In addition, the relation between the Fekete-Szegö function H2(1) and the module of the angular derivative of the analytical function p(z) at a boundary point b of the unit disk will be given. In this association, the coefficients in the Hankel determinant b2, b3 and b4 will be taken into consideration. Moreover, in a class of analytic functions on the unit disc, assuming the existence of angular limit on the boundary point, the estimations below of the modulus of angular derivative have been obtained.

  • 본 논문에서는 Si의 유효 이온화 계수를 온도 함수로 추출하였고, 이 유효 이온화 계수를 이용하여 Si $p^+n$ 접합에서의 항복 전압을 위한 해석적 표현식을 온도 함수로 유도하였다. 100K 300K 및 500K일 경우, 해석적 항복 전압 결과는 $10^{14}cm^{-3}{\~} 10^{17}cm^{-3}$의 농도 범위에서 실험 결과 및 시뮬레이션 결과와 비교하여 오차 범위 $3\%$ 이내로 잘 일치하였다.

Analysis of Doping Profile Dependent Threshold Voltage for DGMOSFET Using Gaussian Function

  • This paper has presented doping profile dependent threshold voltage for DGMOSFET using analytical transport model based on Gaussian function. Two dimensional analytical transport model has been derived from Poisson's equation for symmetrical Double Gate MOSFETs(DGMOSFETs). Threshold voltage roll-off is very important short channel effects(SCEs) for nano structures since it determines turn on/off of MOSFETs. Threshold voltage has to be constant with decrease of channel length, but it shows roll-off due to SCEs. This analytical transport model is used to obtain the dependence of threshold voltage on channel doping profile for DGMOSFET profiles. Also we have analyzed threshold voltage for structure of channel such as channel length and gate oxide thickness.

  • Analytical method to analyze the effect of tolerance on the modal characteristic of multi-body systems in dynamic equilibrium position is suggested in this paper. Monte-Carlo Method is conventionally employed to perform the tolerance analysis. However, Monte-Carlo Method spends too much time for analysis and has a greater or less accuracy depending on sample condition. To resolve these problems, an analytical method is suggested in this paper. By employing the sensitivity information of mass, damping and stiffness matrices, the sensitivities of damped natural frequencies and the transfer function can be calculated at the dynamic equilibrium position. The effect of tolerance on the modal characteristic can be analyzed from tolerance analysis method.

잠수함 난류항적 기술을 위한 무차원 난류 에너지 분포함수 B(ξ) 예측 (Analytical Solution of Non-dimensional Turbulent Kinetic Energy Distribution Function in the Turbulnet Wake behind a Submarine)

  • To describe turbulent wake behind a submarine, it is very important to know turbulent kinetic energy distributions in the wake. To get the distribution is to solve the turbulent kinetic energy equation, and to solve the equation, it is needed both information of ${\lambda}$ and ${\sigma}$ which define physical characteristics of the wake. This paper gives analytical solution of the equation, which is driven from $8^{th}$ order polynomial fitting, as a function of given ${\lambda}$, even though there is no information of ${\sigma}$. In comparison between numerical solution(i.e. exact solution) and analytical solution, the relative errors between them are less than to 5% in the range of 0 < ${\xi}$ < 0.95 in most given ${\lambda}$.

Flexural and tensile properties of a glass fiber-reinforced ultra-high-strength concrete: an experimental, micromechanical and numerical study

  • The focus of this research effort was characterization of the flexural and tensile properties of a specific ultra-high-strength, fiber-reinforced concrete material. The material exhibited a mean unconfined compressive strength of approximately 140 MPa and was reinforced with short, randomly distributed alkali resistant glass fibers. As a part of the study, coupled experimental, analytical and numerical investigations were performed. Flexural and direct tension tests were first conducted to experimentally characterize material behavior. Following experimentation, a micromechanically-based analytical model was utilized to calculate the material's tensile failure response, which was compared to the experimental results. Lastly, to investigate the relationship between the tensile failure and flexural response, a numerical analysis of the flexural experiments was performed utilizing the experimentally developed tensile failure function. Results of the experimental, analytical and numerical investigations are presented herein.

수중둔덕의 이동율 예측을 위한 해석해 (Analytical Solutions for Predicting Movement Rate of Submerged Mound)

  • 파고와 주기 그리고 수심의 함수로 정의된 이류계수를 파고와 주기에 대한 결합분포함수와 확률적으로 결합하여 수중둔덕의 이동율을 예측할 수 있는 해석해를 유도하였다. 파랑의 비선형성에 의하여 유발되는 하상에서의 흐름이 표사의 이동을 유발한다는 가정하에 개념적 모형의 표사이동량 방정식을 사용하였다. 표사보존식에 표사이동량을 대입하여 시간에 따른 해저면의 변동을 나타내는 비선형 이류-확산 방정식을 얻을 수 있었다. 해석해에 의하면 수심이 증가할 수록 수중둔덕의 이동율은 지수적으로 감소하는 경향을 보였다. 그러나 스펙트럼에서 주파수 영역의 폭을 정의하는 계수, v의 값이 커지면 수중둔덕의 이동율은 증가하였다. 해석해에 의하여 예측된 수중둔덕의 이동율은 관측자료보다 과대평가하는 경향을 나타내나, 해석해를 유도하는 과정에 내포된 이론식의 제약성 및 입력자료의 부정확성 등을 고려할 때 전반적으로 해석해의 결과는 관측자료와 잘\ulcorner 일치한다고 볼 수 있다. 특히, 수심의 변화에 따른 해석해의 거동은 대상영역 외해에서 추정된 자료를 이용하여 이산화 기법으로 추정된 결과와 매우 잘 일치하였다.

추계론적 이론을 이용한 교량내진거동분석 (Seismic Behaviors of a Bridge System in the Stochastic Perspectives)

  • 본 연구에서는 지진하중을 받는 교량의 거동을 확률밀도함수를 통하여 분석할 수 있는 기법을 개발하였다. 확률밀도함수의 전개는 추계론적 이론을 이용한 반해석적 방법을 통하여 구하였으며, 반해석적 방법은 교량운동방정식으로부터 상응하는 Fokker-Planck equation을 구한 후, path-integral solution을 유도하여 이를 수치적으로 해석함으로써 구할 수 있다. 교량거동의 확률밀도 함수전개로부터 교량거동의 확률적 특성을 파악하고 확률밀도함수의 범위로부터 교량응답거동의 포락선을 얻을 수 있으며 이를 이용하여 최대응답의 범위를 결정할 수 있다는 것을 밝혔다.
